TLC168 - Embossed Watercolor

TLC168 Ė Embossed Watercolor

The technique this week is to combine an embossed image with watercoloring. Embossing is such a basic technique, but I canít remember the last time I got out the heat gun and EP! It's always fun to watch the EP turn from dull to shiny. :-D

My example:
Lovely Lilac Roses for Mom

For a tutorial on embossing, just follow steps 1-5 of the Embossing Resist tutorial
Embossing Resist Tutorial

For a tutorial on watercoloring, take your pick:
Watercolor Crayons
Watercolor Pencils
Watercolor with Reinkers

Thank you, I love watercolors...you can do so much with them!

creative74 05-12-2008 04:22 AM

Fabulous challenge! I haven't watercolored in forever, so this is a good one for me. I've been working on reorganizing my stamp area this weekend, so hopefully, I can do this one later today.

dawnmercedes 05-12-2008 04:22 AM

Hopefully after lunch, I'll have some time! I love using my WWC!

Kathy LeDonne 05-12-2008 04:25 AM

Well, I'm posting a card I did last week that fits this category, but I'll do another one today as well. I'm pleased with how this card turned out and watercolor is always a bit edgy for me.

I love both of these techniques. Off to make a card.

Babsnelson 05-12-2008 04:42 AM

Well I, for one, LOVE to emboss. I think it is one of my favorite techniques. Thanks for the great reason to bring out my heat gun Beth!!

TreasureOiler 05-12-2008 04:47 AM

Fantastic challenge Beth! I love watercolouring but haven't used my WWC in ages....that and gold embossing powder....will dig those things out this morning.

MariLynn 05-12-2008 04:51 AM

Sounds like a lot of fun. I have a field trip with my youngest son, so maybe tonight or tomorrow I can play!! Thanks for the challenge.

Oh, this one sounds like fun. I just got WCC's recently and have been playing with them and I love my EPs - tonight after work maybe I can play.

Now, ladies, please tell me, what is the difference between a challenges stalker and a challenges lurker? I think I may have become a stalker! LOL

Have a great day all and

HAPPY STAMPING!

artystamper 05-12-2008 05:25 AM

lacyquilter 05-12-2008 05:34 AM

Sounds fun. Maybe I can use it for a class card for tomorrow. Thanks, Beth.

A stalker is someone who checks the forum over and over to see if the challenge has been posted yet. :-D

A lurker is someone who reads a thread but doesn't post to it.

Since you posted less than two hours after it was posted, I think that makes you a stalker! LOL! Welcome!

Why am I a bit confused about this challenge? Do you watercolor the image first and then emboss it? or do you emboss the image first using the emboss resist technique and then watercolor it? Also, do you have to use watercolor paper?
(I'm all out of mine!)
Thanks for the guidance everyone!

markie's mom 05-12-2008 05:51 AM

Hi, everyone! Wow! Beth, you made me LOOK for my water color crayons...I dislike having to TEAR APART my stampin' room! LOL! (Hey, I should use them more often, right? LOL)

Thanks!!! Stalkers check before their morning coffee too, right?

Oh heck! I'm a stalker - but what a great group of people to stalk with!

Thanks for the guidance everyone!

I'll jump in and answer this for you! You emboss the image, then watercolor. You can do this on any card stock. Have fun!

golly 05-12-2008 06:22 AM

Thanks for a great challenge today, Beth, I just read the thread and am pleased to know that I have an official title. ''Lurker'' for sure. ''Stalker'' sometimes.
