If you look on the whyslice website, you can click 'buy' just beneath it.

I clicked on it to see what would happen, and it said 'page not available.' It might be my computer. I'd love to get it, though. I like that font.

Question for those with the Slice handsfree system?
I just got it today, and it's beautiful! I can't wait to try it. HOWEVER...not sure what to do about adhesive. I already know I'm not putting the wet stuff on there. It will be spray stuff. I've been using a vellum spray on my old glass mat, and it's never coming off of there. I wipe it off each week, let it dry, and it's sticky again. Should I wait until I get the Slice adhesive spray? Or just use the vellum spray that I've got? I don't want the two to interfere with each other, you know? Knowing I can't dunk it and scrub it really good if they don't mix well. This vellum spray is probably 7 years old, and I'm not even sure they make it anymore.
Thanks!

Erin, I am using the liquid adhesive and then putting waxed paper on the hands free mat to keep it fresh. I haven't had to wash it yet, but I think baby wipes and maybe a plastic scrubber should do the trick, as long as I don't get the embossing side wet. I love the hands free, and I am using my Slice more than ever.

I have not received the Slice spray yet (it is sold out everywhere) but I took the packaging that came with with "Hands Free" set...The Acetate "covering that came in the packaging fits over the mat perfectly. So I took a ruler and Xacto knife and cut out the Acetate right on the "line" where the glass and plastic meet. So now the Acetate covers the Plastic Border only leaving the Glass exposed so hopefully "therortically" when I use a spray adhesive...it won't spray onto the plastic border,

Sure hope that makes sense,
Valerie

I got my handsfree system, and I LOVE it!! Those magnets ARE strong, and it's more difficult to move it into position, but that's my only complaint. I love how much easier it is to make a second cut through the thick SU cardstock. I just reached over and hit the button again. That was very convenient!

You're right about the strong magnet, Erin. Sometimes I worry that I'll damage the paper, but it's always OK. Great idea about the thick SU cardstock. I hadn't thought of that, but it makes total sense! This will save paper -- I appreciate it!

I am so glad you are all talking about the magnet. I work near my computer. That's all I need is my hard drive wiped out, lol. Seriously, I am glad you are all reviewing it. This really has helped me in deciding if I want to purchase it or not.

Yeah, you wouldn't want these magnets beside your computer. At the very least they might mess up your screen.

Years ago at work (UPS) I had a workstation where my computer was inside a cart, and the screen was beneath a glass window so that we could set the packages on top while we entered them in. Every now and then you'd put your package up there and the screen would start changing colors, and we knew that magnets were inside the box.

My new Basics 1 cartridge arrived today. They sent a booklet with it on how to do the calibration and a return envelope for the old cartridge. I like that they are taking care of this! So if you haven't registered your Slice, go take care of it.

I used my Slice yesterday when scrapbooking with a friend. I use it on every layout, nearly everytime I scrapbook. I asked her if she ever uses her Cricut, and she said no. She loves it, but never gets it out. This is why I love my Slice! It's so convenient, and having had a Cricut that I never used either, I need to stop looking at other machines as an 'extra' that do things my Slice can't do. Because I don't have room, and I'd never use it anyway!
I love my Slice!

I had to call on my Slice. Seems the first few cuts I make with it, everything is fine. Then it doesn't cut right. I leave it plug in the whole time. They think it might be the power cord not charging properly. IDK...anyway they are sending out a new cord. If that does not work then they said I will probably have to send it back.

She was very nice on the phone. I hope it all works out, because i love my slice. Its the first cutting tool I reach for.

I'm sure it will work out Penny. Hopefully with just the cord. I love my Slice, too!

I used my Slice tonight to finish my daughter's birthday cards. I used my handsfree mat, and it still cuts perfectly good even when it seems to be tilted on that raised edge. It seems like it wouldn't work, but I was trying to save time and paper by trying it, and it worked great. Anybody else?

I received one of the very first ones and it's still kickin'! MM has awesome customer service too. Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself and say "hi".

Question for you Slicers. Where do you buy your repositionable spray? Do I want the Slice brand or is there a comparable brand? TIA!

Hi! Here's a link where you can get some.

http://www.scrap-mart.com/search.aspx?find=slice+spray

You can use other sprays too just make sure they're repositionable so they'll clean easier. Personally, I prefer the Slice spray...but that's just me.

3 M makes a repositional spray that you can get at Michaels. It was like $14.99 per large can but you can use a 40% off coupon on it. That helps a lot.

Katie I love your baby card...I have a problem making baby cards...I am not sure why.

Have a great weekend ladies..hope you all get some slice time...

blessings.

Default Thanks for the tips Erin

Hi Erin in OKc. I do not, YET, have a Slice machine but ... fingers crossed ... I will get one for my birthday. Thanks, so much, for the tips on it's use. Always best to get the info from actual 'users' than from the company that makes something. Even their videos show to turn the blade 1/4 turn 'back'. Go figure!

Thanks to Sempermom, too. Love your sense of humour. Thanks for starting this thread.

Thanks to Avonlea, also, for making it a 'sticky'. Where in ON are you? I'm in Port Hope (just about an hour East of Toronto and on Lake Ontario.)

To all who support this thread, contribute and ask questions (that some of us didn't know existed!), A GREAT BIG THANKS!!

You're welcome!
I went back and read my post I think you're referring to, and I've since switched to the repositionable spray. Well, actually I haven't gotten there yet. I still have some vellum spray leftover, and I'm using that. I've only applied it once. When it's not sticky anymore I either rinse it off with water (original glass mat) then pat dry, OR, with the new handsfree mat that you can't submerge, I use a damp paper towel over the adhesive, and it makes it sticky again. I don't plan on ever removing any adhesive from it, unless it creates a problem when I switch adhesive spray brands.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and the welcome, Sempermom. I am working my way through the thread and finding all kinds of great women and great tips and ideas for the Slice. I am going to wait until the machines go back on sale at Michael's for my purchase. Like as not I'd buy it and it'd go on sale the next week. Happened to me more than once on other things!

Anyway, I'm enjoying the thread (Thanks for creating it) and, by the time I DO get mine, I should be nearly a pro from all the helpful advice on here.

Love your quote line. Have a rubber stamp that says "Without coffee, I'd have no personality at all." Ha ha! Love it!

Have a great weekend and remember to have a SLICE of life for me! :>D

crafterscompanion.com has a special right now on a "bundle package" of a temporary spray adhesive and spray remover for $15.95 for both. The reviewer used it for her Cricut pad and was very happy with the results.

Hi ladies!!!
I was curious is any of you have used the "SPRAY ADHESIVE" (any brand) on your "Hands-Free" Kit. Did any of you have an "issue" with the Plastic trim?

Hi Valerie! I have NOT used the new spray adhesive on my Hands Free Kit, mostly because I haven't had a need for any adhesive at all. Typically I cut on a scrap piece of paper that's bigger than my Slice, so when it attaches to the Hand's Free base, the paper doesn't move. I'm over the moon thrilled to death with that because I hated messing with that adhesive stuff. I'm sure if I cut something small than the size of my Slice, I'll have to use it, but for now, I'm happy that I haven't had to deal with that mess. I know this doesn't answer your question, but I thought I'd share anyways.

Hi Karolyn!!!
I know that the magnet is VERY STRONG and I see what you mean...but does it "mess up" when doing intricate cuts that have cut outs in the center of your images...w/o any adhesive does it mess it up? KWIM?
