Default Vinyl Opinions needed

Hi I need you all to weigh in on this question.....
Is the brand Oh My Crafts- Oh My Vinyl as good as Provo Crafts Cricut Vinyl (for applying to smooth walls)? Also can the oh my vinyl cut well on the Cricut? Your input would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
Holly

My advice is to go to signwarehouse.com check out the Oracle 631
10 yards for $15.50 versus 4 feet for $5.99
and check out their vinyl is it so much more affordable than what
oh my crafts seems to be charging.

Thank you so much this seems to be exactly what I am looking for as I am going to cut out hundreds of spots/circles to decorate walls of my Mom's laundry room.

I use the Oracle 631 I don't order from that company but I have used the vinyl itself before. I haven't used any other vinyl so I can't compare it to the PC but I do like this vinyl.

PC vinyl is Oracl 631. Sometimes on the back of the vinyl it says the model #. I also order from signwarehouse. This time I got 641 which is shiny. I haven't tried it in my cricut, but according to oracle.com (or whatever it is) it should be the same, so i think it will cut fine. I don't know anything about oh my crafts' vinyl though. Good luck with your endeavor!

Do you order transfer tape from the sign warehouse? If so, is it paper backed? And which one do you like?

Hi,

I have the Oracl 631 and really like it so far.

I was wondering if anyone has used this vinyl:
UCS8510 Aachen 8000 Series Vinyl 8.5'' by 10 yard

I have a Silhouette, so the width would be perfect and I wouldn't have to cut it. Also, (slight hijack, though I might start another post) I was wondering if anyone knows any great sites or blogs to visit for tips on what all you can do with vinyl?

I had found one lady's blog that was so cute and now I've lost it. She put vinyl on everything! I copied her idea of using vinyl on plain mylar balloons for DH's b-day and they were so cute!! I'd love to find more ideas like this.

Thanks!

Kellye

You can buy heatpress vinyl and put things on t-shirts, onesies, bags, etc. Also, window decorations for special occassions, weddings, parties, holidays. You can do floor monograms.

Wonderful Graffiti is a good site.

I say all this, but we use a professional series vinyl cutter for our business. I'm sure that yours could do the same. There are so many applications for vinyl, plus endless colors.

HTH!

Wow, Kimz1959, I'm going to have to check out the glass etching cream there. I realized I'd have to have a coupon to get some at Micheal's! I didn't know it was so expensive--it was a rather large container, too. I'd love a smaller less expensive size to try it out first.

Annie*, I hope I do find it! She even put her vinyl initials on a spot on top of some flip flops and it was so cute. I'm going to keep searching, and will share the site if I find it!

Thanks for this great info ladies. I just placed an order from printonit.com for a 32 color sampler pack of vinyl that was on sale and then 20% more off! I plan on making Christmas ornaments this year for gifts. Everyone is getting a decorated ornament with their name on it and I just couldn't decide on a few colors to buy. I've been looking for a sampler pack and this site had it.

Oh... and they do scrap bags really cheap too if you just need smaller pieces of vinyl for smaller projects in assorted colors.

I have tons of vinyl information on my blog - just look in the right hand column and download the vinyl basics document. You can also get the checkout code for FREE shipping from H&H a great vinyl company. it is very well known and used over on the Cricut message board - vinyl forum.

Ladies.....You can also get vinyl from local businesses that make window signs or the things people put on their vehicle windows. These places will sell/give away offset pieces they can't use that are too small. Many of these pieces are plenty large enough for the crafter. I've gotten it for free since they can't use it. Just talk to the manager/owner of the business and explain a bit of what you're doing with it. They are also a great source of information and help.
