I hope I can explain what I am asking Lets say I purchase the single pack of circle nesties and a single pack of scalloped circles. I want to get the wider width for layering but I cant because I dont have the other sizes of the circle and scallop. Can I buy the other size to go with the sets I already bought? Or do you have to buy the double sets right off the bat?

You can buy each of the sets singly if you want to. cutathome.com has a good selection and pretty good prices with a coupon if you sign up for their newsletter. You can also buy them directly from Spellbinders, too!

Wink Hobby Lobby Coupons

I am building my inventory of nesties, and I use the Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon every few weeks to purchase them. Saves me a lot of money, and I haven't found anyone that can beat the prices.

Their home offices are in Peoria (which is a suburb of Phoenix), but they do not operate it as a store front. When they first started out they used to do all their own manufacturing as well, but due to the demands of consumers (we are like LOCUSTS when we find something we like, aren't we??) they switched their manufacturing to a plant in China (which makes it MUCH cheaper for US).

I have the Big Shot Express (electric version) and the multipurpose platform that came with this machine does not include the "tabs" as shown in the video of how to do the sandwich to do embossing with the Big Shot. Does anyone know the correct way to do this with the single piece platform?

I have a purple Wizard and I am having problems using StampinUp Sizzlet dies. It cuts, but not all the way through (the back has an indent, but not cut), so I can't even push it out. I have 3 Bigz dies and they all work fine.

I have tried all sorts of sandwiches as well as doing foam up and foam down, but they all result in the same way.

Any suggestions?

Oooh, and I forgot to mention, I had someone who owns a BigShot test my sizzlets and they worked in her machine, so I know the die should work.

Here is a video showing how to use the Sizzlets with the Rasberry Wizard. I talked to another design team member and she said its the same sandwich. If it doesn't work, pm and let me know.

Does anyone have any information about this Wizard? I bought it from a gal on the boards who is not returning any messages.

ETA:

I contacted spellbinders back in late November through the website, and never got a response from them.

Do you have a Tan Embossing Mat from Spellbinders? You need this mat when embossing die templates and Impressabilities.

Here is a video showing how to cut/emboss Spellbinder die templates with the Cuttlebug. The embossing step is the same for Impressabilities! Hope this helps!

There isn't much of a border. If that's the look you like, go for the large plain. If you use the next size down on the plain, there's a rather big border.

If you buy the small plain to go with the large scallop, then you will have about a 1/4" border around the oval.

So if you want a normal size border, get the small. If you want a smaller border, get the large. Personally, I have both so I have all the options!

And check out Scrapbooking Alley for the Nesties - awesome prices, free shipping, no sales tax.
This was exactly my question as well. Thank you for having an abundance of information in one thread! Awesome!

I've always used the cuttlebug but mine just broke, now I'm trying to decide between either getting another bug, upgrading to the wizard, or someone else suggested a big shot. What are your opinions on the wizard vs the big shot?

I recently upgraded from the Cuttlebug to the Wizard. While there was a bit of a learning curve, I really like the Wizard. In fact, I prefer it over the Cuttlebug. I haven't tried the Big Shot....

I saw the response to your question about embossing nesties using the BS express but the answer was a sandwich to 'cut' not emboss. Did you ever figure out the correct way to emboss the nestie? I just got the express yesterday and I can get it to cut everything but haven't figured out the nestie embossing thing yet. That's one of the main things I want this for. Hope someone can help here! Classic Ovals or Petite ovals.... Which would be the most versatile? Just starting buying Nesties, and after purchasing the classic ovals I read where some think the petite are better if you want to use them for sentiments as they are narrower. Any opinions? Thanks much.

I bought the classic ovals first. I just bought the petites and have already used them more and it is for the sentiments that I have used them. Also, I just bought the small oval SU punch because it will fit in the smallest of both the petite oval small and petite scalloped oval small. The punch will be closer to the top and bottom edges than the side edges of the nesties, but it will work rather nicely for some of those smaller phrases and words.

Thanks for the heads up on the SU punch. I have the ClaSSIC scalloped circles and Classic scalloped ovals the latter which was just purchased this week. The day I purchased it ,I read that the smaller might be the better way to go and you also get more dies. I am just starting with Nesties and trying to make smart decisions as to what get the best usage. It is so easy to get caried away with punches and dies and they just keep coming out with more and more to tempt us.

When I bought my peitite ovals and petite scallops, I bought the set of four and saved money. Plus I signed up at www.cutathome.com for a monthly 40% off coupon on one item and saved even more.

When I say "set of four," I mean the Petite ovals large, Petite Ovals small, Petite scalloped ovals large, and Petite scalloped ovals small. You know that when you buy the nestablities that the large and small of any shape are coordinated to stagger every other one for size, which means the smallest oval small fits with about an 1/8 inch border inside the smallest oval large, etc. Does that make sense?

I never planned on buying so many Nestabilites, but I love using them.

One of the dies from plain classic ovals has chips in it and little shards are sticking up from my blade that I keep poking myself on. Is it safe to lightly sand the shards off? Or how should I fix this? They get used a LOT but rarely dropped.

I have the same problem, rough edges and little shards, on one of my scalloped rectangles. I figured it was because this die more than any other embeds into my B plate.

Any successful experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

If you have rough edges on the dies you can easily sand them without any damage to the die as long as it is not the cutting edge of the die. That would distort the edge and you may not get good cuts any longer.

The original Nestabilities, once called Geometrics, that Spellbinders has had since the beginning of the company, were nested but during the manufacturing process all the shapes in each set were held together at the bottom and top by a small tang of metal. You would twist them apart. This left the little bits of metal from the tangs. I would either sand them or use a wire cutter to get them off if they bothered me. It's great that they are now doing them without the tangs. Just saves a step.

The chip is on the side of the die and isn't a big deal but the shards are on the actual blade of the die. So I think you're right, sanding it down might hurt the die. I'm just not sure how to fix it so I quit poking myself with it.

I have been trying to buy a set of Petite scallop rectangles and can't see them anywhere. Does anyone know if these are available. I have a set of the classic scallop already. I started off with buying the large classic scallop circles, ovals and rectangles, plus the plain ones, but have since bought the petite scallop in the circles and ovals and I think they are better than the classic scallop. Of course I now need all the small sets too! LOL.

A set of "petite" scalloped rectangles doesn't actually exist (which is why you couldn't find 'em!). However, the long classic rectangles (large and small) DO have a more "petite" scallop to them ... see?

Hope this helps ya at least a LITTLE (you should feel enabled to get yet one MORE set you don't have!!)!!
