Default Stampin UP Big Shot question

Is Stampin Up's Big Shot machine the same as sizzix's Big Shot machine? Also does Stampin Up's Big Shot do the same things as the Sizzix's Big Kick?

Yes, it is the Sizzix Big Shot. I <3 my Big Shot. I just cut 16 pieces of fabric at once with it!

I've never used the Big Kick, sorry..

I use my Big Shot every single day... honestly (SU is my full time job). Get the SU Big Shot--it comes with a demonstrator who will teach you how to use it and answer your questions!

The SU Big Shot and the Sizzix Big Kick look a little different on the outside, but the mechanics inside are the same. The Big Kick will do anything the Big Shot can do - and you can get it at a chain store with a coupon.

I like the look of the all-black SU version, but not enough to have paid almost twice as much as what I did

Love LOve LOVE my big shot. I use it on over 1/2 of my projects. The difference between it and the Big Kick is that the BK has a wider feed--6" and will accommodate a wider range of die sizes. So occasionally you will see a die that says BK only, there are not a lot but if you like the BIG BIG dies it is something to consider!

The SU Big Shot is the same as the Sizzix Big Shot. The Big Shot and the Big Kick do the same thing. A lot is a matter of preference. I chose to invest in a Big Shot as I preferred it's handle over the Bick Kicks. One thing to look out for now is that Sizzix came out with the Big Shot Pro machine and dies for it. Other than the Big Shot Pro dies all others can be used in both the Big Shot and Big Kick.

Actually, the Big Kick is a smaller machine than the Big Shot. The Big Kick is made to cut paper and cardstock. The Big Shot is able to cut through thicker materials, too, because the feed area height is larger than the Big Kick, although they both have the 6" wide feed. I made a really cute set of coasters as a gift using my Big Shot to cut through cork board.

The Big Shot Pro is the newest Sizzix machine out. It is the biggest and most expensive. This is the only Sizzix machine that can cut the Bigz Pro dies (these are up to 12" wide).

Actually, my Big Kick cuts thru much thicker material than cardstock - as long as I am using Sizzix dies and not Sizzlets or Nestabilities or Cuttlebug dies. The multipurpose pad that comes with both machines is exactly the same and the cutting stack for different dies and embossing folders is exactly the same for both machines, which wouldn't work if the feed area height wasn't the same for both.

As far as I'm aware, the Big Shot and Big Kick are essentially the same machine and work the same. The Sizzix website states both the Big Shot and Big Kick work with the "entire" Sizzix library of dies except for the Bigz Pro dies.

I just prefer the look of the Big Shot much more, plus I bought it from myself!

As others have said, the Big Kick and the Big Shot are the same machine. Cosmetically they look a little different; but their working parts are the same size, and you can use the same dies and cut the same materials in both of them. I bought my BK from HSN about 4 years ago, and I got a great deal. You can also use a coupon on it at the large craft stores. No offense to any demos, but you don't need a demo to show you how to use it. There are lots of videos and projects online.
