Default Shimmer Sheetz

OK, About Once A Month Or So I Buy Myself Something I Really Don't Need Or Even Know Much About. This Past Month I Knew I Was Having A Major Surgery And Would Be Laid Up For Quite Awhile, Actuallly I'm Still Laid Up...

Anywho, This Time It Was Shimmer Sheetz.... Now I Usually Research Things To The Point Where They Don't Interest Me Anymore.. Not These Damdable Shimmer Sheetz. I Ended Up Purchasing Two Different Colors, The White Iris And Somthing Black-Could Be Blue?? Problem?? I Don't Have A Clue On How To Use Them, What To Do With Them, NOTHING.... I Have Seen (I Believe) Every Thing You Tube Has To Offer And I'm Still At A Loss...

My Major MISTAKE Was Not Realizing You Pretty Much NEED One Of Those "Die Cutting" Gizmo Machines.. There Is About 50 Different Names For These Things, I Do Not Have One, I Do Not Want One, For What I Do In My Little Card Making "Hobby" It Would Just Be An Unessary Piece Of Equiptment. I Just Do This For Fun, I'm Some What Newly Disabled And I Really Don't Need To Emboss Paper With One Of Those, I Like Doing It The Hard Way...

Can ANYBODY Hellp Me Figure Out What I Can Use These For? The Colors Are Just Beautiful And All But, I Think I Should Have Either Bought Some H2O's Or Saved My $$$...... I Know You Can Alcohol Ink Them, But That Seems A Waste On The Colors They Already Are..

ANY Help Would Be MOST Gratefully Appricated...

Default Mylar Film

Hi Sue,

I haven't used the Shimmer Sheetz very much but I do use them with Peel Off outline stickers. Another brand of sticker is Starform. Very simple technique; just stick on the outline sticker and cut around it using scissors or a craft knife. I've never thought of embossing them. :-) I'm going to try that!

Here is an example of a card I made using the mylar. The photo doesn't do the card justice. The fish really does shimmer.

Karen Burniston uses them in some of her pop n cuts cards - her work can be found on Sizzix.com or her blog, I am not left handed.

All the uses I can think of involve the stickers, embossing folders, or dies. Perhaps you could buy one embossing folder and use a roller pin on it to emboss on the Shimmer Sheetz. The Elizabeth Designs stickers are well suited to using with Shimmer Sheetz; many of them have designs welcoming fill-in: leaves, large flowers, birds butterflies, etc.

I suppose most stampers would now consider their die cutting/embossing machine an indispensable tool. But it can be a very expensive investment with all the possible dies and embossing folders, and it often takes us further and further from the actual craft of stamping and applying color.

Well, I Do Want To THANK YOU For Your Input... The Rolling Pin Technique, Now That's Simply Genius... I Often Wondered If There Was A Way To Subsutute One Of Those Big, Spendy Machines... Anyway, Thanks To You All, I'll Just Keep Plugging Along Untill Somthing ODD Pops In My Head....
THANKS AGAIN,
