I downloaded a blank chart for my pencils that has 135 pencils on it... I have all of those plus I have

Deco Pink
Deco Peach
Deco Aqua
Deco Blue

Neon Orange
Neon Pink
Neon Yellow
Neon Green

Metallic Rose
Metallic Purple
Metallic Tile Blue
Metallic Marron
Metallic Violet
Metallic Copper

And I've got a few Colorless Blenders. I also noticed I have a pencil here that is the colour STEEL. It's pencil PC 1041.
I'm so glad this topic came up because you know.. I just HAVE to have any new colours out I mean... it's only right I have them. I'm a dedicated devotee

I often use my pencils to give colour to my flowers.. I've got a set of 24 Verithin Prismas with a great for doing very fine lines.. Well this is my contribution tot he cause. I shall take a photo later of they way I used to store them (that I promised) and the new way. hugs... Angie

I see that I am not the only one with retired colors! I also have the decos, metalics and neons. Thanks for your chart Dina. I had no idea where to put those in the chart I had.

I seem to have all the colours but one, which is Sap Green Light. Does anyone know if maybe this is not available anymore? I guess I don't really need it, it just bugs me I haven't got the full set! LOL.

Thanks for that. I was sent a link to one on USA Ebay. They were asking $7.83 for the pencil and $20.77 Postage! $26.80 USD for one pencil, I am not that desperate for it! LOL.

Oh glory! That's ridiculous. I looked to see if I have an extra one in my stash but I don't... I'll tuck one in my Blick cart and next time I order I'll send it.

What do you use to "shade" the background of an image you just colored in prismacolor and gamsol? Everything I've tried just doesn't do what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help!

I use Prismas because I can't afford Copics, but I do own 5 Copics. I have a light yellow, the 2 lightest blues and the 2 lightest grays that I use to highlight the backgrounds around the images I color in order to give them some depth and keep them from looking like they are "floating" in air.

Thanks Skippet. I don't own any copies, but I think I will try masking the image then inking over/around it. We'll see how it works.

I use coloured chalks a lot for backgrounds. Close to the image I use a cotton bud and then a cotton wool ball for larger areas. Chalks are inexpensive and work well for this. It can also be erased if you need.

Great idea, Jan!

I use my light blue or the blue slate.....even the the metallic blue lightly for my shading behind the image first. Then I don't accidentally pull in colors from the image. Will have to post an example when I'm on the computer.

Suzy and Jan, chalk does sound like it would work great for backgrounds. I recently gave my chalk away before a cross-country move so I don't have any right now. May have to replace it.

To "shade" my backgrounds I first mask the image with a post it note and then use my Distress Ink Pad (Tumbled Glass) and a stencil brush and swirl a hint of color around the image.

What kind of stencil brush do you use? I've seen a lot lately about a particular kind that I'd like to check on. I've never tried this. Love new techniques!

The ones I use came from WalMart a while back. I'm not sure the brand but they were 10 in a pack , came in assorted sizes , cost about 6 dollars and I found them in the craft department where they sell watercolor brushes. I think some people call them stipple brushes.

This picture has some of the shading that I was talking about.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone tried Neenah Exact 110lb index for coloring with colored pencils? I am thinking that it would be heavy enough for a colored card front.

Thanks

These two books have helped me out so much with coloring with Prismacolor pencils:

http://www.amazon.com/The-Colored-Pencil-Concepts-Handling/dp/0823007499"]The Colored Pencil by Bet Borgeson[/URL]

Masterful Color by Arlene Steinberg

A couple of years ago, I took a coloring class by Terry Medaris at a stamp store in Lacey WA called Art & Soul. His class was fantastic! Not only did he teach us about how to lay down color, he also taught us that we could color on so many different items such as unfinished tile and dominos.

As though that isn't enough, there is also a colored pencil society in the US and another one in Canada. Copics may be nice but Prismacolors ROCK!!! (And far more affordable I might add.)

Can't have too many! I'm with Dina!

That's why I "have to have" all colors of whatever coloring mediums I have. Like I just bought all the new Chameleon marker colors.

I believe it will take a very long time before there are 132 Distress ink colors available. I have the 48 original Distress inks but none of the more recent colors, of which I have no idea how many of those are available. As a best guess, there would have to be approximately 80 more colors available...

Default Copic conversion chart to Prismacolour Pencils

Wow it's been a long time since I have been on here!
I have a bunch of tutorials that have the Copic marker colours listed, but my preferred medium is still my prisma premier pencils. Does anyone have a conversion chart showing the equivalent pencil colour to copic marker colour? I don't care if the colour is shown, I'm more interested in the recommended/suggested equivalent. I don't have that many Copics so i can't create my own list where the colours would be accurate. I'll post this in a Copic thread also. tia

I've searched the net for two days with no luck finding a conversion chart of the pencils to markers. I'll start a chart with my items. I'm only missing a few copic markers and I have most of the prisma pencils but I think someone will be able to fill in what I don't have. I'll post it as soon as I have completed it for anyone to use.

If anyone is looking for a larger set Amazon has the 132 count for $58. I wish the Polychoromos would drop in price

The 132 count Prismas are only $53.88 (plus free ship) on Amazon right now. You cannot beat that deal! Wowee! I currently only have a paltry 24 set , but these 132 are going straight into the cart.

I think Dick puts the "list price" as the "list price" of single pencils times the number of pencils. I've never seen them sell for anything near the $275 for the set...or for $2.10 per pencil.

Makes you think you're getting a great deal, though!

Diane, so agree with you! I think DickBlick does this to make one think it's a great deal, plus prevents use of his coupons!

Actually, my favorite art supplies store shares the "list price" of $2.10 as well. It's likely that Prismacolor sets that price as the maximum price that the pencils can be sold for. But it still makes for a good selling point! I've never paid over $1.29 for single pencils.

I am going to read this whole thread but for now I am going to ask my question. I just got the 152 set for Christmas and am coloring some pigs. What would be your favorite color combination for them? Also is there a good prismacolor pencil combination sheet for site that is your go to for combinations?

I looked on Pinterest and found this link for you, hope it helps. There is a link below the combinations for the cool colors and neutrals. I seem to use more oil based pencils, so can't say I've tried them.
