I ordered one from the infomercial last week. I know, I know, but I was up late with my new grandbaby. Anyway, I keep calling the customer service # and all they tell me is that my order isn't even in their system yet so they can't check on it to make sure they received it. AHHHH, I want my Slice!!!!

Sometimes it will stop cutting all the way through, sometimes it tears your paper, sometimes it just goes all wonky.

Hmmmm, I'd say "no".

Like Novell, I home it when I switch Design Cards, and beyond that, it seems to need homing infrequently . . . mebbe when I switch thicknesses of paper and have to loosen or tighten the blade.

You might put in an email to Customer Service at www.whyslice.com tho, and ask what the norm should be.

I find with different cards, I have to home more often. When I use Mistletoe, I have to home frequently. With the older cards, I don't.

hmm...thats odd that it only cuts that one design wonky. sounds like you tried all the things they will ask if you did too.
best thing to do is to call first thing Monday morning, thats the fastest way to get a response.

will it cut other cards ok? is it just this one that is behaving badly? it may be a faulty card.

I'm sorry its misbehaving. hope they can fix you up quickly

Okay Ladies, I need some serious help. I received the Slice last Christmas as a gift from DH. Well, I never had really good luck so I shelved it. So today I decided to give it another shot. It won't cut at all, seems like the blade isn't dropping down far enough. I adjust the blade pressure and even the blade itself no luck.

So if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

TIA

did you plug in and let charge for at least an hr?
did you try to tighten the blade as far as it will go, then turn back a little?
did you change the blade?
sorry, i know, 20 questions! i'm trying to think of all the ones they asked me when i called!
lets see, did you change cards and see if it will cut for a different one? soemtimes its the card not the machine.

also does the blade "home " properly?

I have tried everything that you suggested. Is the blade housing suppose to engage somehow?? It doesn't seem to drop down far enough to hit the paper.

i hope its an easy fix for you!

they are very good at making it right, they sent me a brand new machine the 2nd time i had to call! and a label to send the defective machine back at thier cost!

I have never had good luck with this machine. I hope it is easy I wanted to use it for gift card holders, but I guess I will have to figure something else out.

Thanks for your help.

Suzi, definitely call MM in the morning. I wouldn't be surprised if they have you send it in for repair. It doesn't take long and they'll include some goodies for your trouble. I think all of us that have had to send our machines in for one reason or another have been very pleased with how well they work after their 'tune ups'.

So I called MM this morning and was told to lube the blade housing. If that doesn't wok to call back. So as soon as my DH gets out of the shower I will get the WD-40 and lube er up.
I will let you all know what happens. Knowing my luck it will blow up or something,LOL ;P

Well, it worked no explosions of any sort. I used sewing machine lubricant instead of WD-40 easier to control the quantity of lubricant going in.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Update, it died. I was able to make the cuts for calibration and that was it. I won't move anymore at all. It sits there and makes an horrible grinding noise. I called MM back and they are going to replace it. I'm glad I tried playing with it or I would have been out the machine as Christmas is fast approaching and my warranty will be up.

Well how sad is this, lol. I made all of my Christmas cards and never sent them out so today I am going to work on Winter Solstice cards and send those out instead. At least I'll have my Christmas cards for next year already made. I don't feel badly. I finished editing my second novel and as soon as my editor, mom, reads it, it will go in for copyright. That was the biggie. The deadline I gave myself to complete both books in the series (science fiction/romance) was January 15th. There are actually going to be three, but I haven't started on the third. I want to give myself a breather plus my bday is tomorrow, so I'm taking a couple of days off from the books and will start again on Friday. It's back to work on Monday and Tuesday and then I'm off from the 30th until January 11th.

Default Can you download cutting files from the computer?

I could probably find this out if I searched every single post in this thread, but I'm too lazy. I'm hoping that you kind ladies will answer this question for me. I've been thinking about getting a Slice. I'm a card maker - not so much a scrapbooker anymore. Can I download .svg and other cutting files and use them with a Slice or are you confined to just using the Slice cards?

Also, I've seen posted here that the thickest CS a Slice can cut through is 80#. Has anyone had success cutting PTI CS? I just love their CS, and can't imagine not using it in my projects. I also use Poptone 100# CS . . . love that stuff, too. Anyone?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Karolyn, so far, no you cant download to the Slice, but i have heard rumor that they want to do that in the future. i'm hoping for that as well.

as for the PTI, i dont have any to try for you, but sometimes you can cut thicker cs by cutting the design twice. choose your design, cut, press menu then cut again without moving the machine.

i am mostly a card / small item maker too so the slice is perfect for me! and my budget LOL

Santa came with a pink Slice for me yesterday (Santa comes in the evening on the 24 th in Norway) and I am so thrilled. That is... untill it started making a horrible sound. Now it is jammed in some way. Nothing works. I can't home the blade, I can't cut anything because it does not move at all!
And I was planning on playing with the thing during the holydays. Anyone need what to do besides mailing support on MM?

Hmm, did you charge it fully before you used it or use it plugged in. Did you try turning it off, unplugging it for thirty seconds, plug it back in and try homing it again. I'm sure you put it on a power converter, but have to ask, lol. If nothing works, then the only thing to do is send it back to the store or email MM.

Any new Slice really needs to be charged at least overnight, despite the directions saying 1hr. Try charging, turning your machine on, and see if you can home the blade. If it is still stuck, you will definitely want to call MM. I suppose it could be a power issue since you are international and probably use a different voltage.

As for the question about PTI paper....I truly believe that the thicker the cardstock, the more you shorten your blade life. So, while you may be able to get it to cut PTI, you may run through your blade replacements much faster. Those are teeny, tiny blades.

That is exactly what mine did. I just sent it in they are going to tell you to lube it up with WD-40 or sewing machine lubricant first. Them try to cut mine cut long enough to calibrate it then it just made horrible sound and started humming.

Default It works!

Thank you ladies for the advice and it now works! Hurrah! I am thrilled. I do not know what happened, I let it be turned off for a long time and then plugged in the power again and then it just started working!

I have probably not charged it enough. Thank you for the advice!

But except for this minor problem it works perfect. It is so fast, it cuts out tiny small bits perfect and I am going to love this little pink thing!

Thank you!! That's what I suspected, but I thought I'd ask. I'd love to add one to my collection, but I think I'll wait for a bit longer.

Try again on Monday, I will be calling sometime Monday afternoon to check on mine. Also they are mountain time so you need to factor that in when you call.

I am hoping to have mine back by 1/8. I want to make some TY notes for my DH, for his birthday.

I imagine most places are working with a pretty skeleton crew over the holidays. If you have a ticket number and have returned your machine already, I'd give it 7 to 10 business days for your machine to come back to you before you start chasing it down.
