Recollections 12 days left!
I have been frequenting the Frisco, Texas Recollections store a couple of times a week since before Christmas. I am absolutely amazed at how many people are in that store every time I'm there. Even yesterday, there were more than 50 shoppers in the store, all filling their baskets with goodies. The store is 90% empty? The discounts are still only 40% on some things...and finally 50% on others. There were a couple of items at 60%...but only a couple. Of course, some of the products can't be purchased at Michael's or Joann's...but even the ones that could be purchased with a 40% off coupon, are still flying off the shelves at Recollections...for only 40% off (and they were still being bought when they were only 30% off).
I am absolutely amazed while watching this process. We are going to miss our Recollections dearly.
One item I've been watching, is their Tim Holtz stamps. The price on the stamps is $24.99....so they are finally 12.50....but of course their selection is very limited. Sadly at 50% off, that's finally a decent price. The same sets can be purchased for $15-19.99 online, with no sales tax, and no shipping.
It's almost a shopping frenzy...with everyone thinking "they've got to get some"...and their closing their doors...so "everything must be a steal"....
The sign said 12 more days. How sad. We will surely miss Recollections.

I was at ours a couple of weeks ago and there wasn't anything spectacular left. I managed to grab a few things at 30% off. Other than that i don't plan to go back. I will miss all of the variety there that you just can't find anywhere else here:(

Since you frequent the store...Don't forget to ask to get on the mailing list for the new store that will be opening up!!
One of the women who works there is opening up her own store. Can't remember the name of it, but it will be open in a couple months.

I totally agree that it is so sad that Recollections is closing. I went to the Frisco store this weekend and it is depressing. Maybe we will get an Archiver's in the Frisco/Plano area now that they don't have to compete with a Michaels-owned chain. If we all email them and ask for one, who knows? That store is the best!!...even better than Recollections, IMHO. There's only one in Texas and it is in in San Antonio.
The employee is opening a new store called Scrappywood. Stop by and put your name on the email list. I have no idea when she will be opening, but it won't be soon enough, will it?

I think there is an Archivers in Katy and a new one in Austin. I haven't heard of one in San Antonio, but I never get to go scrap/stamp shopping there even tho it is a mecca for those kinds of shops.

Hey! I went to High School in Katy! We never had cool scrapbook stores back then (well, okay, so it was a loooonnnngggg time ago).
Anyway, one note about Recollections. Our store here in Sterling, VA is closing too and one of things they're selling is their fixtures (at really good prices). Those big paper racks were about $25 each. I bought 2 of the smaller acrylic ones that were "crack and dent" for $7 each. Taped them up with clear tape and they look great in my scrap room and finally give me access to my 12x12 dp. Anyway, if you're in the market for storage, don't forget to check for that at the closing stores.....
