I used the Fiskars stamp press in a class at Archiver's. It was great with acrylic stamps and you could see right where you were positioning the stamp. It has foam "feet" that squish down when you push on it, so it didn't require a lot of pressure. I thought it was great.
Since I bought my stamp press I haven't used my acrylic blocks at all. It is great! I got the largest one, but I hear they have a mini one, and I'd like to check that one out, as well.
It's convenient being able to set it down, and deciding if that's the place you really want to stamp, without having to 'commit' to it.
The Stamp Press is great! It's particularly nice to use for Christmas cards or other cards you are "mass producing." You get the same impression every time you stamp and you can stamp multiple images all at once.
I love the professional Stamp Press made by Speedball. It's all metal, with a large cushioned base, and with the press of a handle, you get perfect impressions with large wood-mounted stamps as well as unmounted. Costs more than the little plastic Fiskars gadget, but it is much sturdier and more versatile.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions, ladies. The thing I think I remember seeing years ago had some kind of apparatus that lowered the stamp on to the paper, then lifted the stamp. Has anyone seen anything like that?
