TLC380 ~ Either/Or, but Both is More ~ {06/04/12}

Hello stampy friend!

It's time to put on your thinking caps, get crafty and creative and try one of TWO techniques in this challenge.... OR if you're feeling up to the challenge, you can do BOTH!

~ Either/Or, but Both is More ~

First on the challenge board is the Triple Tiered Easel card. This is sort of a mesh between the cascading cards we did a few weeks back and an easel card. You can see a couple samples HERE and HERE. You can also view a step by step instruction HERE. The step by step instructions are using a simple rectangular image, but if you look at the first two samples you will see that shaped nesting dies were used.

The second challenge I am calling the See Through Image. A couple ways of achieving this.... you can stamp your image, put a die over top that is slightly smaller than your image, so that the edges of your image touch the die... then trace the die. From there you want to cut away the parts that are not your image. Make sense?

OR, you can stamp your image and use a ruler to draw a box around it so that the box touches at least two sides of your image and then cut away the parts that are not your image.

I have attached some simple examples below to help you visualize what I'm talking about. But in all honesty, if you peek at my card, you'll get a better idea.

This technique actually makes a striking CAS card if you do this on your main panel and then put designer paper on the inside of your card.

Here is my sample:

Have fun!

I'm going to need fresh eyes for this one. Back at it in the morning.

stampinupconsultan 06-03-2012 10:00 PM

Agree with the fresh eyes... This is going to take a little bit of thinking to accomplish... I'll get at it tomorrow!! Thanks for the great challenge...

DawnL 06-04-2012 03:19 AM

Cool TLC!! Now for the TIME to play!!! Thanks Holly

Karen Wallace 06-04-2012 03:27 AM

I really like the triple Easel card but what are the dimensions in US? I tried to convert but it's not making any sense. Thanks

TLady 06-04-2012 04:35 AM

Any chance of a step by step tutorial of the Triple Tiered Easel coming from SCS?

Katchoo1 06-04-2012 06:50 AM

I get frustrated with the fancy structured cards and never feel like they turn out well (maybe I'll give it a go when I finally get a Big Shot/Kick!) so I went with the "Or" option of just trying the See Through Image technique to make a Christmas card:

TLady 06-04-2012 08:00 AM

MAYBE, SOMEONE will do the revisions/demensions here on SCS????? :) Make it so we can just print it out like you do ALL of your Technique cards?????

DawnL 06-04-2012 08:09 AM

Woooeeee! Holly, girl! You picked a doozie this time, but what FUN!! It took me a while (just figuring how I wanted to do it!), but I love how it turned out. ;)

here's mine

I just cut a piece of CS 4.25 x 11, scored at 5 and 2.5, then kinda did my own thing. The scored parts just fold over to make your back easel part.
HTH;)

TLC380 Flower Joy

Holly- I did the paper piecing challenge- and made a clear plastic "window" - so you can see the blue flowers from my background patterned paper peeking through. I added some ribbon borders- here's Flower Joy

TLady 06-04-2012 08:33 AM

So, from what I gather, you do what DawnL said with the CS, size & scoring & then you just make it whatever shape you want???? Am I right?

jray 06-04-2012 01:05 PM

This was a challenge, but I did it. The either part anyway the OR part I'll save for another time. Triple Tiered Easel by jray - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Thanks for the challenge!

Super challenge! Thanks, Holly! I opted for the open around the image part. Here's my Crane Window. Thanks so much for looking!

fishymom 06-04-2012 02:27 PM

Great challenge! I would have loved to do both, but I am noting feeling great today, allergies making me crazy. Here is my card, Our Hearts Speak.

Crafty Julia 06-04-2012 03:49 PM

TLC380 Leafy Thanks

I kept it pretty clean- just a little embossing and a die cut circle- here's Leafy Thanks

Arizona Maine 06-04-2012 05:23 PM

Hi Holly,
I think I figured it out by accident with the hearts.
Here's my ANNIVERSARY card.
