Default tool n one

I'm either doing something wrong on the new spellbinders tool n one does not do what they claim! I was so excited to pick this tool up today and I cut out the lattices rectangles die and tried to get the pieces out of the die with the tool and it doesn't work! I've tried using two or three different size foam mats, I tried just holding it and rolling it out, nothing works. Anyone e else have this tool and suggestions for me?

I watched both of those. They make it look so easy. I will try again...

I tried it a second time. Here is my experience. It works on some dies better than others. I used the rectangle lattice die and had a terrible time. If I rolled the die through the big shot twice, I got a few more pieces to pop out, but still nothing better than using a piercer. On the decorative labels one, it worked a lot better. I guess I will just have yto play around, but so far, I'm not impressed.

Someone here recommended putting wax paper between the die and the paper. I tried that, and it's very effective but not 100% so I supplement the wax paper with an inexpensive set of dental picks http://www.sciplus.com/s?sStr=dental+tools&x=0&y=0
Sometimes when I get lazy I just use the picks. Your tool looks extremely helpful, and it's better looking than those ugly picks, But you might want to try wax paper with it.

I thought of doing that, but that defeats the purpose of the tool doesn't it? The tool is supposed to get out the little pieces that remain in the die once you pop out the main die cut.

Yes, it defeats the purpose, and worse, defeats expectations. But I don't think you're doing anything wrong. The tool isn't perfect.

I love mine. Yes, it does work better on some dies than others, but in general I'm really impressed. The dies where it doesn't quite as well are ones where I had to add shims to get the die to cut so it was a super tight fit and then I had to use the pic to push a few of the pieces out. Are you using it on a mat? It does work better with the mat underneath. I just use a piece of packing foam.

I love that it will take all the hanging chad off the cut pieces. I still use wax paper because the tool isn't designed to make releasing the cut image out of the die.

I love mine too. It takes so much less time getting all those little hangers on off of the die. Maybe yours is defective?
Blessings.

I don't think its defective. I used it with a mat and without. I'll keep working with it.

I've been trying all morning. If I use the wax paper the pieces all come out anyway. Without wax paper the pieces don't come out well with the tool. The dies I tried it on were the floral ovals, Fleur de lie squares, fleur de lis, decorative labels one and eight, and lattice rectangles. The spatula works well popping out the paper from the die, but I could have lived without this tool. I'm glad it works well for the rest of you. Maybe I will try to find another mat sometime, but if you need the mat, they should sell it with it.

Do you want the tool to remove the pieces from the paper you will use on your project or do you want it to remove all the pieces left over in the die?

I just tried my lattice die and it's a pain to clean out the die. I used the tool without wax paper and no mat. I rolled the brush back and forth in a couple of different directions and everything popped out. I still have to use the poker tool to get pieces that are stuck in the paper piece because my die doesn't cut them all out. I tried to use the tool on the paper and of course, it didn't work because it's not designed for that, but I thought I'd try.

So sorry it doesn't work for you. : (

Yes. I want it to clean out the die. It didn't remove any from the lattice die for me and that's not even a real intricate die. I wouldn't mind picking a couple but it didn't remove any. I will try it again when I get home. On my way to a wedding!

I want some!! LOL I won't need the tool if that paper works as well as they showed! I think for now I'm using my wax paper. At least the spatula tool works well and helps pop out the die cut from the die. I haven't totally given up on it. I will try again this week with it. But if I find that paper, I'm getting me some!!

I have the tool in one and I really like it. I found that the brush end works best on open spaces on the die; it won't take out paper that is behind a pinhole, KWIM?

That being said, I like the release paper by Ecstasy crafts, and I ordered 3 boxes! Paying for shipping is only a little more for the 3 than it was for one box, so I decided to stock up. Hope it works like the video shows.

I understand what you are saying but the lattice rectangle die doesn't have pinholes and that was the one I had trouble with. I will still try again, but too tired today. Went to a wedding which requires traveling long distance! I'm too young to feel his old!

I dont use a mat. I hold my die up over my waste basket and run the tool over the die. Hope this helps.
Blessings.

This morning I used designer paper and held it over the trashcan. I used the lattice rectangles die again. They came out better, but I still had to lay it on the foam and run it over it quite a bit. I guess this would be better than poking each tiny piece on the more intricate dies, just so people understand they will still have to poke pieces out individually. I know she tells you that in the videos, but she only showed one tiny little one she had to punch. I guess it would depend on the die and also how sharp it is. I'm leaving the spatula in place of the pick because I already have a tonic adjustable pick that I love and use a lot.

I saw this tool demonstrated at a Scrapbooking convention last weekend. Being frugal (okay, cheap) I thought, "it's just a firm brush and awl." I haven't tried using the brush and awl approach yet, but I think it will work. I can buy a lot of paper and ink for $20.

I finally used a die where the tool was no help. It's a scallop Nessie and I used really thin scrapbook paper. The paper was so tight in the die that the tool couldn't lift it out and even pushing from the backside using the little release holes was not much help. I used waxed paper and it worked great. I wrote on the backside of the die "wax paper" to remind me the next time I use this die.
