Joann's has the two items you need for embossing the Spellbinders once you have cut it in the Vagabond. You do not use the tan rubber mat from Spellbinders. Instead you use their texturz pad and silicone mat:

Sizzix® BIGkick & Big Shot Silicone Texturz Accessory | Joann.com

Sizzix BIGkick/Big Shot Texturz Accessory-Impressions Pad*| Joann.com

You also need the wafer-thin die adapter to do the cutting with thin dies like Spellbinders and Quikutz. I don't think Joann's has it in stock right now. I just bought a Vagabond and I finally located one in stock at BlueMoon, where I also got a set of extended cutting pads (6 1/4 x 14 inches) so I'll be able to cut long decorative strip dies and XL Bigz dies.

28 657160 Sizzix Solo Thin Die Adapter

28 655267 Sizzix Cutting Pad Accesory

I have to say BlueMoon customer service is amazing. I put a question in on their web contact form and someone called me within five minutes to answer my questions! Nice!

Last, this video from Tim is a must-watch as he explains how to use all these items to use the Vagabond with other company's products:

‪tim holtz - vagabond versatility‬‏ - YouTube

"get all of your questions answered right from the source. tim holtz demos how to use the vagabond with alterations as well as cuttlebug, spellbinders, and quickutz dies and folders..."

Enjoy! Can't wait for mine to arrive!

Default Fancy Tags - 2 question

I bought the Fancy Tags 2 set of 3 very cute tags, but I especially LOVE the 2nd one, which has an oval shaped center and I thought my small oval nesties would nest in the middle of the tag center and look great...however, the shape is different and I'm so disappointed. Do I have the wrong oval set or isn't there a nestie product that will nest in that tag?

Thanks for any help or otherwise, just letting me vent.

I have been wondering about the edgeablities also. I have a wizard. I bought the set of long skinny cutting mats a while back and haven't used them. Is that what I should use to be able to use the edgeablities in the Wizard?

Yes, I do. But I am biased. In all honesty, if you are looking to order a set or two, I would suggest Classic Scallop and Classic Triple Scallop. Beautiful sets, with timeless designs that you can use on any project.

The best part is, all the Edgeabilities work together, so you will be able to mix and match the Edger and the Decorative Inserts from every single set!!

Hope that helps.

Yep! Those longer mats were intended to cut the Grand Borderabilities (12" borders), but use them for the Edgeabilities too.

Keep in mind that you will only be able to create borders as wide as the mats that way. (just about 2")

I think I posted this elsewhere, but didn't find the answer...can Edgeabilities be used with a Big Shot? Specifically, since the Edgeabilities are 8" wide, how can I use them to cut the end of a 5.5" card. The gals from Spellbinders said they would tell how, but I can't locate that either. Any thoughts?

Default Spellbinders/nestabilities/Wizard FAQ

Thanks for the responce. I did watch a video and am glad I will be able to use my "bug". As I will only use them for cards, I should be okay and they also showed some good ideas how to use them for that purpose. Hope to pick some up in a a couple of weeks.

I have seen a card that somehow had the front folded and then half of it was cut with a nestability. It probably doesn't sound very clear I know, but it was very effective. When I tried I couldn't remember how it was done. Anyone have any ideas as to what I am talking about! Don't even know if I do actually! LOL.

I think I know what you mean, but I can't recall where I saw it.
Some one used a rectangle card the tall way . They folded it as usual and used an oval Grand die ( I think) and cut just the top and right side of the front so part of the inside of the card was visible.

Kazan does creative things like this maybe it was on her site.
Now you have me wondering where I saw it LOL

Yay! Thank you, thank you. I am sure that was the one I saw done, but I think that maybe with the card I saw, the girl who made it had folded that top half under and not back IYKIM. I will check that out next time I am in my LSS. Either way would look OK I guess. I will have to have a go at it now.

Just bought the new Spellbinders Ironworks Motifs - so beautiful! But how can I get the embossed paper out of the die without defacing it? I use a toothpick to push through the holes but it also puts a dent in the embossed place.

Put a piece of wax paper between the die and the cardstock. It will release from the die very easily. Some of the intricate dies need wax paper between the die and the cardstock.

Barbara - Thank you! I was concerned that the cut would slip and embossing would be difficult, but it worked like a charm!

I have tried a search and the answer is that there is no match - I have also glanced through several pages here with no results, so I am hoping some one has this information...
I just got the Spellbinder Spiral Blossom 2 - now I need a tutorial on how to make it look like a flower. Can you help me find one?

Here's one (by my BFF Heidi Blankenship) showing the Spiral Blossom 1 die ... it's the same procedure for doing the #2 die. Hope this helps!!

In this tutorial, she cuts her own spiral but the construction is the same. Try wrapping the spiral around an embossing tool first just to break the paper fibers, then roll as she does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq_URjXDHDo

I made some with the Blossom 2 die out of craft foam and adhered the center with a glue dot, and added leaves cut with the Rose Creations leaves - they look amazing! (My granddaughter and I were sticking flowers on headbands).

Dorothy, were you ever able to figure it out? I got one and absolutely hate it!!! I have looked at a couple of tutorials and can't find one that has enough steps to clearly see what is supposed to be done. I have tons of SB dies, and this is the only one I am disappointed in. I took it to our "play night" at my LSS. She has one on back-order and neither one of us could really figure it out.

Luckily, I got it with a bundle pack through scrapace.com and the other set is the one I was really after. I hope you have better luck than I did. Will just be happy with my other SB dies.

Actually, Cindy, I have not gotten around to trying it yet. I am kind of like that - if I have something a bit intimidating I tend to put it off
Funny, we must have scored the same ScrapAce special - I have not used a lot of the others, either, but I know I will. I will be trying...!

Dorothy, I'm sure we scored the same Scrapace deal. Love that site. I have decided to put it away for now and continue to look for a tutorial I can understand. But the other set I got I cannot wait to play with that this weekend. I fell in love with them when I saw it on the SB blog. Way too cute. Good Luck with yours.

Hi. I was wondering if the Grand Nestabilities fit in the Cuttlebug or if they were too big? As well as the Borderabilities and Frameabilities? Sorry if this has been asked and answered---I looked, but couldn't find the answer.

Thanks.

Some of the Grand dies will fit - some are too big for the Big Shot, too. Your Borderabilities and Framabilities should be fine.

Does anyone know if the new Wonderful Wings Grand Shapeabilites will fit in the big shot? From the sizes listed on the web sites they look like they should, but they are listed as Grand Dies.

RE: ORCHARD HARVEST die set:

Cindy, I have not yet used the labels dies from the Orchard Harvest set, but here is one of several cards in my gallery which has the leaf dies:

Default using nestabilities with Big Kick Machine

Hi. I've been noticing that some of my nestabilities (usually but not exclusively- the larger more intricate ones) do not cut completely through the paper when I use them with my Big Kick machine. After I use the correct sandwich and pass them through, I often have to go at them with an exacto knife to release them. This is really annoying. Any idea why this might happen or what the fix is? Also, I notice a cracking noise when I roll them through. It sounds like the two acrylic plates on top are cracking, but after I pass them through and examine them, they're fine. Is this normal in the Big Kick machine?

Thanks,

Also, I notice a cracking noise when I roll them through. It sounds like the two acrylic plates on top are cracking, but after I pass them through and examine them, they're fine. Is this normal in the Big Kick machine?

Thanks,

The cracking noise is actually the paper cutting. The sound, which can be alarming, is okay and nothing to worry about.

Now, if you are having issues getting your dies to cut all the way thru, you may need to turn the die 90 degrees and pass it thru one more time. Different machines have different pressure points so every machine is different. I bet if you will give that a try, it will cut all the way thru.

Smiles (sorry it took so long for you to get an answer)

Has anybody used Donna Salazar's "Creative Pages Two"? The dies look so interesting, but just wondering if really it's worth the money... The examples and samples on SB pages look amazing as always, but once you get past that, well.... Any opinions? Thanks!

bluehorse - I work for Spellbinders so I know I'm biased but I really "personally" love Donna's Creative Pages Two! There are 11 dies in the set and lots of different things you can do with the dies beyond mixed media books! So much packed into this set...tags, tabs, pages, pockets, frames, a border... it's one of my favorite sets from the summer release! Hopefully you'll hear from a few others too!

KimInIowa, quick question: can you use this "creative pages two" in a Big Shot? Is a 6" width ok for the larger border dies? Thanks!
