Default Tag tearing templates at Mikes

I was wandering through the wall stenciling section of Michaels and found some metal tearing template sets by Plaid. One was a tag shape, another was a circle, and the third was a heart. They were maybe in the 3" or 4" size range, and consisted of a larger template with a hollow inside, and a smaller template that fits inside the larger one, so it's like you could make a small paper frame using these sets. They also have oval shapes, but these weren't carried at my Michaels.

I was just watching Carol Smith on The Shopping Channel, and one of the layouts they showed used one of the tag templates, but they weren't selling them on TSC. I just thought some of you may be interested, so now you know!

I am unfamiliar with "tearing" as it relates to the templates. Duh. How do you actually go about creating a tag with one of these. Thanks in advance for enlightening me!

They are a heavy aluminum or some other metal in the shape of a square or heart with the same raggety edge as the SU's tearing tool. And they really work!

You can create your edge by tearing the paper along the template "as is" or you can spritz with some water or do the old Qtip trick to get a tear that is more true to the edge of the template. The example I saw on TSC looked quite nice, especially considering I didn't expect to like it that much. I don't know why on Earth these tearing templates were in with the wall stenciling paints and templates. They are fairly inexpensive -- ~$10 CDN (~$5 US?).

This sounds cool, definitely something I'll want to check out - so thanks for the heads-up on this one! Linda

I work at a Micheals, and some of the supplies are in really strange places. I think they want you to shop around for other things. I can't tell you how many times I've help people find exactly what they wanted that was in another aisle other than the expected one. It can drive you crazy!

Wall stenciling, huh? Ours are hidden on the back wall, next to the glass painting supplies. There is a 2' wide section for paper painting and that's where they are in our store. The problem I have with the "M Stores" here is that I have 4 within a 20 mile radius of me and THEY DON'T CARRY THE SAME STUFF.... only one store carrys Store In Style products. I was looking for something last summer and only the store across town had it. Totally wierd.
