I just purchased a sizzix pop up insert. Does anyone know how to use it? I have a cuttle bug, can it be used with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I'm double-checking: The inserts are still available but the bases that go with them have been discontinued?
... Is it possible to use the inserts without either of those specific bases?

Karen is no longer designing for Sixxix, so all her designs are discontinued. She's got new Pop It Ups with Elizabeth Crafts: I am not left-handed
You only need one base for the Sizzix inserts. I have a base die so I've never tried to use an insert without it.
Best bet today is Joann.com: Sizzix Pop'n Cuts XL 3-D Die Set With Base Die-A2 Card With Circle Label at Joann.com
This base die is at a terrific price. Also there is a ship discount for 2/14 and 2/15. The code is: BEMINE045. Cost of shipping is $2.14. It is true that Karen on longer works for Sizzix :-x. Terrible decision on their part. But turning out great for her. I recently purchased two sets of her new dies with Elizabeth Designs. I must tell you that I have most of her Sizzix dies and just love the pop n' cuts. But you will need that base die. Karen has a YouTube on how to use an insert with the base die by Tim Holtz. Check it out on YouTube. I tried it and it certainly works. But the the pop n' cuts base die that I linked to, also includes the circle inert. Karen has another base die that makes 5 x 5" cards but does not include an insert.
I love Karen and her genius. I definitely await more of her designs. BTW, her new dies are like the thinlits and come with accessory dies.
Also designed by Karen Burniston and manufactured by Sizzix.
True, but KB has said repeatedly that her Stampin Up dies will be available (through SU) for as long as SU wants to carry them. They are not being discontinued as part of the Sizzix/KB "break up."
KB's blog even has the SU dies & coordinating stamps in one of the sidebars, and there's a notice underneath stating that the dies are available through SU for as long as SU wants to offer them.

Just pointing out that the base from SU is same line.
I used the dies without the base - its a little difficult to get the centering just right but its do-able. I did find the base die at Hobby Lobby so I got one with a coupon. If you sign up for Sizzix' mailing list, they have a special every Tues.
