Question Texturing Medium?

I would like to use a white texturing medium with stencils and want to have the choice of being able to mix in an ink tint beforehand or paint the surface after dry. I've seen some blog samples and never paid enough attention to what was being used. Is it the flexible modeling paste you find in the hobby store art dept.? What other options are there? I have some embossing paste; will that work the same way?

I love Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 embossing paste. Right now there's white, black, gold & silver. Translucent is coming soon.

I use modeling paste by liquitex . I find that some items are cheaper when they are not specifically created for card making/scrapbooking.
Liquitex Modeling Pastes - BLICK art materials

8 oz. Liquitex modeling paste at Dick Blick is only 7.79

Golden is another great brand and is about a dollar or two more i think. HTH
