I have heaps of acetate packaging from Cuttlebug embossing folders etc., I'm just wondering if it's OK to use this for stamping on and for other techniques that require an acetate base:confused: ?
Just seems like a waste to throw it out! Does anyone re-use their packaging?
I reuse those little clear bags/envelope things that those Studio G $1 stamps come in for small die cuts and other small punched out shapes especially if I'm mailing them out to friend.
I have used some of the paper packaging on a few items on cards too. One was a nice scalloped edge (this was before I finally got the SU punch) that I simply flipped over to the bare side and adhered to a card front.
Yes I have used it as my acetate I just seem to have a problem throwing good stuf out I have a big tote of card stock too someday I plan to punch out small flowers.
I cut out sections into squares to use as imaging sheets with a stamp positioner. The backings of cuttlebug folders' packaging are glossy and I use them to stick stamps to (my stamps have tack it over and over on the rubber). I hate throwing anything away if it will save me money.
I "mount" my unmounteds with it. The bare rubber gets stamped on paper, the paper gets Xyroned with the adhesive on the top, the rubber gets attached to cushion and trimmed, the adhesived paper image gets attached to the clear acetate, and, finally, the rubber with cushion gets attached to the paper image and acetate with a trimmed 1/2" border edge of acetate to grip. Complex, I know, but it gives me all the advantages of wood mounted with the storage advantage of unmounteds.
I have to save and use the good acrylic packaging, too! I have several in a drawer and my ds asked me about them the other day - I said I was saving them to use with my pillow box BS Die. lol - I got a 'you are very strange' look, but no comment.
Today I cut out the side panel of an empty milk jug (rinsed/dried) and ran it through the Big Shot with my Snowflake die - loved it!! It made me so happy to see that gorgeous opaqute snowflake that I went to my photo box looking for snow pics to scrap. I did test it with my PH Pen and hurray! it tested safe for scrapbooking.
So then I cut open my empty (rinsed/dried) pepsi bottle and did the same thing with it. It also tested scrapbooking safe and it made the prettiest clear snowflake! I can't wait to cut more large shapes and especially letters (and drink MORE Diet Pepsi - lol!) to use on cards and pages.

I love what you did with the snowflake! IT's cool to look at things like milk jugs and diet pepsi bottles in a whole new way.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saves packaging for stuff. It does cause some clutter, but I get silly and happy when I use it!

I have used the Nesties clear packaging in the Cuttlebug embossing folders with fairly good results. You can then add appropriate finishes such as Stickles, glitter, alcohol inks, etc for color in the designs.
Thanks so much for all your replies and great ideas ladies! I have used a piece that I put through a cuttlebug snowflakes folder, but I hadn't thought of using it as a die-cut before.......Mary, I love your snowflakes and will have to try this one for sure.
I run the packaging from the Cuttlebut folders right through the cuttlebug with an embossing folder...they look lovely and are so cheap for a nice touch..lol
Blessings.
i use the clear stuff for shaker cards too....the inserts in the nesties are good for a shim with the tan pad for embossing the nesties.....
sometimes i have to clear out the saved junk, but invariably, it is just what i need after i toss it ! now i am saving lids from yogurt and inner tops of nuts cans ! they work great with the embossing folders too.
we dont have little ones at home and dont drink that much milk...wish i had a large jug now to do some snowflakes....arrggghhh.
