I never thought I would have a sequin question.... but I do! Here it goes... When I watch card-making videos on Youtube, I see the cardmaker squirt out some glue on her card and then simply apply the sequin. It ALWAYS stays in place.
So, my question is this. Do most people place their sequins on a card like a bowl? Or flipped over like a dome?
I've always put them on like a dome with a Bling glue dot. So, a squirt of glue and then the sequin on top would never stick. That's what leads me to think that most people put them on like a bowl.
It's easier to drop them on the card after I lick my finger and stick them on it before I glue the little goober down. I have a love/hate relationship with sequins, especially ones that are transparent/white. When It runs away I can't find it~~!

I also apply them like a bowl. I've found I have better luck with placement if I put them on the card like I want them, and then pick up each one, put a tiny dot of Mono Multi there, and put the sequin back down where it was.

I've a sequin question too. What size or sizes do you prefer on card fronts? I've found flat sequins, but haven't ordered them. Has anyone tried them, if so do you like them? I can't recall the website, I just searched for flat sequins. If memory serves me, a crap shoot, I think some are without the hole. If anyone has a source I'd appreciate the link. Thanks!

Pretty Pink Posh has what they call a confetti mix that's sequins in various sizes without holes. : ) I have others without holes but think that was before I learned to save packaging info. I'll re-look though.
I didnt mean to sound like something is wrong with doming! I was just curious.
Anne-I dont know if you are asking for sources of sequins in general or flat in particular.
I have old flats from my mom. I like them. And no risk of getting crushed. Mine have holes but you can get w/o.
Pretty Pink has wonderful shades and assts.
other known stamp companies:
ellen hustson
taylored expressions
28 lilac lane
I havent researched this yet but for teachers or someone who uses mass quanities of sequins or maybe can share...I would look at trimming houses that sell buttons, fringe etc for fabrics. They might be strung together already and you have to separate them or they could be like a string of beads in which case only work them over a box in case that string breaks. Ask me how I know. (I had found some in a thrift)
I've always been drawn to these sequins and wonder if our pals in the UK like Shaz have ordered from her. She does ship to the U.S. and other countries and the shipping isn't bad, given that sequins weigh about as much as air. : )

I've been thinking about this thread, and had to laugh to myself.
You know that the "real world", i.e. not cardmakers, would totally not understand that a discussion of which side of a sequin should be glued down, could be of such interest.

HAH so true! This is why I love forums! (and ours the most!)

I'm in the states and I have ordered from her successfully...
and I had the first time
thought oh get two packs of the combo's I loved the most. unless you use them on everything ( which I don't) one pack will probably last you a long long time...

I use 6mm slightly cupped ones the most. 4mm is a nice size to mix with it if you want small/large.
Cartwright's is great for sequins-- I suspect they might wholesale to some of the companies that have mixes.
I like the ones from Lucy's Card as well-- Simon Says Stamp carries them in the US, and I'll sometimes add a pack or two to an order, but I think even with the exchange rate, they are cheaper straight from the UK (because the shipping's cheaper). But they are shaker mixes so they have beads in them and itty bitty sequins in them as well.
BJeans-thanks! I like that place-some unusual colors but yes, that's about 5 US to ship a couple ozs....unless you order more.
I had forgotten about Cartwrights!
Ok...tell me this....are these holographic sequins? The flat you cant make out at all...but at 5mm it seems like it? The closeout section is rockin! If people make costumes for the kids...they have POUNDS of glitter on sale. And it will be 75% off.

I had good luck with Lucy's sequins. I went in with a friend and we bought dozens of mixes and shared them. The quality is good,no broken stuck together ones, and the mixes were very attractive. I like to use different sizes of the same sequin on cards and she has these mixes also. Pretty Pink Posh is another brand I like. I also buy Simon Says Stamp's brand.

So good to know, thank you!
Ditto on sizes - often three sequins, 1 large, 2 small, or if five (rare), 3 small or large, 2 large or small. : ) (I treat sequins, enamel dots and Nuvo jewel drops basically the same way.)
It depends on the look I am going for - but I usually do bowl, but I have also done dome! I've also given up on glue because some of my sequins started coming off on cards I hadn't sent out for a couple of months - back to glue dots!

Bowl, but I never thought about dome. That could work.
Sometimes Lucy's has a sale. I think 20% off and that's when we bought ours. If you go in with someone make sure you decide the other person is the one to divide them. Those things have static cling and are kind of a pain to get into containers. Using the powder tool was the only solution I could come up with and it was still pretty hard. I bought some the other day that didn't have static cling, might have been Pretty Pink Posh. Sooo much easier.
Any thoughts on brands you have used that don't have static cling?

Good question...............Tho very limited colors I found the ones from Dollar Tree have'nt had static for me yet. I say yet because just as yoou say they don't cling the next bag you buy will heehee.
I've tried two things with some success when transferring sequins from their packaging into the divided box they're kept in: rubbing my hands with a dryer sheet, dumping the sequins onto the sheet and folding up the sheet to cover them/smoosh them for a moment. I've also barely wet my hands with water.
(I rub cutting machine plates with a dryer sheet if cutting dies with lots of little pieces that enjoy dancing around on the plate.)
I just KNEW I'd find the answer to my question about sequins HERE, and I was right! Also, didn't know there are different sizes and types. Who knew? Everyone here, except me! Thank you all for enlightening this card maker new to sequins.
