TLC316 ~ Let's make a Trellis~ (3/14/11)

Hello everyone and welcome to another fun and fabulous TLC Challenge!!! This week we are going to make a trellis or lattice work for all your pretty spring flowers!!!

This is how I made mine:
1. Cut out an opening in a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of white cardstock with a die (Labels 11 used here and it was run through the Cuttlebug with the Dotted Swiss folder).
2. Cut 12 - 1/8" x 5" strips
3. Line the backside of the opening with double sided tape and attach six of the strips on a diagonal from left to right (I used my score pal as a guide for the lines).
4. Attach the remaining six strips from right to left, weaving the strips over and under the first set.
5. Trim excess and attach backing (Graphic 45's Loves Labyrith pattern paper used here)
6. Optional: Create a frame for the front. I used the largest Labels 11 die and the next largest size, taped them on white cardstock, one inside the other, and cut them out with the Cuttlebug.

You can make any kind of trellis or lattice work you want....you can frame a lattice punched layer, score a lattice background, make a lattice background using ribbon...what ever you little heart desires!!!

Here is my sample:

Birthday Blessings

Please remember when uploading to include the KEYWORD TLC316 (no spaces).

You can view the entire TLC Gallery here

Have fun and I can't wait to see what you create!!!

Joan this looks like I can do it....I hope! LOL....your card is so scruptious! Is that even a word? Anyway, thanks for another great challenge!

chris bjornstedt 03-13-2011 07:30 PM

You are amazingly creative! The card is beautiful, and now I am off to buy Labels 11! Thanks, Joan.

hobbydujour 03-13-2011 08:25 PM

Fun challenge, Joan......although I probably took the easy way out and dry embossed for my lattice. I thought it would give a "netting" look with my sealady. Thanks for another fun Monday!

I felt guilty about my lazy way out on my first card, Joan. So I did another with a "real trellis". I love the dimension it gives to the card and it is a perfect backdrop for florals. Thanks!!

HAPPY SPRING

Joan, it is so funny that this is today's challenge. Last week I was playing with scraps on my desk and had a similar idea. I'll be back later with my creation.

BarbieP 03-14-2011 06:24 AM

Oh, Joan, I LOVE this technique. Can't wait to get off work and give it a try. Thanks so much!

I'll try to make a true lattice later following the directions, but in the meantime I pictured a garden trellis and that's what I made. Here's my Trellis of Wishes

I hope to get some time today to leave each of you a message but the cards are fantastic in the gallery. Here is mine, I cheated, I have a trellis die cut and it's much easier. LOL

Thankyou Joan for a great challenge. I haven't been here for awhile but I just couldn't resist this. We are moving and most of my stuff is packed in crates so if the challenge requires more than the basics I can't participate. I got a bit frustrated with the scissors but that was my fault for choosing a fiddly idea. I'm pleased with the results though. Here is my "Cut it Out!"

LOVED this!!! Here is my Trellis and Butterflies card.
