Default Sizzix Texture Boutique Embosing Machine

Has anyone seen this cute little thing? The price isn't bad, for what it does, and it looks kind of fun to be able emboss without messing around with sandwiches. I don't know if I'd buy it or not, probably would if I got a great deal on it. It's adorable, though, and would be easy to take places!

Has anyone gotten a chance to play with it at a convention or anything?

cardsbynikki.....If you read the description, the machine still takes embossing pads and shim. So it's the same as using any die cutting/embossing machine.....BIGkick, BigShot, Cutlebug, etc.

It does look like a neat machine, but only seems to have one purpose.....emboss. I'd rather stick with my BIGkick which does both embossing and die cutting if I want a manual machine (I mostly use my Expression, though).

Personally, I wouldn't order from Oh My Crafts. I've had bad experiences with them. They also take your money up front for a pre-order and you really have no idea when you can expect your merchandise. Also, they don't tell you when an item is out of stock till they send your merchandise.

I do like the embossing machine, but does seem a bit impractical to me unless the ONLY thing you want to do is emboss.

Just my opinions, I realize others may disagree with me.

I just saw and ad for this machine as well, but thought that it had a very limited purpose/use for what I anticipate the cost will be.

I thought that it looked like a cute little machine when I looked at it the other night. i think that what I read said it would retail for about 30 bucks. To me it seemed kind of pricey for just an embossing machine when I can buy a cuttlebug for just a little bit more than that.

It is pricey for what it does but I think the price would drop quite a bit after awhile or people would be able to use 40% coupons. I probably won't buy it, just because I have a Big Kick and have no need for it, but if I could pick it up for $10 I might get it.

I think it's really cute! I might just buy one when I can't figure out where in the heck I put my BS plates (seeing as I seem to lose them in my craft room often)!

Does anyone know what the maximum size it can accommodate? I can't find any size info anywhere! I have an expression - and for only wanting something to emboss - I'm thinking it might not be a bad option if it will do what I'm wanting.

I just bought one of these for myself and one for my mom. We both own cricuts so really only needed the "embossing"...but I am wondering, do you think you would be able to use nestabilities in the texture boutique? I don't own any or I would try it, lol

I was told at a craft show last week that it's just for use with embossing folders.

I used one at Archiver's last week and the handle seemed much harder to turn than on my Cuttlebug. Just in case that might be an issue for anyone.

I looked at this briefly...limited uses...would rather use a CB or Bigshot.

I thought this would be handy to keep closer to my desk that the Big Kick for embossing but the opening looks like it might limit the usefulness. Hmmm. I'll keep thinking on it.

It fits very nicely on my desk. It's slightly smaller than I expected but you can use all the embossing folders etc from cuttlebug/sizzix with it. Best thing about it is it's adorable, lol. You wouldn't want to put it away it's just so darn cute

I have a question though. I know that you can't cut with the texture boutique, got that part since I own one, but what I want to know is if you can do the embossing part with the nestabilities dies with it. What I mean is cut out your circles with regular punches or die cutting machine and then use it with the nestabilities to create that wonderful indented part on the edge of the circle. I really like that look, but I don't want to buy a cuttle bug or a big shot just to do that. Any body know? can any one try this?

I bought one awhile back, and would like to know the same question. Does it accept the nestabilities for embossing or not? My granddaughter has the CutterKid, and thie Expression Boutque is made almost exactly like it. I was wondering if it is deep enough to accept the size of the nestabilities once it is combined with all the parts needed to go through the opening? Anyone know?

I bit the bullet awhile back and decided to buy some nesties, if nothing else than to try the embossing aspect of it. I did some experimenting and I can get it to cut with a hand made sandwich piece. It embosses just fine with the plates and an added rubber mat though sometimes I add the little plastic piece to get a bit more of an impression. I did a video tutorial if you want to check it out:

I received a Texture Boutique for Xmas, had one folder (Swiss Dots from Cuttlebug) that worked very well as for as making a good impression. I then purchased a Stampin Up embossing folder (Square Lattice). but it leaves a "soft spot" in the middle of the card. Also, the overall impression is not as deep as what we had made at my SU demonstrators with the same folder design and her Big Shot (which I can't afford). (Both the TB and the SU machine are made by Sizzix).

Does my folder have a flaw? Is it a weakness with the TB machine that it doesn't emboss as well in the center? Any suggestions?

Try running a piece of cardstock on top of your folder when you run it through. Each embossing/die cutting machine is different and sometimes you have to add a bit more to the "sandwich" to make it work just right.

I bought this before I bought my Cuttlebug. Loved it, but then I discovered the joys of dies. I swore I wasn't going to get sucked in, but... well, you know how that goes.

My advice? Get the Cuttlebug if you are looking for easy portablility and ability to emboss. You will be able to expand into cutting later. Believe me, it will happen. I don't have a Big Shot, but have used it and it works smoothly as well - just seems a little less easily portable.

When I am home, I will use both machines, depending on what my purpose is. But when I am on the go, I just take the cuttlebug and the right plates.

And yes, it is adorable!
