Thanks sempermom! Is there a USB outlet or other unused outlet on the existing Slice that looks like it could be used to hook up to a computer? Or do you suppose it will be a feature that they'll add onto new models?

Okay ladies, I am new here and I currently own a Cricut which I really like. I want a Slice for the size and portability to take with me on crops and visits to friends houses etc.

I have found a Slice Design Bundle Kit for $148.99 which includes MS+ Basic Elements and Seasons design cards, spatula, 3 embossing tips, drawing tips, some 8 x 8 paper and 12 project cards. I'm thinking this is a good deal (free shipping).

I wondering if there's a chance this is one of the older G6 that I could have issues with? I'm thinking not since it comes with MS+ cards.

Thanks sempermom I really am very excited about it! I have a cuttlebug, which I love, but I really wanted something electronic, that was easy to use for the electronically challenged, lol. This seems to be the perfect little gizmo. It is going to be a very LOOOOOOOONG week! I hate waiting!

i dont see a port on the machine, i am thinking they will sell special SD cards that we will be able to download to, and put it the machine and cut out whatever designs we put on it.

This is a great question, Cyndi! I'd like to know the answer, too. How can you tell if you're buying the G6? If I buy one, more than likely I'll be buying the Pink Slice because it's the one offered by the online store that I design for - gotta get some good use out of my very generous designer discount, right? Is the Pink Slice the newer model (non-G6)?

My Jungle card arrived yesterday and it's awesome! I have a lot of other cutters, but I find that I'm using my Slice a lot. There are times (and I'm finding it to be more often than not) that I just don't want to do all the paper piecing involved with the Cricut cuts.

I still use my Cricut and will never sell it, but I definitely believe there's a place for both a Slice and a Cricut in my crafting stash.

I noticed MM will be putting out a repositioning spray adhesive. I use Krylon right now, but will give the MM version a try.

Ohhhhh . . . okay. So do the SD cards that the Slice now uses look like the kind of SD cards you can buy for like cameras and other electronics?

Cyndi, sounds like an excellent deal to me! those pens arent even on the market yet so you would be one of the first to get to use and i wouldnt think it would be a G6, as most of those were early on the market. i had one but i had ordered online so was probably in the stores' stock for awhile. i did have probs, but MM sent me a whole new starter kit free and it purrs like a kitten! they also paid to return the bad one!
MM is very good at helping you

the pink Slice's should not be a G6, they are too new! they have the calibration already built in as well as the new speed boost!
i have not heard of any troubles with the pink ones either

Okay, great! So it sounds like MM might have been thinking a bit ahead of themselves and decided to release it with the idea that they'd add features in the future. Love that kind of thinking!

Sempermom, do you think the Pink Slice would be a G6? I'm worried about having issues right out of the gate if I go forward with buying it.

i would suppose when you are in a store you could ask to see the machine and check the serial # before you buy, just explain that the ones with G6 are having probs and you wanna make sure what you are getting! my michaels have them all locked up and you have to asl for one anyways. we have a right to get a working machine for what we pay right?!

Okay, I thought of another question . . . hopefully someone is still here. LOL

So, can the Slice cut borders, i.e., scallops (bigger, smaller, etc.), zig zag, ric rac, etc.? Since I'm a card maker, I don't need the border to be super long - I understand that there are size limits for the cuts, but are borders offered in any of the existing cartridges?

I think I'll be ordering it. I could not decide between that package deal or the sale price from Joanne's w/free shipping. I don't pay tax for the package deal but I will for Joanne's for the machine only, a difference ultimately of about $35. But, with the package deal, I get the second card and a few other things.

They are like Cricuts, not really a lot of pricing differences between them.

Thx all

i dont thkn there are any borders since it only goes to 4". but i do have the card "STUDIO ESENTIALS", which has some tabs and some labels and frames, maybe you could cut at 4' then cut in half lengthwise and use as a border?

Slice is going Hands-Free. There is a video on Making Memories page on face book. It looks like you will be able to buy the kit for you current Slice.

That's what we have those Martha Stewart punches in our drawers for, LOL. Now come take my 'Fun with the Slice' classes at Lasting Memories and I'll show you lots of fun things you can create with your Slice!

You teach at Lasting Memories?!! Oh My Gosh! I love that store!! But I'm a snowbird - so I won't be back there until the first part of April. Novell, I'll sign up for a class just as soon as I get back. Something fun to look forward to!

And you're right - I have drawers and drawers of border punches, so I guess I'm stuck with those. I adore them, but I hate storing them! LOL

So where's the cheapest price to get the Slice cards? I know you all know - so share, please!!

Yup, I teach Slice classes at Lasting Memories. I love it. We have so much fun in class and I really like getting feedback on different projects to offer. Everyone really seems to like making cards but I try to break that up once in a while. Look forward to seeing you..

As for the deals, seems like folks seem to find them and share them when they come around so just keep your eyes peeled! At LM, when you sign up for one of my classes, you can get the highlighted cartridge for that class for 25% off so keep that in mind when you return.

Hi!

Can anybody lead me to the WD-40 instructions or tutorial?

I did a search and missed. Probably user error. I have the original blue and love her to death but she is having some problems. I home her, keep her plugged in and calibrated her a few times.

Also I do not have the newest cards that add the other functions. Will this improve the blue Slice performance?

Thanks for any help.

Forgive me if this was talked about a few pages back, I only checked the current page.

So....

I'm wondering what kind of cards MM released at CHA for our little babies. I see someone here has the jungle one that was supposed to be released last year (I think it was one of those due for release then not). How about the one called "faith?"

I got a new empty binder over Christmas in anticipation of all the new cards that I thought they'd be releasing about now. Went to MM and WhySlice.com and nothing jumped out at me as new releases.

Are there new ones on the way? What are their themes? Capabilities? Do tell!

Jungle and Faith have already been released. Check your local Slice selling store or online. I know I've seen them at my LSS.

Thanks, Novell. Of all the online stores I regurlarly shop (dozens of them), you'd think I'd have seen those around. Oh well.

I think it's odd they wouldn't feature those new releases on WhySlice (which seems outdated anyway) or MakingMemories.com. I guess I'm just not in the "know" LOL.

Well, they aren't really new releases but they are listed on the www.whyslice.com website under products, then under design cards. I think the 'whyslice' website could sure be a lot better than it is!! They don't update design ideas nearly enough.

Did you guys know there is a gallery on the Making Memories website? If you go to www.makingmemories.com and go to 'Ideas' there is a gallery in there. Even a customer gallery. Lots of great ideas and you can submit your own! I haven't remembered to submit anything in a long time. I should do that.

Default They must have been reading my posts!

Can you believe it?!?!? Not 5 minutes ago, I receved an email from Making Memories to come join them while they reveal their new Slice products LIVE at the CHA! How funny!

If you subscribe to them, check your email; otherwise, go to their blog (or so the email says).

I agree their site is slow to update. You'd think they'd update it more often if they want us to buy the latest and greatest. Thanks for making me not feel alone in that observation, Novell.

I'm pretty excited about that magnetized board, too. It's got such a strong hold!!

For those concerned about the Pink Slice being a G6, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I wish I was able to help with the WD-40 question but I have not had to lubricate my machine myself. MM did that for me when I sent it in.

To Lube the slice you need to flip it over so the blade is pointing at the ceiling. You will see 2 wholes you will put a 1/2 a squirt of wd-40 in each whole and the you can cut.

Wow! I am so glad to read all of the responses on the slice. I just so happened to have a 2 hr delay for work the other day and was strolling thru the channels and saw the infomercial......I ordered the slice immediately hoping not to have "jumped too quickly". By ready your responses, I think I made a good quick decision...haha. Now I reallllly can't wait to get it. And mother's day will be here soon enough, look out kids, mom is making a list! TFS everyone.

Hands Free Slice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine just using a matt not the glass ---> a magnetized matt!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I'm just soooooooo excited over this...

We saw them at CHA, and they are a glass mat, (sorry to disappoint you) with built in magnets that somehow hold the collar/sleeve that fits around the Slice machine. It's magical how strong yet simple and easy it is. I really wonder about trying it without glue to see if the paper moves, since the magnets are so strong. It probably would have an effect on small movements of detail within your design though without the adhesive holding your paper down.
