Contact Spellbinders customer service on Monday at 888 547-0400. Sometimes a hande will go bad and they can help you with that. Also explain to them about your mats. They are a consumable product which will need to be replaced every so often, but tell them about what is happening to them.

Default Nestabilities dies, are they just for cutting paper?

The Sizzix dies can cut material and mat board. Can I cut other than card stock with Spellbinders dies?

Thanks!

Using my Spellbinders dies and my Wizard, I have cut:
cardstock
thin chipboard (think cereal box)
fabric (needs to be run through more than once, depending on the thickness)
felt
rolled thin and dry paper clay
thin corkboard
foil

hope that helps!!

Wendy or anyone,
I just bought a QuicKutz die. Can I use that in my cuddlebug? Would I use the same sandwich as for Spellbinder dies? Thank you

Thanks, Cathy. I called Spellbinders and they said they'd send me a new arm. I hope it comes because I really really don't want to change from the Wizard.

Quickcuts dies are totally different from Spellbinders so I would look at the Cuttlebug FAQ for this info!

Good Luck!

I've used them in my Cuttlebug...there is a list in the manual for "other brand thin dies," and I use that. From memory, I think it's just spacer (white plate), B, die (cutting side up), paper, and then either B or C (try the B and if it goes through too easily and doesn't cut, use the C).
(For the original Sizzix type of dies, you'd use the "other brand thick dies" recipe, I think it leaves out the spacer plate).
HTH!

Yes, the sandwich for cutting and embossing is the same as the Nestabilities!

Hey, everyone: if you have a HObby Lobby near you, All spellbiners are 50% off. The good thing is they are giving out rainchecks if they are out of what you want. They might be doing it online too. Just FYI

I am also new to Nesties and I am in Love! I received my first package of them from Scrapbookingalley.com last week. Now I have started collecting them so to speak. I now have the 4/pk of Large/Classic Circles and Squares, the Daisey heads, label 4, and the Fleu De Lis Pendant. I am now getting ready to place another order with 2 different stores online and get the 4pk of Classic/Large Ovals, Label 1 or 8 maybe both, another pendant (undecided on which one yet-love them all), another flower, and a set of tags for stamping sediment on cards. I Love most all of the Nesties, I tend to be a little late jumping on new products but with what is spent on punches these are wonderful. I Love Nesties... Now I have to decide how to store these best for me. I have read so many good ideas but I have to figure out what is best for my style.

I find it hard to believe anyone could not like these. I have a CB and have had NO problem cutting and add 2 sheets of thin card stock as a shim and they emboss perfect.

I also love the idea of stamping first and die cutting/embossing second. Use a piece of repositionable tape to place the nesties in the right spot and die-cut away. I also have had zero problems removing any of my diecuts- I have read some people having some problems with the pendant dies and I have found to have some patience and use a paper piercer and it will come out perfectly every time.

I just got my first package of Nestabilities-as a christmas present from my grandmother.
She sent money and i used it to purchase these. I am so glad that Hobby Lobby carries them. Looking forward to use them in my Cuttlebug.

Default Cutting plastic packaging?

Is it safe to use the Spellbinder dies to cut the flexible plastic packaging the dies come in? Will it ruin the dies or machine to do this? The material seems similar to some of the embellishments for sale. I would be interested in cutting the die shapes and using alcohol inks on the cuts. But I don't want to ruin the dies or machine. Has anyone done this or know?

I have tried doing searches but haven't found the answer. So either this hasn't been asked or I am not searching properly. Just trying to think of a way to recycle the packaging.

Kath,

You won't hurt the dies cutting this material out. What machine are you using? If it's the Wizard there will be no problem, although you may have to run it thru twice. Not sure about other machines, though. The dies are pretty tough. One time I got a die that had been run over by a UPS truck and it still works great!!

I've tried this with my machine, (Cuttlebug) and some plastic works and some doesn't. Some plastic just gets embossed, some cuts badly, and some cuts well. No difference to the dies. I usually just save the packaging for windows in cards. It's worth a try! (?)

The links to the daily sneak peeks are on the Spellbinders blog! I think you've missed two days but you can go back and see them.

Default Textured Impressions Folders by Sizzix

Does anyone know if these can be used in the Wizard. The packging says it's only for use in a couple of the Sizzix machines. They don't look much different than a CB embossing folder - maybe a tad thicker. Anyone tried them in the Wizard (purple)?

Yup! They work just great ... use the same sandwich you do for the Cuttlebug folders and you should be good ta go!

Hi ladies. I am contemplating a Wizard (trying to decide between it and the Big Shot). Just wondering if there are any dies that it doesn't work with.

Thanks!

I have a Sizzix and also own some Nestibilities. How can I use them on the Sizzix? I had just purchased a Cricut when Stampin' Up! came out with the Big Shot. I do not need another machine. I would like to be able to use what I have.

I am assuming you are talking about the Big Shot? If so, here is a video tutorial done by Stacey Caron (president of Spellbinders) on how to use Nesties in a Big Shot:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7QN3MOWbBc

As for the Cricut ... we are talkin' apples and oranges here. YES, it is a diecut machine, but it is electronic, whereas the Wizard is manual used with manual diecuts. Does that make sense to ya?

Here is a link to the compatibility guide done by Spellbinders for ALL dies in the Wizard and how to use the Nesties in ALL other machines. Hope this helps :

So, are we talkin' the original Sizzix Press? Here are some instructions I copied straight from the Spellbinders website:

How do I cut with a Spellbinders Die in the Original Sizzix® Press?
You will need to use the Sizzix® System Converter by Ellison® and Spellbinders Spacer Plate to cut with Spellbinders Dies. Create the below sandwich stacking from the bottom up:
1. Place the Sizzix® System Converter into the Sizzix® Machine.
2. On the Cutting Pad, place paper to be cut, then Spellbinders Die, ridges down.
3. Place the Spellbinders Spacer Plate (Item# W 004) over the Spellbinders Die.
4. Use a 12x6 piece of cardstock and tri fold to use as a shim. Place shim on top of Spellbinders Spacer Plate.
5. Push through Sizzix® Machine to cut. NOTE: It may take several presses to cut larger Spellbinders Dies.
How do I emboss with a Spellbinders Die in the Original Sizzix® Press?
You will need to use the Sizzix® System Converter by Ellison® and Spellbinders Tan Embossing Mat to emboss with Spellbinders Dies. After cutting with a Spellbinders Die in Sizzix® Machine, remove paper shim and spacer plate. Create the below sandwich stacking from the bottom up:
1. Leave paper die cut in the die.
2. Turn over Spellbinders Die, placing it on Sizzix® cut pad.
3. Place Spellbinders Tan Embossing Mat on top of Spellbinders Die.
4. Place paper shim on top of Tan Embossing Mat.
5. Push through Sizzix® Machine to emboss the Spellbinders Die.

Am I getting closer??

Is this your machine? If so, then the sandwich recipes I put in the previous post will work. You will need the converter (also shown on this link), plus a Spellbinders mat and tan embossing mat as well:

What is the difference between the raspberry, the red, and the purple Wizard? I just ordered the red and didn't know there were different makes/models available. Thanks

There are only two colors ... purple and raspberry. The purple was the original Wizard, while the raspberry one is the "new and improved" model from last year (it looks kinda red in the picture) ...

Has anyone used Spellbinders Impressabilities in the Big Shot/Kick? If so, what are the sandwiches you have used for the various effects (embossing, stenciling), and how do you like them relative to similar products? ... They seem to emboss as an embossing folder does, even though they're a single sheet.
Here is more information about them, including a video demonstration on the Wizard: http://www.creativeplaystamps.com/sp...ies-c-406.html

Default shapeabilities cupcakes

Does anybody else have trouble with these? What is the best way to use them? I have had these for close to a year and haven't used them yet, only tested them as I find them very uninteresting and am very disappointed with them.
Can anyone help?

I LOVE 'em!! Here is a card I did with them shortly after I got them last year:
