I'm hesitant to try it given that SU! c/s and 110# c/s, etc. is more challenging to cut thru, UKWIM?

Mebbe someone will get brave and try it and report back! LOL!

I wish I had a Michael's closer than an hour away--I would have liked to have gotten refill blades for that price. *pout*

Ours had the 40% that was in the ad. Where are you that they had 50%?
I got Basics 3 and Spook Alley. I 'might' go back for Spring later on this week.

40% in Maryland also. I bought my daughter the Signature Handbag for it (29.99) and she bought Spook Alley ($23 and some change), the tool kit, and the design card holder.

Was (think it was only one day) a great sale for Slice. Rarely do I see any cutting machine items on sale.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale. I still have a raincheck from Cyber Monday for the Spook Alley card (for 19.99)...hasn't been in stock every time I've checked the past two months...maybe I should try again tomorrow!

Wow, think I'll have to head to Michaels today. I want Vintage Findings. That would make my collection complete (for now), lol. At 40% off, you can't beat it.

lol I would be mad if they were giving 50% at other places

I got the only copy of Spooky Alley they had. I'd like the Vintage Findings one also. Maybe more than Spring but I don't think they had the VF one. They had very few but the display boxes for everyone were out but they didn't have them all.

Snow and lots of slick roads here, lot of reports of black ice so I don't know if I will go today or not. My hubby is home sick today (he's driving me nuts, been sick all weekend) and men are such babies when they are sick. Can't sleep, won't take anything ..............

I went to Michaels. Have to say that I'm happy. I got the spring time card, some more glue and the SD card case and it cost me what one card would cost me. Happy camper here.

I went to Mike's also and got some more blades and the inspiration project box thingy. I must say, I was really disappointed in the inspiration thingy. I just don't think it was value for money, even with the coupon:C They didn't have the Vintage card either. They didn't have any design cards that I wanted:C Joann's is having an online sale of Slice products, but they didn't have the Vintage card either! Bummer!! I know, go call
1-800-waaa! sorry for moaning! I just need my kids to go back to school. They have been out for almost 2 WEEKS because of the snow here in VA!!! HELP ME, lol!

I went to Michael's today too. The only thing I picked up for my Slice was glue. I really want the Vintage card!
It's really frustrating to not be able to buy the newer design cards locally and have to pay shipping on them when I order online.

Default Slice designs

Do the slice designs have multiple layers. Like if you are cutting a Giraffe it would cut the silhouette and then the details like the spots. or are all of the slice designs silhouettes? It is hard to tell on the computer because all the images are black.

I am also going to post this on the slice thread. Maybe it will get more visibility there.

TIA,
Katie

Depends on whether or not it's an MS+ cartridge. One thing I noticed as I worked with the Slice is that it always cuts the insides first. So take a giraffe image, for example. It would cut all the spots out first, then the outline of the giraffe. So, in the case of an older, non-MS+ cartridge, I would select the cut, and diecut the giraffe in yellow. For the brown spots underneath, I would select the cut again (with brown paper on the glass instead of the yellow) and hold the front end up so the blade does not touch the paper while the machine cuts out the dots, then set it down quickly when it positions itself to cut the outline. It helps to have your cutting speed on low to do this little trick. Then you can layer the yellow piece over the brown piece and the brown will show through.

But if the giraffe was a MS cartridge then you could cut the giraffe first with the spots cut out and then just the shadow. Now I get it!!!

Thanks,
Katie

I'll be picking up my Think Pink card today. It's at the PO. I really want Vintage Findings but I refuse to pay 40.00 with shipping when I can get it for 32.99 for it. Croppinparadise.com will eventually get it in. I'm on notification for it.

Hi Terri, I just ordered Vintage from http://www.ohmycrafts.com/slice-designcards.aspx
and used a 20% off coupon and paid $33.?? including shipping. The code is good through 2/22/10. Enter GOLD20 for 20% off or GOLD75 for free shipping. The 20% worked better for me as I had them ship it standard for $3.50. Anyway, I have ordered from them several times and never had any problems!! Hope that helps

Ladies..I have started to play with the new pink beauty...I have a question...how do you figure out a way to get more than one cut out of a 6 x 6 piece of paper? Mine cuts in the middle....I must be missing something. blessings.

You just move your machine to where it will not cut in the middle. Do you have the 12" mat? It can be done on the 6 X 6 mat, but it's easier with the 12". It just takes practice figuring out where it's going to cut. The screen shows an X where it's going to start cutting, and you look down through the base and guestimate as best you can.

I've been wanting a slice for the longest time and eventually I'll sell enough of my cards to get one. You gals are great on here and I've learned SO much for when I do eventually get my slice. I can't wait. I want it now but I can't /sniff. I can't wait to keep reading this thread and finding out more things!

My daughter (blue slice) and I (pink slice) both had to put in a ticket on Sunday. She was emailed to return her Slice so they can either fix or replace it. Her's just simply wouldn't turn on. Even after having it plugged in, and leaving it plugged in over night.

I was given instructions to try out and see if that will take care of my problem. So far it has, but only tested 3 cuts. Mine was going around as if it was cutting, but the blade was not dropping down and making contact with the paper. They said if the blade was lose it will not drop down. It seemed tight, but I loosened it and re-tightened it up. Hopefully that will take care of mine.

They got back to both of us by Monday, don't even think it was 24 hours. I'll post how it all turns out. I really don't mind so much the inconvenience when they have such good customer support and fast response.

This made me laugh--a 1" camel.

Yeah, some do cut better larger sized than smaller.

Mine, too. Which kinda defeats of the point of it being cordless, BUT, so far, that (working with it plugged in) hasn't been an issue for me.

Thank you for the follow up. I scrap, but really enjoy card making and swapping. I have decided on a slice, March is the the month! Come on March!

If you are a scrapper, you might prefer one of the larger style electronic die cutters because the Slice cuts shapes only to a max of 4".

Many of us Slice fun-addicts (LOL!) are really into card-making more than scrapbooking, so that's one reason why we luuuuurves the Slice. It also takes up the least amount of storage space, and it's super portable.

I was not paid to say that.

I mainly scrap (very little cards). If its a single cut I always go to the Slice first. If its multiple or if it's a must for larger then 4", I'll use the Cricut. I just like the ease with the Slice more.

I love my Slice but I am having a problem. I still have wonky cuts.

I am doing all the right things.

Machine plugged in when cutting. Yes
Home the machine before cutting. Yes
Calibrated the machine. Yes, several times.
WD-40. Yes

Am I missing anything? I don't want to issue a support ticket before checking here first

I am happy. Vintage Findings came today so now my slice collection is complete unless they come out with something else I like, so far not.
