What brand / # blending stumps does everyone use ?
I have been using the ones I grab at either Michaels or AC Moore, but they are starting to seem a tad "flimsy" ... any suggestions ?
If you live near a Hobby Lobby, you might try: an assorted package of Blending Stumps and Tortillons. Also Hobby Lobby has a brand called Fantastix by Tsukineko.

I got mine from Gina K and some from an art store in Indianapolis -my SIL is an artist and she takes me places when I go home to visit. I don't know what kind those were, but the ones from Gina K. are great too!
I had to dig back in the thread to remember what I have at home...! The made-in-Taiwan stumps are softer. The ends of mine are frayed, though, for lack of a better word, but they are older too. The ones from China are hard. I prefer the ones that say Creative Mark - not sure where they are manufactured.
I agree about Fantastics not being for colored pencils. Then are for blending inks.
I use theseand have never had an issue with them. I use them for everything..pencil work..colored pencil..pastels..I buy one of the large assorted packs and then usually a couple of smaller individual sized packs maybe once or twice a year ( depends on how much work I do LOL). They last a really long time if you "clean" them off well . They seem to be relatively inexpensive at Blicks as compared to the the price at some other places..
I personally think paper and pencil choices are probably more important than the stumps you use. Paper choice and pencil quality can make or break you...just trust me on that LOL
I use the ones in the assorted packs that Michaels sells. (Artist Loft maybe). They've worked well for me and so cheap that if they fray I can just buy another pack but I haven't run into that problem. I love the assorted packs for those itsy bitsy skinny ones for getting into the fine details. I saw a great tip by the artist Lee Hammond. If they start to lose their tips push them back out to a point by inserting a folded out paper clip into the center. You all may already know that but it was a game changer for me
Aaropn Bros use to sell individual Prisma color pencil but not any longer. Can anyone tell me if they know who does? There are a few that I use a lot of and don't want to buy sets. Thank you.

Here's one of my first attempts at coloring with prismas -- From the Garden by MaryCrafter. I have done a couple of other cards colored in "crayon" style but never blending, etc. I'm really excited how it came out and I can't wait to try other images.

Wow, this is an interesting thread. I have not dusted off my prismas for awhile...and it's about time I get some inspirations. Just colored these with prismas but I have not decided what to do with them. That seems to be the case whenever I color an image, I am not sure and they sit collecting....
I'm glad I'm not the only one with a pile of stuff waiting for a home on a card. Actually, I have several piles.
I have a pile of stuff for the trash can! LOL...I have a new set of prismas and some promarkers and cannot color worth beans! I just don't get the light areas on hair...it eludes me
Thank you, Mary. Your coloring is awesome! Very good for first time with Prismas. I love it! You did an awesome job! Hope you post more pics of your coloring.
Terry, the way that I see lights on hair or on anything... is to first put down the light color to where you think the light falls on ( i.e anything the protrudes) then next go to the area where you think light doesn't hit and put down the darker color there...and the medium colors fall in between those two. I just get too lazy to color when it comes to pleats on dresses (too much work).... That is where I love copics. It gives great coverage in a short period of time. When I use Prismas it takes me so long to color...I can whizzy by using copics. But I love both equally.
Ladies, great coloring! Mary, that flower is gorgeous. So vibrant!
ckv I agree, your shading and highlights are just brilliant. And I think those girls would make fantastic cards. I know any one of them would certainly brighten my day.

CVK those three little girls are great. I know what you mean with time using Prismas or Copics, but as I don't have a lot of Copics I often combine the 2 mediums. Hair and skin with Prismas and clothes etc with Copics.
I am home and my pencils are all tucked away in rainbow order, waiting for some calm and space on my desk... it feels good to be setting up my studio again.
I am currently in a hotel because my original house is empty and my stuff won't be delivered to the new house (across the country) until the 29th. We leave Tuesday morning to make the five day drive ourselves. We are taking it kind of slow because I am super pregnant and have some back issues.
So no crafting for me! Even though our car is full and space is at a premium I have my set of Prismas with us. I just didn't trust the movers not to break them . I didn't bring baby oil or blending stubs (I should have at least brought blenders!!!) but I am tempted to steal a coloring book from my kiddo and see if I can do anything with layering colors and using the blender pencil. I am desperate!
