I would love to see what everyone is creating with their new Silhouette Cameo machines! I'll start this thread off by sharing a few cards I've created using the Cameo:
Jackie, your cards are all so pretty! I love the pear card, love the splash of yellow with the black and red. Thanks for starting this thread, I'll have to see if I have anything worth sharing, lol.
Thanks babe 54, I don't think you will be disappointed.
I will try and answer your questions Jorgy:
I am very happy with my machine. I did get one that had a defective blade. Once I received a replacement blade it cut perfectly. I had a Cricut at one time and it was a wonderful machine but I didn't like buying those expensive cartridges. I also notice that the Cameo cuts clean edges and better circles than the Cricut. I loved the idea that I could buy the images I wanted when I wanted online and get them instantly. It seemed more efficient and more economical to me. I also loved the idea that I could design my own cutting files.
I don't think that the Cameo is anymore difficult to learn than the Cricut. It is different though, because you use it with your computer/laptop in the Silhouette Studio Software. For me, it has been easy to learn and use. I love how I can alter the designs and resize them so precisely. I think you can download the free Silhouette Studio Software to see if you like it first.
Is the new Silhoutte Cameo a lot better than the original which I have had for 3 years, mine is still plugging along and I don't want to part with it unless the Cameo is way better, I also have a cricut but use my Silhouette most of the time.

I only owned a Cricut not an Original Silhouette before I purchased the Cameo. Hopefully someone will be able to offer you a comparison of both of the Silhouette machines.

Glad I found this thread! Just got my new Cameo (haven't even taken it out of the box yet!) and was looking for inspirations to start crafting using it.
Do we have a gallery at SCS for Cameo creations?
Jackie your ornament card is fantastic! Now I know what my first purchase from the silhouette store will be
TFS! I love the ideas on here! I just got my Cameo a few weeks ago and have been playing with it but reallly haven't completed anything to post. I do love that I can pretty much have access to any shape I need at anytime. I never got a cricut because I didn't want all of the cartridges and I have a bigshot, but often didn't have the die of what I needed. So this is just awesome!
Thank you Chaitali! I would love to see what you create with your new Cameo. I'm with the other posters, can't wait to see if someone else will post more projects. I'm keeping an eye on this thread.
Oh, yes, I want a Cameo gallery also! I have cut out all these designs and now have not completed anything either! ha!! Except for putting something on the inside of a card! I love the diecuts ---but need help on layouts!
I've never thought of postage holders, you did a great job on yours...great template!
Thanks! This was for a swap I'm in. Swaps have become a breeze since I got the Cameo
Btw has anyone tried cutting vinyl yet? I wanted to make some wall decor and some designs for my phone as well but can't find a good tutorial on how to do that.
There is already an active Silhouette Cameo dedicated forum. They have galleries to share projects, cutting files, technical help, challenges, etc. A nicely done board with a good group of people.
I don't want to poach users from Splitcoast, but if you want a lot of very product specific information and discussion, Silhouette Plus is a good place to hang out. If Splitcoast wants to increase its Cameo offerings, that'd be great, too.
I have a question on the designs. When the design description says "12 x 12 background shell lace edge", does that mean it can't be resized?
I'm anxiously awaiting my Cameo to arrive!
Terry
Hi Terry,
I'm assuming you mean the 12" x 12" background is a file on the Silhouette online store? I'm also guessing that you can resize the images. All of the images that I have purchased can be resized. Hope that helps. The only limit you have is the cutting machine can't cut any larger than 12" x 24". There is a mat that you can purchase that is 12" x 24" the machine comes with a 12" x 12" mat.
Thank you for visiting and the sweet comments. I just now updated the link. I had left a few of the Silhouette Cards off, as I hadn't labeled them on my blog.
Wow Lorrie! Your projects are amazing! I like all your baby projects. And looks like you (or rather Kristina Werner) kicked off an epidemic because I feel like I have to run to the silhouette store and get a wrap envelope too!! Good thing I am away from my Cameo this week
Just thought I would pop in to say I made a card with my Cameo today. It's been a while since I made something with it. I was beginning to feel a little guilty for not using it more. Anyway, here is a link below if anyone wants to take a peek.
