HELP...I've been trying to start using my Copic Markers and the ink just feathers on my white paper. I've used SU, GP and TAC. I know I saw somewhere on here a chart that showed the variations on what paper was used and the results. Does anyone know where that post is? I have made several cards and they are feathering everywhere. HELP before I ditch my markers.
Thanks everyone for your help and advice on a really rough Wednesday. HAPPY HALLOWEEN.
Hey Dana, yes, you definitely need the right paper to get good results. I have found good results with:
Papertrey white cs
Georgia Pacific (Walmart) cs
Neenah white cs
The trick is to have a cardstock that will allow the colors to sit on top a little longer before seeping into the paper. SU is very absorbent paper so copics do not work well with this cs.
I get the white 110 lb. at Staples, not sure if it is there brand or not, but I think it is the only one they have. I never have problems with my Copics and this paper. I am sure that there are some papers that DON'T work with the Copics, but I think part of it may just be the Copics themselves. I LOVE them but the ink does flow very freely...it is very easy for it to get away from you, if you know what I mean. HTH!
I think this is what you might be looking for. Not only is the paper important with Copics, but so is the black ink you use to stamp your image. This is a great resource!! Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Copics are a fussy technique, but the results are great and if you really want to throw out your Copic markers, there are lots of us who would be happy to catch them!
I took a class at a local stamp store, and we stamped an image with adirondak ink on clay coat paper. copic makes an alcohol marker pad. I found it at hobby lobby in the art section and also at dick blick. (dickblick.com/zz106/32/) hth. only my second post so I cannot send full URL, just add the 3Ws up front and you're good to go. ;)
