Ok ladies I see that Walmart now carries the Cricut and cartridges...how many of you own one? How do you like it? Do you prefer it over all the others out there? Just looking for some opinions before I spend the money.
They are 194.00 at Walmart and the cartridges I think are 59.99 each. I want one sooo bad!!! How much do you love it? Have you experimented with it yet?
I received one from my DH for Christmas also... I LOVE it!!! Took a few tries to get it right but as soon as I got the hang of it I could not wait to make stuff!!!! Thank goodness I'm off of work until after the New Year because I might have had to use a few "sick days" to stay home and play. lol.
i really like it - both for scrapping and making cards - i think it is really versatile! i have the cartridge that comes with it and the tags and boxes one - both of which have cool features that i need to work with more. there is a little learning curve with getting used to the various settings, but it is pretty simple. i ordered 3 more cartridges from creativexpress.com - they had them on sale for $49.99, shipping for those plus mats and blades was abt $12 more so i figured it was worth spending $12 to save more than $30! HTH
I also got a Cricut from DH for Christmas. What a nice surprise!! LOVE it LOVE it Love it!!! I have scrapbooked and made cards already and now have 4 cartridges............... YEAH
ahh... i am stupid. husband would have bought me probably one for christmas but i wanted to be a good girl and said the cuttlebug good too. now i regret it! iam planning to do more scrapbooking this year (need to start my sons 1. year album, not talking about the book for my 3 year old) and i think it makes it so much easier to just print a title. no worries about alphabet sets ... which are expensive too.

i checked on ebay...
do i need special patterend paper to use with the machine? i thought i can use any kind of paper. how would it work with the thicker bazzill cs
I have a cricut. It will work with most papers, you just have to set the pressure of the blade and the speed based on the thickness of papers. I was one of the really lucky ones - I got one from Joann.com 6 months ago for $150 and they through in a zision personal trimmer for .99! If you are going to scrapbook, it is by far a more useful tool than the cuttlebug. It doesn alphabets so fast!

I got my circut at Wallmart for $169.00 and they have cartages for $52.00.
I love it! I have played a little bit but need to play more. I have the cartigae
that comes with it and the Christmas one. Can't wait to get more!
At Walmart -- are the cricuts located in the craft section? I've been to 2 Walmarts in my area and can't find them -- trying to figure out whether my Walmarts aren't carrying them or I'm looking in the wrong place.
I have been to three Wal-Marts in our area and only two carried them. The only difference I could see between the three is that the one that didn't have them was not a super center.
My DH gave me one for my BD in July...I absolutely LOVE it! I haven't invested a ton in cartridges...I have three. But, for X-mas I stamped/scrapped my MIL's last vacation (at her request) and this was a GODSEND! It is super-easy to use...you just have to play a little at first. It made alphabets a breeze, and I didn't need a stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up! My next cartridge will be the boxes and tags...I think that will be useful and fun. Definately worth the $$!
I LOVVVVVVE my Cricut. I use it all the time for Scrapbooking but I really use it more for my Workshops for Ovals, Squares and Circle. It's a fun toy and took a little playing with at first but I use it all the time. Well worth the money.
I too just got mine for Christmas from DH! LOVE it!!! Need to practice the settings for lighter-weight papers so they don't rip in tight corners but still cut ll the way through, but LOVE it with cardstock!!! Bought Jasmine yesterday, so now I have two cartridges.
So now I sit at my table thinking 'what can I cut next?'
I got my cricut for ..are u ready for this 127.00 my g/f works at Michaels and the day after thanksgiving for some odd reason they were letting ppl use the 25% off and then i got to use her discount and wala i got it at a bargin price then i saw it in walmart for 177.00 that same day and jo ann fabrics had it for 239.00 so i was in the right place at the right time..it sat under my tree for a month and i got to play with it finally.. i luv it
I bought a Cricut about a month ago & love it! I've used it for tags on letters, scrapbook pages, a bulletin board at work, etc.... It's great! You can see some samples in my gallery. I have 3 cartridges & can't wait to get more.
I found mine at Walmart, still haven't opened it. Want to go to Michaels and check out the Cuttlebug first. Also, does anyone know if it makes scalloped circles, like the punches?
Yes, they are in the craft department at Walmart. Here they are right on the endcap in the main isle. Hope you find one..after reading all of these replies I am definately on my way out to get one!!!

The Mini Monograms cartridge has the scalloped circles and scalloped squares. None of them are able to do the scalloped ovals at this time.
I also have a wonderful hubby who got me one for Christmas. I love it. So far I only have the cartridge that it came with, I am looking around hoping to find a sale of some kind. At first I thought it was too much of an investment because I dont scrap like I should (I told my 14 year old that I will have her scrap book done when she graduates ~ I did not say high school or college!)
But I do love it. I plan on playing all day tomorrow..

I have had my Cricut for about 6 months and I must say after my paper trimmer it is the other tool I could not do without anymore for my scrapbooking and cardmaking. DH bought me the rolling case for my birthday along with another cartridge ans then he bought me my 3rd cartridge for Christmas. The rolling case is great as it has lots of space to hold everything and all I can say is if I am going to a crop I do not have to carry heavy dies.

TYhanks ladies for all I've been reading about the Cricut it's well worth the money for cardmaking as well as scrapbooking. i guess I'll have to save up and buy one or try and talk my DH into investing and let him know it's well worth the money. It also seems like Wal-Mart has the best price. I'll have to go out and take a look. Does Wal-mart also carry the case for it??

A couple of months before Christmas AC Moore had a special sale of $199 (which turned out to be an ongoing sale) so I bought one. I'd been looking at them since I first saw them when they came out and was waiting for a decent price. Anyway, I haven't use it too much but the little I have I love it. I have 5 cartridges (always buy on sale and the $59.99 at Walmart is regular price). It's an awesome machine and I highly recommend it.
I made the mistake of trying it out with SU patterned paper and left it on the cutting mat overnight. Now I have a big mess! I need to pick it off little by little.
I know this will be wonderful for my scrapbooking, but I'm feeling a bit discouraged with it right now.
Any tips for patterned paper?

Liz: My tip is to get the cricut tool set. I thought I wouldn't need it but now that I have it it has been so useful to get the paper off the mat. The little tools make it so much easier, I am not ripping my paper anymore. One tip I have heard is to use the pampered chef scraper or a credit card to scrape the paper off when it sticks to much.

Thank you. I thought that might help. Wish I could use a coupon!

I absolutely love my Cricut, I had it just before Christmas and I have 6 cartridges. I don't scrapbook at all and as a cardmaker, I have found it very versatile! I also think the tool kit is a must!
I, too, have a Cricut and love it. I only make cards and it is awesome for personalizing cards with the alphabets. The cartridge that comes with it is called George and Basic Shapes and I use it all the time. Each cartridge also has creative features which allows you to use each design in multiple ways. Definitely worth the money IMHO.
