No. I just saw it on their website yesterday. I want to say it's just a way to market the Slice to people who sew or quilt, but I don't know. It could be different from the regular Slice, but I don't see how.

Default Hobby Lobby sale?

Does anybody know if there is a pattern to when Slice stuff goes on sale? I'm waiting (not quite as patiently as before!) for the Slice stuff to go on sale so that I can buy a new card with the gift card I got for my birthday. It's been three weeks now, and I'm really getting eager to spend it, but all I want is a new Slice card!
I noticed Cricut cartridges are on sale this week, so I was hoping maybe next week. But I say that each Sunday when I open the sales ad link. "Maybe next week!"

Help!

My Slice machine won't turn off! Has anyone had this problem before? Do I just have to let it go flat?

Thanks

Ok, now I am officially frustrated. My Slice is cutting wonky again. Could any of you girls/guys give me a step by step troubleshooting guide or info?

I did the Google thing but all info is all over the place. I want to do try step by step. I would be so appreciative.

PrincessKitty- I am pretty sure the battery is drained down. Try recharging if that doesn't work let us know.

Default Machine Troubles

Hi PrincessKitty,

If ever you have ANY difficulty with your SLICE machine, go to the Making Memories website and find the 1-800 number for your area. Call them and they will help you. They are really good and, if you need to send your machine in to them, they'll fix the problem or send you a new unit.

Hope that gives you some help.

I disagree with you, Alicesue, on the part where you say that they will fix the problem or send a new unit. They have changed their policies. My Slice broke down, and they will NOT fix it because it was a new unit replacement and they won't honor the warranty, even though the replacement was only 10 months old. I do agree that they will do everything they can to troubleshoot with you, but if the machine is broken, they are not as willing to replace it anymore.

Default RE: Slice

Hi

Yep I have already logged a ticket and heard back from MM, it appears to be a problem with the card reader, I hope I don't have to pay anything I've only had this replacement machine about a month and have used it twice, once when I first got it and last night, I have just sent off a reply asking what will have to happen and if I have to pay... from reading your posts I'm thinking the answer will be yes

It's getting to be very frustrating, tempted to just go back to using manual die cutting machines, I know that no machine is perfect but I just want something that works!

Hi

I have just heard back from MM and I need to contact my local distributor, which I have just done so I'm still not sure if I have to pay, MM did say:

"You retailer should once again replace this unit since you have just received it as a replacement. While we do have the year policy, we do want you to have a working machine.

The retailer is not limited in the time in which they can receive a credit for the defective unit so this should not be an issue for them."

Fingers crossed I can get something sorted out!

DeeAnn, do you have the calibration card? I have one of the first Slices and had to send for a calibration card when MM found a way to correct the wonky cutting. Maybe you could calibrate again?

Valerie, I'm waiting to hear/read feedback about the Elite, too. I'll get one if the changes are noticeable.

Really, though, I'm holding out hope for a 12" Slice that'll use the existing design cards (but cut them in the larger format). I love the MM designs.

Wouldn't that be great? BUt what would the machine look like? It couldn't be the same design, because it would be HUGE. It would have to be a different design, just something that would cut MM designs. Hmmm...

Yes, it would probably have to be something like the pass-through design that the eClips/eCraft/ Cricut/KNK/etc. use.

Whatever it looks like, I'd buy it if it could use the existing design cards!

OMG. That would be one mother of a machine, considering the way the Slice is designed! ROTFLMBO!

I have calibrated five times now. Isn't that crazy? I have oiled it, fussed with the blade and only use it when it's charged.

I am not having any trouble cutting. She cuts like butter. My shapes are so deformed. I cut a 2-inch butterfly the other day and it was lopsided. I cut the same butterfly at 4-inches it was slightly better.

It's deforming circle, buttons and scallops, a few of the letters.

Any ideas on how to fix the deformities? I will try any suggestions. TIA

Default Slice Elite

I just heard on another site that Mikes is starting to carry them in the store. I didn't see it in our store but you may want to ask your local store especially with Christmas coming up.

Ladies..does anyone want to purchase the Slice Card Wild West? I got it in the mail yesterday and I was so excited..ripped it out of the package when to add it to my slice storage binder and guess what....I already have it....I just don't believe I got it twice...
I paid $24.99 plus shipping but would happily ship it to you free for $20 or $22. The box is opened but the cartridge never used...get this...I have never used the first one either...how bad is that...lol. PM me if you want it. Blessings.

The tracking number claims that mine will arrive on Tuesday! I got a refurb with the design pack for $85. It includes the Basic Elements and Seasons MS+ design card and it has the full 1 year warranty. I already have the basics 3 card and the basics 2 is on it's way. I'm excited to try it!

No. They have such a huge selection of Slice cards, I'd really be sad if they didn't carry them anymore.

Our Michaels also still has a gang of design cards and they still have the accessories to go with the Slice. I did ask them if they are going to be selling "Vagabond by Tim Holtz (sizzix) machine" and they had no clue if they were going to carry the Vagabond or not". I'm glad though that I did pre-order my Vagabond. I still like my Pink Slice.
I'm just wondering if anyone here has bought the Elite Slice and how it's working or have there been any problems yet with it?

I just got back from my Michaels and they are carrying the new Elite Slice in Pink. It is 149.99. It was not on the store shelf yet but it was behind the counter.

I too love my Pink Slice!!! I also pre ordered the Vagabond and can hardly wait for it to arrive as well. With both of those, along with my dying CB I should be just fine with machines...... hee hee.....

Oh, someone told me could pay a $75 fee and trade in your current slice for the newer edition. You might check with MM about that. For now I'll hang on to mine until I hear how the new ones work.

Thank you all so much who checked with Mike's to see if they were discontinuing. That put my mind to ease. I am so excited to hear they got the Pink Slice Elite in. Too bad they don't have layaway, lol.

OH my gosh!! Layaway at Michael's or Hobby Lobby would be fantastic, wouldn't it? I've never put anything on layaway, but I love the concept.

Ok Ladies!!!

I am such a SUCKER!!! I was at Michaels today to pick up a Cricut Cart. My DH went with me...I was able to get the 89.00 cart for 27.99 b/c they honored Joann's add. I noticed that the Slice product were 40% off and I can't believe it but my husband bought me the pink ELITE...He new that I was frustrated in the original and have HIGH HOPE for the Elite. I really wanted the blue one be all they had was two pink one. I will have to give you guy the "low down" after I have tried it out. It is currently being charged and I hope I can get around to playing with it tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Valerie

I may have to go to Michael's for Slice cards tomorrow! I was mad today when I didn't see any Slice stuff on their Black Friday ad. So I'm glad they are on sale SOMEWHERE. I've been waiting for over a month for Slice cards to go on sale at Hobby Lobby, since I got a $35 gift card for my birthday, and then told my stepmom it would be great to get me another one for Christmas. I've been holding out for when they put their Slice stuff on sale. In the past they have put the Slice stuff on the weekly ad, but maybe they stopped doing that, and I just need to go in every week.
Anyway, at least Michael's is having a sale, and I plan to get LOTS tomorrow!

Oh, and I'm hoping my husband will order the Slice Elite for me tomorrow from craft-e-corner, because it's on sale for $99 tomorrow!! Maybe he'll just give me permission to order it.
After I'm sure it works, I'll give my old one to my friend who has absolutely NO die cut machines at all! I'll have to think about what design card to give her to go with it. Or maybe I should give it to my daughter? Is 9 too young?

I just got an email from Scrap-Mart. Black Friday sale. Slice Elites are $99.00 and all design cards are 50% off. Pretty darn good deal!

Erin...
Stop and Scrap dot com has an awesome sale this weekend. Their carts are 24.00 I think. I know it is free shipping over 100.00. I ordered 4 of the new released one including the Greetings, and Zootopia with the layers option. It is a pre-order item and I will have to wait for my pre orders to come in for my whole order to ship...I am ok with that knowing that I save a ton and knowing that I will get it eventually. I think I added the new Wrench to my order to push it over 100.00 to qualify for free shipping.
Hope that helps.
Valerie

P.S. I know I should know this but do you HAVE to still use the adhesive on the hands free glass mat? It seems that I remember someone mentioning that because of the magnets being so strong and the fact the machine cuts the innies first...you did not NEED the adhesive. Can anyone verify it?

My Daughters are 4, 8, and 12...they will share it for their projects. (They also have my original baby bug) I up-graded the design card 1, 2, and 3 and Weddings, and soon to be Noteworthy design cards. So my girls got the original ones. I think you are an awesome friend to hand down your Slice.
Valerie
P.S. When I picked up the Elite today at Michaels...It was cheaper than 99.00 after the tax was included...I think it was 97.42ish after tax. But it was only avail in pink (I have the blue original one and all the accessories and wanted to keep it the same.) Oh well it is just a color.
