Question when a die comes with a wing?

I have noticed that there are dies out there that say "w/Angel Wing". What does that mean...what are they used for?

Thanks, Sandra

The only dies I know of that come with angel wings are Cheery Lynn dies. Perhaps there are others .
With the Cherry Lynn dies the first die is an intricate die such as a doily or butterfly.

The "Angel wing" is a solid shape of the doily or butterfly similar to a silhouette and is usually cut from a different color paper and placed behind the intricate die to showcase the cuts in the die shape .

Thanks for answering...I knew I would get a quicker response here rather than e-mailing the company....

My Angel Wing Cherry Lynn dies came with instructions but this is from the Cherry Lynn website:

Many of our Doilies have Angel Wing mates. These are half sized dies that match the shape of the die cut. Simply die cut one side, flip the craft paper and align the edge of the first cut to the edge of the second cut for an economical shape cut of the die. Angel Wings shape cuts may also be embossed with its die mate using embossing pads. Try coloring the die before embossing for a coloration transfer while embossing the design!
