Red face Silhouette Help PLEASE!

I got a Silhouette Portrait for Christmas and I have not quite figured it out yet. My DD wants a penguin themed birthday party. I have been trying to use a set of penguin birthday clipart images to make some print and cut cupcake toppers. I've watched a few videos showing how to do it, and somehow I can't make it work! Whenever I try to use the offset feature it does not outline the penguin, it makes a rectangle around it! It is extremely annoying.

meeyore I'd recommend posting this into the Silhouette/Cameo chatter sticky thread further up the page. The ladies on there are very knowledgeable and helpful- I'm sure someone can help you figure out whats going wrong. I have one of the older Silhouette originals, so my machine may be a little different, but there are Portrait owners on that thread too.

Good idea! I'm not sure I'm "tech-savvy" enough for this machine, so I really hope someone can walk me through it! LOL

Or you can go to the Silhouette Plus Forum. There are some real experts over there who will be able to answer your question.

If it is just a picture you found online then the problem is probably that it is seeing the whole shape and not just the penguin.

What I would do is use the trace option to trace the outside of the image. Once you trace that you can offset what has been traced.
