Default Unmounting stamps & storage

I've been reading some of the posts regarding unmounting stamps and didn't really understand why anyone would do this until I used my first clear stamp. Good night nurse, what a difference!

After checking out various websites, the cost would be enormous! The best price I saw was $4.25 p/sheet of EZ mount thin 1/16". Then storage is something else. Which takes up less space, the cd/dvd covers or the notebook cling sheet system? My heavens, while I don't have that many SU sets, maybe 2 dozen, but I've got hundreds of other stamps.

So my questions are
what is the least expensive website to purchase EZ Mount thin?
what are your thoughts on storage, cheapest and less space
how many stamps can you actually get out of one sheet, (I know it depends on the size) but give an estimate

Thanks....

One way you could save yourself a lot of money is buy using the Tack n' Peel stuff. You stick that on the acrylic block and then stick the bare rubber to the block to stamp.

http://www.tsukineko.com/new2.php
http://www..com/tack-n-peel.html

$8.95 for one 4" x 6.5" sheet

It stays on the block and you would just peel the rubber off to clean. It's clear so you can still see the rubber through the block.
  • I use the EZ Mount foam. I buy it from Simple Treasures Collage (eBay seller) in quantities of 10 sheets to save money. He sometimes run specials of 20% off so that it ends up costing less than $4 a sheet. The sheets are 8-1/2" x 11", so the size of piece of printer paper. You can get maybe four sets on a sheet. That's a rough estimate because, like you mentioned, it depends upon the size of the set.
  • I prefer to store my stamps in CD cases. I buy my CDs from Rima.com. 200 clear standard cases without the removable trays for $24 here: http://tinyurl.com/ysn3pa.
  • I store the CDs in these Case Logic storage units that hold 30 CDs. $6.99 each and qualify for free shipping on orders over $25 at Amazon.com.
I have pictures in my gallery of my unmounted stuff.

This is the most inexpensive and convenient storage for UM stamps I have tried, but YMMV.

I am in the process of unmounting my Stampin Up sets and I probably have about 50-60 sets. I started with 10 sheets of ez mount purchased on ebay from the seller mentioned above. I love it and to me, it is worth the initial effort.

One hint I received from an earlier thread was to lay the stamps out on a sheet of paper and you'll get a rough idea of the best layout possible to make the most of using your ez mount.

As for storage. I just went to Kmart and bought cd cases (not slim) at $2.99 for a set of 10 but they are cheaper online through Rima as previously mentioned. I just wanted mine NOW! you know...take on a project and I want it done instantly!

I made my cd labels on my Word program using the labels menu and scrolling down until I found the spine label page. Double clicked on the border and made it black so I had some cutting lines. Typed the names of my sets in and printed onto cardstock. Then I used the red tape (1/4") and put a small piece on each end and adhered it to the inside part of the spine.

Also, I used my black StazOn ink to stamp the image on the back of the CD case. Two reasons - if they get misplaced, I know where they go and words sometimes get hard to read without the su sticker so it helps me read the words on sentiments.

Stamping Bella has EZ mount for $3.99 a sheet. I don't think she has the thin EZ mount, but I'm not sure.

It doesn't say if it is the thin EZ Mount or the regular. How do you know which one is thin?

You can get a LOT of SU sets onto one sheet of EZMount. I did more than 30 sets on about 5 sheets. You can get the EZMount for $2.95 per 8.5x11 sheet at Beeswaxrubberstamps.com. It's not the thin EZMount though.. it's 1/8" thick. I store mine in clear CD Jewel cases that I bought from rima.com. You get 200 cases for $24.

I just ordered the cd cases and total price including shipping (seemed a bit high, but ??) was $39.72 or 20 cents each. Not bad!! I especially like not having to take out the insert and toss it in the trash...seems like a waste!
