Wondering if anyone else is having problems:mad: with getting the largest die to cut through without having to run the die through the Big Shot several times with shims.Spellbinders has replaced this die and I'm still having problems getting it to cut. Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.:(
I have recently aquired these dies and had not played with them yet. After seeing your post I immediately pulled them out and sure enough mine doesn't cut without problems. The long sides cut fine but the corners and short ends are a PITA. So, I don't have any suggestions but wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
Mine too, I might have to find one of those metal shims. I'm thinking I'm going to bug DH for a piece of aluminum flashing and try that out before I go buy one.
I do find that with the intricate dies I sometimes need to run them through and back through again to get a clean cut. I think that may be the nature of some of these intricate dies. I do know that the pressure on all of the machines are a bit different, so I would also second the suggestion to use a thin shim -I mostly use another piece of cardstock (the stacking would be: base plate, cardstock shim, die face up, cardstock to cut and top with cutting plate).
Another tip when using the intricate dies is to run them through with a piece of wax paper. You would put the wax paper between the cardstock and the die. This can help with removing the tiny pieces.
If all else fails, you can always call the customer service number at 1-888-547-0400. They might even help you on the phone while you are at your machine.

Along with Michelle's suggestions, sometimes turning the die a quarter turn will help.
Another thing to remember when you shim a die...you should only put the shim under the area of the die that isn't cutting properly. If you shim the entire die you are defeating the purpose of the shim. In shimming, you are looking to raise up the portion that is not cutting, not the entire die.
With consumers demanding more intricate and detailed dies, this will continue to be an issue. If this is the type of die that you like to use, doing extra steps is the price you are going to have to pay. It all depends on how much time you are willing to spend to get the results you want.

I just called Customer Service regarding the delema in getting the Romantic Rectangles to fully cut. They told me to run the die through long ways and then again sideways. It worked!! You cannot do this on your Cuddle Bug, but I have the Vegabond and it will go through sideways. I just love this die and was so happy to find out a way to make it cut.

Amazingly enough, I just watched them last night : ) I did want to mention though how much I appreciated getting the 800 ( or 888 ) number (from sf9erfan - Cathy) to call for instructions on the Spellbinder die, how quickly I was spoken to and how nice and helpful they were. In this day and age of "communication", it was awesome. I also told them that! Thanks again for all your help!
There is a YouTube video by Memory Box about this very issue. He talks about the need for "selective shimming" on intricate dies, and I think anyone would agree that Memory Box dies are intricate!
His solution is so simple and clever. He builds up layers of regular tape! Like Scotch Magic Tape, the thin tape that looks a little frosted? The one in your middle desk drawer, lol!
He gradually builds up layers of tape on the back (non cutting side) of the die, cutting between each layer until he gets a perfect cut in one pass. The the tape stays on the die until it falls off and you need to redo it.

Hello Stampers! I have been all over the web trying to find a video on re-sizing Romantic Rectangles into a square, using the largest die-cut. Alas....no answers and this card is stuck in my head! Lol! Any suggestions?
