Update on my Slice. It is still broken, lol. Making Memories wouldn't answer their phone on Friday. I told my DH they were probably busy preparing for CHA. I found out Utah has a State Holiday called Pioneer Days and many businesses were closed to celebrate. You are all so lucky if your in Utah. My State never does anything like that. !
Thank you, DeeAnn! I so appreciate you letting me know. Which scrapbook magazine did you find it in? I'd love to pick up a copy.

It is a Creating Keepsake Special Edition. The Title is Scrapbook Tips & Tricks. I bought mine at WalMart. I did see them at B&N today. It's 5.99 retail. The article is on Page 80.

I have an update on my Slice. DH took it apart yesterday. The tooth was not broken. It really looked like it though. It was bent at a weird angle. My DH was able to fix it. I have not tried cutting yet. I didn't get the time. Hopefully tonight I can get a chance. I have her charging right now. Crossing fingers that everything is fixed. DIY hubby's rock! !

My DH did fix it. She cuts quietly now. There is still that issue with wonky circles when cutting smaller. Other than that she works better than before. Any tips for wonky circles and scallops?

So what do you guys think about the fact that they are releasing a new Slice Elite machine? Will you bite and purchase a new machine? Wait to hear feedback on that new machine before you bite? Not bite at all?

I love the new bag design. So pretty!

In reading about the 'elite, the only two improvements I see is that it cuts 40% faster and can cut twice as deep. I have a cricut so the deeper is not a problem. For the single cuts (which the machine seems to be designed for) with the hands free, speed really is not a big problem. Even intricate designs don't really take that long. If I need multiple cuts that would take some time, I would use the Cricut (with SCAL 2 I can cut most any design anymore).

Hint: Scan any image from the Slice design card and then import the jpeg into SCAL to cut on the Cricut. If I have lots of multiple cuts of the same single design that's what I would do.

Now if I didn't have a Slice, it might entice me more and of course if I ever replace mine, it would be with the 'elite' version.

Wow..this is getting scary. I've been in Ben Franklin's, JoAnn's, and Michaels and didn't buy anything. And now I'm justifying why I don't need the Slice.

Do I really have all I need/want?

I do need some more Jetmax cubes for my room (have 20, need 27 to finish). Maybe that's it, need more storage space.

I am not biting either. I am going to sound so grumpy. I don't mean too. I think I have die cutting machine overload right now. First we get the Cricut Imagine. Now, we are getting the Slice Elite. Then we are getting the new eClips. I am sure there will be another one, lol. You should see my home now. I have five electronic die cutting machines. I think I have burnout.

Honestly, if I was only a die hard Slice user then I would probably upgrade since I do mixed media.

I only have two and I have enough. I have the Cricut Expression and Slice. I only own one cartridge with the Cricut also. 99% of my cuts with the Cricut are through SCAL 2. With their new upgrade I can just about cut anything. Google something, click 'image' and any clipart type image in jpg formate I can cut on the cricut.

The Slice is my Go To, it's small and sits right next to me on my scrap table making it just to easy to grab for some small cut. Also I take it to crops because of it being compact and lightweight. My daughter owns a Cricut Create and Slice. She takes her Cricut to crops. So we have both while there. She wasn't going to buy a Cricut (finances and she really doesn't have the room for one) but she won it. She loves it and always wanted one, but for her room Slice was a better fit.

I can see owning two machines, I can justify that (quite good at that when justifying to hubby why two). But can't see more then that.

I want the new 6x6 hands free mat. I think I'm going to do the pre-order on it through one of the websites. It's not very expensive and it would sure be handy. Sometimes I don't like to drag out the big mat.

I am excited about the 6x6 Hands free mat. I craft by my computer so I didn't want a big magnetic mat on my desk. Plus, I never needed the big mat.

I am guess I am getting the new Slice. DH says to me today after I show it to him. "You have to get it!" I asked him why. "I want your old Slice so I can mod it out!"

I am not joking! ROFL! I am still laughing about it. He is getting me the new one. Now, I am excited about it. Before I really wasn't interested. I do mixed media so I will be happy to cut out heavier materials.

ScrappinMoments- I use the Slice as my go to machine. It's really nice not to have to drag out punches, dies, mats, Gypsies, etc to cut out a scallop.

I have Two Cricut's, Gazelle, Silhouette SD, XPCS, and of course the Slice. I use my Silhouette only for Print & Cuts. It is set up with my Printer. Rarely, like once a year rarely I use it to cut. I had a Wishblade before that so I upgraded. I do use my Graphtec machines to print & cut constantly.

I was fascinated with die cutter's when they first came out. DH is my biggest enabler so he bought them all for me. Once I find my style I tend to stick with the Slice and designing my own files to use in the Gazelle. Now, my DH plays with the cutters since he fixes electronics and mods out things.

I'm not going to bite. I just got my pink slice w/pink accessories, so it would be a waste for me to buy the new one for less than what I just paid! In fact, since it was so recent, and they just came out with the new pink one the first of the year, I called MM and asked if we were going to be able to upgrade our current new "pinks" with a new blade to cut deeper and was told no. She said companies always upgrade their products and that's how it is; they have to get rid of the old product to make way for the new...... She was a little rude about it, so I'm keeping what I have.......

I think Zootopia is adorable! And maybe the new Halloween one....

I got the earlier "new" ones I wanted at the last Michaels sale. Guess I'll need another sale when the new ones come in (and I saw they have hanger hooks for them so Michaels IS getting them).

Just the ones you have listed the new designs, I can open the old ones. I mentioned it to them and they said they was working on the problems, but on this post it sounded like all of you could see the new designs.

It wasn't on the "copy" of the flyer but it was on the opening of the email when I opened it and before I "clicked" on "print coupon" link.

Just won a pink hand free on ebay. Not a great price (24.99 plus 12.95 shipping), but the total was just over $37. I haven't been able to find the pink one any cheaper then 39.99 then add shipping on top. So not bad.

I'm just happy to be getting one, will make me love the Slice all the more

Michaels had Slice items on sale last week. I was at Michael's Wednesday and no Slice sales. I would still take a peek if you are close by or going any way. Michaels has been running unadvertised Cricut sales this week. Some Michael's are running clearance sales over half the store. You might find a Slice surprise.

I was at Michaels looking for new MS Halloween punches and noticed the new pen tips are in but no Slice products are on sale. Did not pay attention to whether or not the new cartridges were in. And no special surprises in the Clearance section for Slice products, either, other than the Idea box being on sale for $9.99.

Did anyone happened to read on MM Blog and online at the CHA show that MM has now come out with a new slice called "Slice Elite"? It's going to be able to cut things that are thicker now. Where does that leave the rest of us who bought the originals? We put up with the wonky cutting and all. I hope they come up with something for us original Slice owners so we too can cut thicker things.

It leaves you with the original machine.

Manufacturers of all sorts of products make improvements on existing models. They do it on cars, they do it on electric mixers, they do it on die cutting machines. You don't get to upgrade your car without just buying a new one. You don't get the "new and improved" version of hardly anything without just buying a new one. It's the cost of technology.

You may recall I asked about the tail cuts mine did on everything, well in the end after much waiting and working with Slice Help people and sending photos they said my slice was defective! so I should return it to the shop I got it from (i'm in England you see) so I did that and got a 2nd machine, this did the same thing - but worse! This one cut tails so big it would cut through some fine detail shapes, so I sent that back I got number 3 yesterday this one is far more acceptable it does some tail cuts but not on every shape, usually just very fine detailed shapes, but what is freaking me out now with this one is sometimes the blade does not come down so it does not cut at all!!

I am now so frustrated and angry that having spent 129.95 and tried 3 machines I STILL dont have a slice in proper working order and now they bring out a new one! They should sort out their existing customers before worrying about ways to make more money still I supose there is no guarantee that this will actually work any better.

I came on here just to ask if anyone knows if this slice is faulty if it does not always cut the shape so I can send this back to? But saw this earlier thread about the new one. Sorry I got mad about that, but I really would like some help if possible with this 3rd slice, I dont know how many more times the shop will keep exchanging them for me!! or if I should see if I can just get my money back.

This slice goes through the motions of cutting, it just doesnt drop the blade down. This is a just out the box new pink slice it has been used plugged in with sprey glue and MM glue, after a few failed cuts I tried to adjust the blade depth and all that but it ended up not cutting anything at all then! I finally got it going at 10pm it seems faulty to me, am I right??

any help appreciated.

Thank you.

I think that sometimes the sensor for the blade can be tempermental. I taught Slice classes for a while. We found that a lot of people had this issue at first (including me) but it kind of just worked itself out. Mine never does that any more (okay, well maybe 1% of the time it does it). I have found that if my paper is not at least as large as the base of the Slice itself, this problem occurred more often. One trick I did frequently with this problem was to just barely hold the front of the Slice above the paper. When you hear the 'click' of the blade dropping, drop that front right down onto your paper and it will cut away. But again, I hardly ever have to do this any more. I really think the more it's used, the better it will start to work. I'm sorry you've struggled so much with getting a proper, working machine especially since you are out of the country.
