Cutting and pasting some info from the demo discussion side. Note that I didn't come up with this, just wanted to pass along some tips that may be helpful. I don't have the folder yet even.
Here is my set up:
Standard Cutting Pad
Embossing Folder with Card Stock
2 Card Stock Shims (cut to the same size as your standard cutting pad)
Multipurpose Platform (completely closed, with no tabs open)
** PLEASE NOTE: that there is only ONE cutting pad used in this configuration. I got the best results when using a NEW standard cutting pad (ie: one that is not bowed). Your machine may be tighter or looser than mine, just adjust the number of card stock shims accordingly.
Bottom: Platform opened no tabs
6 pieces of the cardboard that comes with our dsp
1 piece of regular cardstock
Folder with cardstock cut to size
1 standard cutting plate
Others cut the bottom part off the folder so it fits better sideways
If you use cardstock cut 1/2 inch larger than your folder (all around) it works great! You use the 2 standard cutting pads and tab #2. Wastes paper and you have to figure how to trim the piece to use on a card front.

Hope one of these methods works for your project! At least you know you're not alone with difficulties getting it to be perfect, but a lot of people have figured out some tips to get it there! I'd love to see pictures when you get it figured out - the folder leaves a beautiful design.
