Default SU Bigz dies - do they work in the Cuttlebug?

I'd love to get a couple of the SU dies, but I don't want to buy the Big Shot, as I like my Cuttlebug. Does anybody know if the bigz dies will work in the Cuttlebug?

Thanks

I believe they do, but some of the Sizzix cutting pads (for sure the extended-length ones) are too wide for the Big Shot so you'll have to figure out the right sandwich using the CB plates.

I think you meant that some of the Sizzix pads are too wide for the Cuttlebug! And I think you are right. I believe some of the Sizzix products won't fit in the Bug. Love your avatar, I'm a star-geek myself!

Yeah, I had "Big Shot" on the brain as soon as I started talking about Sizzix stuff, LOL!

Okay, I'm a little confused! Are the bigz dies Sizzix? Or SU? Or are they the same thing?!

Thanks

I'm with you on quest's regarding S-UP dies (for example the top note die) being used in Cuttlebug. I LOVE my Cuttlebug but have (so far) only used or purchased the Cuttlebug dies...still learning how to use the machine..hahaha

If someone could provide a link to maybe a video?? OR what sandwich recipe others have used with the S-UP dies in the Cuttlebug, I'd really appreciate it.

THANKS!!

Actually, the extended cutting pads are ever-so-slightly too wide for the CUTTLEBUG, not for the BigShot & BigKick. They're made for those Sizzix machines.

The extended cutting pads can be trimmed or sanded to fit through a CB. It's a simple task, and you only need to alter one plate for the top, and you can use anything to shim on the bottom (if you need the additional height in the sandwich).

Bigz dies are made by Sizzix, but SU has some Sizzix dies (of various sizes) that are exclusive designs sold only through SU -- or eBay. LOL

For videos using the various dies in various machines, try YouTube. Cropstop has many good ones on its YouTube channel.

Yes, I know -- ashmanra noticed my "oops" a few posts up, but it's too late now to correct it, LOL!

One thing I will say is that there are a lot of CUTE Quickutz dies out there, and they DO work in the Cuttlebug. I forget the sandwich off the top of my head, but if you want to know, just PM me and I'll look it up. I just did a TON of QK cutting in my CB yesterday in fact! Just make sure you have the foam on the die.... most if not all come with the foam.

Oh, I looooove QK dies! They're wonderful. Cuttlebug dies tend to be childish-looking to me; the small embossing folders strike me the same way.

QK dies are great! Cropstop has a YouTube video showing how to use QK dies in a CB. Check the link in #8.

And they work just fine... no problems at all! I bought the one that is like a tuft of grass..... I got it at Hobby Lobby and can't WAIT til they go on sale because there were so many more I wanted!

I agree. Most of the CB dies are kind of childish looking.... there are some exceptions of course.

Thanks so much for all the info, ladies! I've got to do some surfing to find out more about Quick Kutz dies - I'm new to the Cuttlebug thing, too, and I only have a few Cuttlebug dies/embossers. Time to get some more!

Fear not, the SU Top Note die works beautifully in the cuttlebug, as do the Sizzlets, original red Sizzix dies and Nesties. So far, everything I've tried in the Bug has worked just fine, you just need to get the sandwiches right.

We've had tons of threads here on SCS regarding this subject and it is worth your time to do a search in both the general thread and the tool thread and read what has been said. Have fun, you will be surprised at the fabulous information that awaits you!

Default yes you can.....

I just googled "using a XL Big Shot die cut on Cuttlebug machine" and here is the website I found that shows you can use the XL dies in the cuttlebug :

http://amysinkyfingers.blogspot.com/...cuttlebug.html

I'm so excited. I am planning on ordering some in the future.

Appreciate the help...take care...

Oh Gosh - I COULD NOT Agree MORE!!! And that baby one is kinda creepy!!

Did you know that ProvoCraft is conducting a survey right now on what WE want to see? That was definitely one of my suggestions - move away from that kiddie stuff! If you want to make your voice heard too, you'll find the link in my signature. Thanks for helping spread the word and good luck on the giveaways if you do take time to complete it (about 2-3 minutes)

AND -
One of the other DT gals shared this with me and it's a great help I find on figuring out the "sandwich" for all the other manufacturers:

I have two sets of b plates for my CB
and in a pinch I just taped them into two pairs of extended pads with clear packing tape and they work great with the new long dies ...
( flatest nicest ones underneath.. ratty ones for the cutting surface...)
same as the baskets size...
I'm sorry to say that I freaked out like a 5 year old when I saw that the stupid extender plates were not in fact the right size to go through the cb...
my 6 y-o just shook his head...
"yoo must be SO dis na pointed mama..."

it was funny... later on...!

Does anyone know if the XL plates that SU sells are too wide for the Wizard machine? I really want some of the new XL dies, especially the new matchbox one coming out!
