Loved your video Ted - can't believe you may not put the stickers on, LOL!!! They look cool, buddy!!!

I checked back -- I have photos of my little luggage tag "cheat sheets" on post #6, and the sandwiches on them are post #27. HTH!!!

I keep those little tags in the storage compartment on the side of the Vagabond.

ENJOY!!!!!

I got a good laugh because I, too, may not put the stickers onto my Vagabond

I plan to play today, and have some Spellbinders Impressions plates, so if I drag those out and find the magical sandwich, I'll post back here.......

I also put my stickers on my "Bond", and think they are rather cute, even going around the corners......love it, he looks so well traveled and dressed up!!

I've not had much luck with the PTI impression plates to be honest. I may just resort back to Cuttlebug folders! LOL

I've found that this works just fine for the PTI plates:

PTI Impression Plate:
Solo w/ Shim
Clear plate
Impression Plate
Paper/cs
vanilla and tan mats (PTI)
Clear plate

HTH!

Michael's current coupon does not exclude the Vagabond and my local store had two in stock. My final price was $149.99!! They had limited the Sizixx sale to items $99 and below but the computer accepted the coupon without difficulty.

Hope this helps anyone that has been waiting for a price break.

I had no idea Michaels sold Vagabonds!! That shows you have far in the boonies I live. Where do you live? We have the smallest Michaels (per the store mgr). Even though I have been in larger ones I have never seen one that would have the Vagabond. I think your use of the coupon was a computer glitch but great for you. Don't think Tim Holtz will let the stores sell for less than $199.

On the PTI forums, I think I may have convinced a new Vagabondee to name her toy "Casey" because he IS a suitcase, after all.

So how are the Vagabond fans doing these days?? Everyone having fun?

I visited my daughter's school for Fine Arts day and it was fun to bring it along ~ the kids loved pressing a button and watching the magic happen :^).

Tim just posted a GREAT video on how to use the Vagabond with other dies, etc. on his blog. Here's the link on YouTube to watch!

Vagabond Versatility

It's 15 min. long. Pretty cool!

Excellent video, Lisa -- thanks for sharing!

I especially liked the tip of using grunge paper with a Texture Fades embossing folder and thinner paper!

How have my fellow Vagabonders been?? Still loving your machines?? It's been quite awhile since I've seen a post from anyone and wondered how you all were. Hope the old "Hobo" is still performing at top speed for you, Ted..... Mine just got pulled out for use tomorrow for my Father's Day cards. Also have a couple of birthday cards to do as well, so, the "Bond" will be put to good use!
Hope you're all doing well........you've been missed!!!

Hi there. Funny you asked for an update 'cuz just yesterday I was thinking (1) how the Vagabond is one of the VERY BEST purchases I have EVER made for my art/crafting and (2) how BRILLIANT TIM HOLTZ is because everything he designs is top QUALITY and it all works together ingeniously.........

There is so much incredible talent on SCS boards and in the world in general, but Tim Holtz just brings paper crafting to a whole new level for me every day IMHO.

I really like my vagabond but found that I can't get supplies for it in my area. Michaels sells the machine but nothing to go with it. The leg broke off right away so glued it on and now looking forthe texture impressions pad and the silicone pad. I hate that you have to order everything to do the project you want to work on.

I was just wondering the other day how the 'bonders were doing too!! I got sidetracked on my way to this thread, so I'm glad lovetostamp3 popped over to say hey!

I haven't been doing a lot of stamping lately, but actually now have mine sitting open on the edge of my desk. If I leave it folded up, I have a tendency to stick things in front of it and I don't want to have any hesitation to use it. With it open, I actually photographed a card the other evening sitting on the open tray. And I slide some card pieces under the tray and lay some on top while I'm working so it's certainly not taking up real space!

I'll come back if I find the pads in a b&m store sometime. I rarely use them. I know they're in the sandwich for embossing Spellbinder's dies, but most of the time I'm happy with the level of embossing I get anyway. Unless it's maybe a CAS design and that's a BIG feature that I'm looking for, then I'll make sure I "extra-emboss" them.

Anyway -- still lovin' the 'bond!

I have not purchased the Bond yet. I have both the Bug, and the Big shot, so I haven't invested the $$ in the bond. My friend loves her's, and another friend has it on her wish list. Maybe I'll put it on my Christmas list!! LOL

Ted, so good to hear from you.........Glad to hear you still are using the "Hobo"!!!

I have a bit of a confession to make.... I won a new Cricut E2 so "Bond" is sharing duties with a new room mate! I never thought I would need or want one, but, I have to say, now that I have one.... well, I love it!!! Of course I still love my Bond machine, so that relationship will never go away. In fact I have it out to emboss some background paper for a card I'm making.

Glad to hear my fellow Vagabonders are all doing well and still crafting away. I got some of the dies Tim came out with a while back and plan to use them on some cards this summer, so look out world, my mojo is coming back!!!!

Let's keep in touch through our "little thread" and share the joys of this machine. Hope to hear whether the new shim Diana of Scor Pal/Magnolia is coming out with, will work in our Vagabond. It's supposed to be the latest thing - you can read the post on SCS under Scor Pal. Talk soon.......

well, I finally caved. We were in Wash DC 10 days ago and Michaels had the Vagabond on sale for $179.99, so I decided to go for it. We hand carried it home. I have been so busy I haven't even had time to open the box! I will change that in the next two weeks or so.

Congratulations, and welcome to our band on "Bonders" and a "Hobo". We're a rowdy group with nicknames....hee hee, and we love our Vagabond machine. Hope you will too, once you get to use it! You'll get easily spoiled by how simple it is to use, even if you do have to plug it in.... It works like a charm.

Phantom,
Is your sandwich recipe to cut and emboss nesties in 1 pass? or did I need an embossing mat somewhere in there for embossing on a 2nd pass?
Thanks

Hi Steph,

I'm glad you find the recipes useful and thanks for the compliment on the tags! When I haven't used Bond for awhile, I do have to refer to them!

Tim Holtz recommends this for embossing the Spellbinders/Nesties:

Solo w/ Shim
Impression pad #655120
Thin die with cs/paper
Silicone pad #655121
Clear Plate

Personally, I get a pretty decent emboss line with the first pass. Unless I really want the embossed line to be a strong feature, I usually just cut & go.

Tomorrow I'll do a few samples and take some pictures. I'm guessing it's very different depending on the paper/cardstock too.

(I actually wrote this down on my to-do list for tomorrow!!! *fingers crossed* that I remember to read it, LOL!!)

*fingers crossed* that I remember to read it, LOL!!)
thank you so much for your research!!

I too am still so impressed with my "bond" . It has been a real savings for my hand which has been compromised due to an accident at work. Seriously, anyone would benefit from owning a Vagabond. I'm just thankful there is an alternative for us with limited use extremities. I used to have and use a Wizard but that technology is useless to me now. I can no longer ratchet and crank much of anything. Thanks Tim for thinking about us "altered users"!
