Absolutely, positively YES. It's not needed on every card, but there is no better way to get your image stamped exactly where you want it. Even when using clear polymer stamps, I still use the stamp-a-ma-jig to get my sentiment placement dead on.
Although I don't own the SU branded one - I have one from Michael's. Addicted to the 40% off, I am.
It's the easiest way to get an exact placement of a stamp.
You won't use it on every card but when you want something to be dead straight or to be in just the right position you will rely on the SMJ!
Definitely a great tool to have. I have the SU one (use to be a demo) but the ones at JoAnns or your other stores are the same as stated. I would definitely recommend watching a tutorial on it! When I decided to use mine, I had watched a tutorial on one of Gina K's stamp tv. It turned out great!

Solves the problem of making an entire card and then stamping the sentiment ... and it's at an angle, wrecking the entire card. (not that I've ever done that ... much! )
Can't stamp without it! I watch for sales and yard sales to get more!! Then pass them around to people that don't have one.
Favorite usage is to color only the part of multiple stamps and then combine them all on the paper in perfect (well almost) alignment!
See my little fishing kids couple or the last retirement card. Both re-purposed multiple stamps onto one card.
Thanks for all your comments. I tend to be pretty symmetric-needy, and if something's just a little 'off', it drives me crazy. There's definitely a SAMJ in my future. Wasn't aware co's other than SU make this item, so thanks once again, Stampers.
I have had a SAMJ for years and rarely used it. That is until the last year, my eyes just aren't what they used to be and it drives me crazy when things are wonky! I now use my SAMJ on nearly every card I make, it is a must have for me!

I have two as well. One from SU! and one from Mike's. I believe they are made by the same company. Anyway, I use it on almost every card I make! I'm a notorious crooked stamper without it! LOL.
What I also do for my wood mounted stamps, is stamp my images using my SAMJ on vellum or acetate and then keep those sheets in the case with my stamps. That way when I pull that stamp set out to use, I've already got my positioner sheet stamped and ready to go!
I've had a SU SAMJ for 7 years. I use it all the time--not on every card, just the ones I want to look really good!
It's easy to use and well worth the price. Try it you will love it.

Decided I definitely NEED one of these after reading all your posts. Went out yesterday to HL, M's and ACMoore stores. None had the JAMG. Fortunately, was able to get a good buy on one at overstock.com. Wouldn't have thought to look there before doing a google search, but they definitely had the best price. Will have to check out that site more often.
I'm ashamed to say my SAMJ sat in a drawer for years because I couldn't get the hang of it and was intimidated by it. The tool is shaped like a "T" and the instructions show the "T" positioned down to use it; that's so awkward! I wised up and turned it around with the "T" facing up and have no problems using it now. I'm making up for lost time and use it a lot especially when stamping sentiments--they're lined up perfectly and no longer going up or down-hill (which drives me bonkers!).
The thing I also love about it is the fact that, once the sentiment is stamped on the clear sheet, I can move it all around to find the best location on the card to put the sentiment and then stamp it and have it perfectly aligned!
