Default video camera for tutorials

hello ladies- I'm sick of searching the web for an answer so I thought I would come to you "the knowers of all things" and ask if you do tutorials could you please tell me what type of camera you use? I am trying to video classes to post and have a camera on a tri-pod above my table, but cant focus or zoom with out stopping and looking silly - any advice would be so appreciated.

I don't know that I'll be much help as I just have a video camera we bought when my son was born and a tripod that sits on my table pointed down. I've heard of some people using cell phones or flip cameras (though I think I heard those were discontinued). I've wondered about zooming but haven't figured out a good solution so I just move my projects off the table and closer to the camera when I want to zoom in.

I'd be interested to hear what other people do.
