repairing a cracked die cut plate?

So my trusty Cuttlebug has a cracked B plate. I have a second one that I'm using now, so that's good, but has anyone been able to repair a cracked plate or do I have to say good by to this old friend? (I live somewhere between frugal and cheapskate, don't I? lol!)

I'm with you, Jeanie. Frugal to the max! I haven't done this, but I saw a post where a gal used silver duct tape to put her plate back together again. It's sure worth a try, and I'll bet it would work. Even if it was a little "wonky", when you put it down flat on the bug platform, it would be okay.

Just keep using the plate til it breaks completely. Even then, you can still use the pieces for cutting smaller dies or using smaller embossing folders.

I covered the crack with a piece of packing tape....it is still working!

Many thanks for weighing in ladies. I'll give the packing tape a try. The crack is about 2/3 of the way across and about exactly half way from top to bottom. It leaves a mark in my whatever-I'm-die-cutting but maybe the packing tape will stop that too.

Too bad there isn't some sort of bonding adhesive ... hmmmmmm. ;)

There is Hubby bought me some last Christmas amongst all the crafting stuff he got me. May do the trick, but to be honest, it would probably be just as cheap to buy new plates- 'B' plates come in a twin pack. I don't know how the bond would stand up to the pressure.

I agree that buying new plates would probably be cheaper (and easier). I checked around a little for acrylic adhesive and it's not cheap.
