I have just received my set of Labels 8 in the post. I am wondering what to store them in? All my other sets fit into CD cases that I have taken the centre out of and lined with magnetic stuff, but of course Labels 8 are too big for these. Any ideas?

I just posed this question over on mission organization, but thought you all might be able to help too. How do you store the Grand Borders that are 12" since the Spellbinders case is only 11"? Is there a storage solution for the plates, 12" accessories, and the Grand dies?

I haven't really found a storage solution for my 12" border dies so hopefully, someone else will chime in with an idea. I do have a whole wall of magnetic sheets that I put all my favorite dies on but I didn't put my border dies on there cause they take up so much space! Sorry....

I emailed Spellbinders and they said they use a 3 ring binder for the Grand dies in their office. Thank you for reading and thinking about this. Guess I will go with a binder also.

Did you try shimming? Start with one sheet of cardstock for a shim and work your way up. I have cut thin acetate using Labels 9 and my Big Shot with no problem. What sandwich are you using?

I figured it out with the help of a friend... I needed a sheet of cardstock between the acetate and the cutting plate. I was getting good enough pressure, but it was leaving too much still "attached". But with the cardstock below, it cut through them both.

Wahoo!! thanks!

I found thin CD cases at Best Buy. I put magentic strips on the side without the spindle and they fit perfectly. I have a photo

ok, it might not work, so here is a link to a post where I show it.

Thank you Kimberley. I have plenty of those and even got one out to use, but as I couldn't remove the inner part that holds the CD/DVD I didn't think there would be enough space for the dies. Of course I didn't have the smarts to actually try and see if they fitted! LOL. Maybe they would also hold unmounted stamps that won't fit into the smaller CD cases.

Please bear with me if this has been asked before, but which Nestabilities circles and ovals work with the pink and purple Marvy scalloped punches? Thanks!

I don't have the scalloped ovals and there isn't a "perfect" match with the scalloped circle dies but hopefully the attached photo is helpful.

Happy Crafting!

Clarifying post # 252

The dies shown are the middle dies (the smallest and the largest dies are not shown as they were not close in size to either of the punched shapes.)

Ok, now that I've decided to give nestabilities a try. What is a good price for them?

You will love nestabilites. I prefer combining a large scallop with a small shape or a small scallop with the large shape that fits inside. That way there is a more pleasing border around the shape. That means you are better off to buy the set of four like this http://spellbinderspaperarts.com/classic-ovals.html when you can. From my limited experience it is good to go to www.ritzcamera.com in their scrapbooking section where you can search "nestabilities." Also, if you want to buy one at a time, www.cutathome.com has a 40% off coupon on one item each month. Hobby Lobby has a limited supply, and using a 40% off coupon is a good price.

OK, another question. Is there a difference between "classic" and "standard" circles and ovals? On one site, I've seen "classic;" and on the other, I've seen "standard." I want to make sure I'm getting the right ones. Thanks.

Default Large Classic Scallopped Ovals and Circles

I finally bought both of these nesties, and now want to add the plain corresponding ones to them. However I like the narrow border between my plain and scallop and if I want to keep it to 1/8th inch does this mean I should buy the "Small Classic" Plain Nestie, as opposed to the" Large classic" ? Hope this makes sence.

I just noticed that when I layered two of my scallops together there is 1/4 inch border between them. I am used to using punches where they are much closer together. Thanks so much, I thought I had this all figured out. But I am glad I did not buy more now that I can see the width of the border.

Thanks for any input on this.

I didn't check if the specific dies asked about are listed but Marco's Papers website includes the measurements on their pages of Spellbinder dies. Here's a link to the first page (not sure how many pages they have):

If you nest two large (or two small) that are consecutive in size, you will have 1/4 inch border.

If you nest a large and a small that are about the same size, you will have 1/8 inch border.

I don't quite understand the scallop question. If you put a large scallop with a large classic, you see only the scallops. I like to use a large scallop with a small classic and see more border.

I copied this from spellbinders website. Maybe it explains it better. http://spellbinderspaperarts.com/classic-circles.html

Classic Circles feature four sets of Circle Nestabilities®, including two straight-edge shapes, S4-114 Standard Circles LG and S4-116 Standard Circles SM. These two sets are also found in Nesties™-004. Also included are two classic scalloped-edge shapes, S4-124 Classic Scalloped Circles LG and S4-125 Classic Scalloped Circles SM.

Purchasing the Nesties™ Set saves 20% over buying each individually.

The difference between die template sizes within a Nestabilities® set is ½”, which becomes a ¼” border when layering. The difference between LG and SM Nestabilities® sets is ¼”. Combining both the LG and SM sets of Nestabilities® will allow for ⅛” borders when layering.

Here is the link to the ovals http://spellbinderspaperarts.com/classic-ovals.html

Actually you understood my question as I hoped. I was endeavouring to find out which two sizes would give me the 1/8th border. I have been used to using punches in the past and like the small borders I was able to achieve.

I like to layer two scalloped pieces of different colors ( circle) and off set the colors. When I tried this with my Large Scallops the border was larger than I usually use and did not achieve the same look.

Thanks so much for the advice. Off to buy the smaller size .

Having major issues with a pendent die. I can't get my fluer de lis die to cut in two corners. I shimmed it adding shims until I got my sandwich stuck and had to back it out and it still didn't cut. I am using two pieces of thin chipboard and a sheet of cardstock. I am running it thru and turning it 90 degrees and running it thru again. It is so tight running thru that it is actually embossing as it cuts. I used a marker and I marked which corners are not cutting thinking that it is the way it ran thru. It didn't matter which side I put thru first, the same corners didn't cut. So now what?

If you have shimmed it and rotated it and it's still not cutting, I'd call Spellbinder's customer service on Monday. The intricate dies like the fleur de lis are sometimes difficult to cut, but rotating it should take care of it.

Default Die Carrying Case

Hopefully I'm not repeating an earlier question... don't have time to read all the pages, but maybe someone can help? I carry my dies back and forth with me to work a lot (I'm a LSS manager) and needed something sturdy to carry them in. CD cases were getting too heavy and cumbersome, and they break too easily. I ended up buying the Spellbinders Die Carrying Case and I really like it, except for one MAJOR problem! They don't sell refill pages for inside, nor are the ones they DO sell big enough for the larger size dies! Is there anyone that uses this case and has come up with a solution to this problem? Right now I have all the larger dies stuffed into the zippered pockets that are inside the covers, but they're getting tangled. I like the portablility of this case, but without enough pages/pockets, I have to store multiple sizes and shapes in pockets together, and it's not as organized as I'd like to be.

Well, after a phone call and a couple of emails, they are sending me a new die. I should have asked her to send me a couple of new feet for my Wizard while I was at it. Somehow in the last few years I have lost two of the little round rubbery things off the bottom.

I am having trouble with the Fleur de Lis cutting. I have tried using some waxed paper as someone suggested and it hasn't helped. Even using shims and waxed paper, turning in different directions, I have been running it through my CB 5 or 6 times still not getting a good cut. I have only used 1 or 2 layers of waxed paper. Is there a secret to this? Thanks in advance for a reply as I am really hating the fact that this was a purchase, not sure I want any more of them.

I would call Spellbinders Customer Service and explain to them all the trouble you are having.

Sorry about that I hit the wrong key and it sent before I could finish. Anyway what I was going to say, was, Thanks Debbie I think I will have to because I tried again with several layers of wax paper and it did not help at all. I used new "B" plate. There is nothing wrong with my "C' plate. I used other dies and didn't have any problem at all. It is just this one.

I have the original wizard (from when they first came out) and love it, but I'm having trouble with grease. I had spent an hour+ cleaning it with Qtips, etc. a couple months back.

I'm just curious if anyone else has had this problem?

TIA.

Is there a way to ink the outside edge of an embossed oval or other shape? I've cut and embossed them but the way the die is set up, I can only figure out how to color the raised area, not the outer "frame" part. Thanks!

You sure can! It's called reverse stenciling and you can see a tutorial for it on my blog here:

Basically, you use craft ink to ink up the edges of the die BEFORE you run it through your Wizard (or Cuttlebug or BigShot, etc.). Then the ink transfers to the paper and VOILA!! Pretty cool ...

Default Size of Nesties

Can anyone tell me if any of the nesties are the same size as SU's extra large oval scallop? The new catty says it's 1 3/4" x 7/8". I can get a nestie set for just a tad bit more than one punch and would like to get the "Oval All" stamp set and have a punch to go with them. Anyone???? Thanks.
