Default Sizing for embossing folders

Ok, is there a certain tip or trick on how to use an embossing folder when your paper is larger than the folder? I like to make the larger size cards, not big enough for 8x11 folders but just a little bit bigger than the standard folder. Is there anyway to readjust your card/folder to get a continuous emboss. Like if my folder only covers 3/4 of my card. How do I get that last 1/4 done. I can't figure it to save my life. Thanks for the help.

Some patterns have a repeat, and you can line up the extra card in the folder so that it matches the design as already embossed on the rest of the card. There's usually a slight "mashed" effect on the join line and you might need to use an embossing stylus to help it look right. Much easier IMO is not even to try that, but to emboss in two pieces and use a piece of lace, ribbon, or a border die-cut or punch to cover the seam.

That is so clever Cook22 I always just used it as a smaller layer. I cant believe I never thought to do twice and cover join with ribbon. Sometimes we so over think things the most obvious never occur.

Default embossing folder sizing

Thanks so much for the idea on just making it into a seam and using ribbon or whatever to try and conceal the seam.

Speaking of such, is that why some of the folders come with a border folder also, same pattern, just a 1.5" size long folder?

I started embossing with 6 x 6 stencils and it covers the whole of my card because my join lines never lined up
