Default Want to upgrade Cricut and software..plz help?

I have a very old Cricut expression I have had for 8-9 years (?) along with Sure Cuts A Lot software and Cricut Design Studio software. All very old, an old PC...everything is outdated. It's mostly sat unused for over a year and I've decided my tax return $$ will go to revamping my craft room and my computer/Cricut and software. But now I am looking at what is on the market and it's all very confusing! I love SCALs ability to pair with downloaded free fonts and to convert images to .CUT files. Can anyone give me a tutorial on what the new Cricut machines and software do? I'm not a big fan of buying dozens of cartridges. Pretty sure SCAL doesn't pair with the newer Cricut machines now. Please help me get up to speed!? Thanks.

Hi Amy, I am in the same boat as you. I've been using SCAL2 on my Cricut Expression, and I'm very happy with it, but at some point, I'm going to have to grudgingly upgrade like you. I'd love to hear from anyone who has been through the same thing. What machine did you upgrade to and what sold you on it? There are just too many choices out there! Thanks!

You'll get a lot of differing opinions on this, but I bought a Cricut Explore Air, and I love it. I've had several Cricuts, including the Expression, and used SCAL and Design Studio. You won't need SCAL or DS, because Design Space allows you to do almost all of the things they do. I would never be able to explain it all in one post, but there are lots of videos on the Cricut site and on YouTube. Happy shopping!
