Although many feel that giving gift cards for gifts is an easy "out" to choosing a gift, many others think it's a great way to purchase what you need, or really want, and prevent returns! Plus, the cost of mailing is dramatically reduced over mailing a package if you need to send something far away.
Joan and I take turns "revisiting" previous challenges, and today's Technique Challenge 459 is revisiting
GIFT CARD HOLDERS . There are some really cute and unique ways to enclose a gift card, and I invite you to explore your resources to find one you would like to make. We have had several TLC Challenges using one type or another.
In our Tutorials section, we have several adorable designs. Type in the words "gift card" and many different types will come up. Here are a few:
Gift Card Box
Pop-Up Gift Card Holder
Card Pouch (although for cards, this would work too!)
Slit Latch Gift Card Holder
Beanie Cap Gift Card Holder
Card Purse (again, for cards, but could work)
Gift Card Holder
Here is how I made mine from
TLC165 :
1. Cut your paper 4 1/4" X 11". Score 3" in from each end and also in the middle 5 1/2".
2. Fold this so that you end up with a 'W' shape and then you will see where you need to put your adhesive and punch or cut your opening for the gift card pocket. I used my Word Window punch about 2 1/2 times to punch my opening.
3. When you adhere your sides, be sure to keep the punched side OPEN (the middle of the "W"), and not stuck together, so you can insert your card.
4. Decorate as much or as little as desired.
Pretty easy!
