Default Where do you buy acetate sheets?

Does anyone have an inexpensive source for acetate sheets used to make acetate cards? I looked at Office Max and was shocked at the price - over $40 for 100 sheets! Are there different types of transparencies?

I just buy the cheapest brand of transparancies. I think I paid about $27.00 for 100 at Office Depot. Good luck.

I also get the cheapest brand - definitely a lot cheaper then $40. When I needed a few, I got them at Kinko's.

Yes, you can get them at Office Depot very cheap. Just go to the customer service desk and tell them how many you want. I didn't need a lot to make my Christmas Acetate Globes and they were happy to sell me just what I needed. Hope this helps......Phyllis

I bought some at Hobby Lobby. They were a little thicker than the 3M transparancies that I had. I think they were about $10 for 25 and you can use a coupon.

I bought clear acetate sheets from the stencil section in A.C. Moore. They were $10 for 25 sheets and I used a coupon.

They are thicker than the transparencies from the office supply store. I was looking for a replacement for the Stampin' Up! window sheets which I took to compare to.

I just bought some transparent cards and envelopes from Hero Arts which are thicker than anything I could buy by the sheet.

I ordered some cheap from american science and surplus. I *think* the web address is http://www.sciplus.com

This was a couple years ago and they are surplus so I don't know if they still carry them.

I bought a box of 100 for just under $17 at Office Depot... they are the write-one type. I read on someones blog they take ink best. I haven't had time to try them out yet though.

Default I use clear vinyl report covers

I have found the best item for price, clearness and weight is clear vinyl covers (most often used during report binding) like the ones in this link: Clear Covers (note: I have not purchased from this company, they were simply the first site I found a similar item to what I purchased). I purchased mine at Kelly Paper for a little under $14 for 100 pieces. They are really clear and very sturdy - I got the 10 mm covers.

You may want to try the B/S/T forum. I saw someone wanting to off-load some when I was browsing last night. Can't remember who, but you might try a search!

Yes. I did find some that were not so pricey at Staples. A pack of 100. That should last forever!

Now this is really cheap, but if I just need a little bit, I use blister packs. Just gonna recycle them anyway!

I think it's not recommended to store ezmount stamps on acetate sheets. I think it bonds or something. Clear might be ok.

I bought the EIKO brand of heavy-weight transparencies, online from Amazon. I paid $15 a box, there were 100 a box. I can't find them now there, but they are really nice transparencies! I bought 2 boxes, and they're going to last me awhile. They stand up very nicely when scored, keep their shape when made into boxes, etc. I really recommend them if you can find them.

Just a tip: The write-on transparencies work much better for crafts than ink-jet printer ones. The printer ones have static in them (they need it to cling the ink on) and any bit of dust or stray paper or what have you will end up on your project. The write-on ones don't have static.

Hi! I'm brand new to this site. Have you found the type of acetate you were looking for? I have had a very difficult time finding the clear acetate sheets to make cards. I read somewhere the .05m is the best. (not too thin or too thick)
ANy recommendation? Thank you.

Transparencies are fairly thin. I know it's not nearly as thick as the acetate ghost shapes that used to be so popular.

I bought transparencies tonight on Ebay. I bought a 100 piece package for $11.95 plus free S&H. They were brand new. I also recycle acetate from packages because I can get several different weights that way.

Not sure what I'll use these for, but figurted for that price I'd check here and find something.

Thank you! I just found this thread since I needed to buy some "clear cardstock" and I ended up finding out that I have a Kelly Paper Co. about 10-15 minutes away! I bought some covers. The 10 mil is now $17 and change for 100.

Default Clear Acetate

I'm also looking for a heavier weight to use for mounting the little embellishments in my pop up boxes. Needs to be quite heavy so that when it is cut into thinner strips it won't flop too much. I used to cut up the packaging from my Spellbinders dies but they aren't using that packaging any more. Other than raiding the recycling bin I don't know where to find them. But that is the weight I need. Anyone have any ideas?

TIA
Dianne

Do you have a hot laminator? I run an empty pocket through the machine, and out comes a clear plastic sheet! I don't know if it will work for your box, but for those looking for an alternative, this is what I do : ) Works great for the Stampamajig and shaker frames...

HTH!

No, I don't have a laminator, but will keep that in mind. I could go out to Staples and have them laminate some sheets for me. Thanks.
