What is the best photo program?
Now that I'm scanning my work & downloading my pics onto computer, it would be nice to have a good photo editor program.
There are a few that came as a trial with our computer a year ago, but now it won't let me work with them...if I try to do something more, it says "buy now to...."
On our computer, there's Corel, Adobe, Kodak Easy Share...
What do you suggest? I'm thinking about spending my C'mas $$ and getting a good software for this use.

Picasa is great and it's free. Go to google and type in Picasa freeware or Picasa shareware and then you download it off the internet. Love it and it's easy to use.

I have Kodak Easy Share because it came with my camera. But I recently purchased PhotoShop Elements. It's kinda expensive ($80?) and it's going to take alot of work to learn it, but I know it has great reviews and great potential. Now I need to sit down and play for a few hours.

I think it depends on what you want to do with your pics. If ou just want to basic editing functions...like crop, remove red eye, etc...then something like Kodak Easy Share of Picasa should work. If you'd like a bit more...such as adding effects, text capabilities, extra features...then go for something like Digital Image Suite or Photoshop Elements. I personally have Digital Image Suite and I love it. I know its a pricey tool, but it is good:-D

Me too! Couldn't live without it!
On a side note, I work on computers as my "other job" and every PC I've installed Kodak Easy Share on it has slowed down considerably.... At least one was a brand new Dell and it slowed to about half the speed. It runs a lot of background processes. |

I have both Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop and they both have their applications but for pictures...I really think that Photoshop does a better job of 'mixing pixels' when photo editing, resizing etc - they just seem a tad clearer especially when working with .jpeg's as everytime you save you loose some quality.
it is however, very expensive and you have to be a graphics 'geek' to want to pay for it IMO

Adobe Photoshop elements is the way to go. It has easy to use editing and a very good photo organizing software included.

So if you have it and want to remove it, can you still use the dock to upload then say to another program like Photoshop Elements? |

I used to be a Paint Shop Pro girl.... but after using Photoshop Elements 2.0, this is what I stick with. DH just ordered the Photoshop Elements 5.0/CS bundle the other day.
I bought the training CDs from Scrapper's Guide to learn how to do a variety of things with Photoshop Elements. There's also a great book called Photoshop Elements Classroom in a Book. I bought the book for PE 3.0 and found it to be a great help in learning the program.
I also subscribe to the Photoshop Elements User newsletter.
The only thing that I miss from Paint Shop Pro is the ability to capture a portion of a window. I don't have to do that very often and when I do, I just use the Print Screen button on my keyboard and once I've pasted the screenshot into PE, I use the crop feature to remove the extra "stuff."
