I love you Cerridwen!

Ohhhh you know what I hate? When vendors put their sticky ISBN numbers on the pencils. I know they have to keep track of their inventory, but as soon as I get them I HAVE TO TAKE THOSE UGLY STICKERS OFF my pencils so they can be pretty again.

yeah..IDK what they were thinking in not actualy printing the names. At first like Magnolia..I thought it was my eyes ( and I have worn glasses since I was 3 so that wasn't a stretch for me LOL)..then I thought I had spilled my OMS on them and "washed" off the writing..but then I finally figured out that was not the case when I got the other new ones out of the drawer and they hadn't been near the OMS..lol... Why did they do that? We should start complaining. I am pretty sure it would not do one bit of good except to make us feel empowered some how LOL

I looks almost as if they are debossed..and just barely readable..kind of aggravating for sure..

I had to scrap the fairy I worked on for months ( don't ask..still a bit ticked LOL)..so today I am going to start all over on her..or maybe a different one..LOL..not feeling crafty right now..just kind of want to do a bit of drawing ...

It's raining cats and dogs and chickens and frogs here. Thunder and lightning!! So, I've been computering. I ran across this blog of Copic creations. I kept thinking how great some of the images she used would be for Prismas too. Hop Art Studio: copic creations challenge

Some of the images she used were digis and Inkin One, there are lots of fairys too

Two the sites she mentioned:

I bought one at the Sally Beauty store recently. Ask for the pump nail polish remover containers and they will point you in the right direction. I think I paid $7 or $8 for it, it's HUGE though and plastic but a lot cheaper than the glass ones. Amazon has them for about $19 last I looked.

ALSO, if you are over 50 they sell you their discount card for $5 instead of $10 but you have to tell them and ask. Then you save 10% on all purchases for a year. Since I buy hair dye and some generic things there it's worth it for me. Just thought I'd mention it cause I didn't know. Some checkout gal told me, her mother was old enough and she said she thought people would want to know. $5 was worth if for me, $10 no.

SC Magnolia..I have always loved Aselea Hopkins..and was so sad when she left stamping and paper crafting. She was one talented illustrator and stamper for sure.

I wonder if the glass containers are better for OMS than the plastic? Can anyone weigh in on this? I guess they are pretty much the same since a great deal of OMS is originally in plastic huh?LOL Is the plastic stable..meaning it wont tip over easily when the liquid gets low in it?

My plastic one from Sally's evaporates and sprays quite a bit when you pump. Make sure to keep it away from your paper. There is nothing like ruining your coloring.

I've never had a problem wih the one I got from e-bay. It's plastic and it's sturdy with the weight of the OMS. I also keep it inside a 3x3 sqare (4" high) wire mesh pencil holder that I got at the Dollar Tree a while back, just for a little more safety. (See my previous post #2800)

I have the OMS I keep on my desk in one of these.

Menda 35508 Bottle With Pure-Touch Pump Bottle 6 Oz - White - GreaterMedical.com

I love that it only lets out a little at a time and I can flip the lid down when I'm not using it, but it is not portable. If I had it to do over I would probably get a glass one, or now I have found some with locking lids. Mine is plastic and if you squeeze the sides liquid comes out the top, so not good for travel. I have a small jar with a foam insert in the lid that doesn't leak or spill in my bag that I take when traveling.

An alcohol-based marker blender works well for traveling....

You can actually use rubbing alcohol to blend colored pencils, but I can't stand the fumes. Just make sure you're using an alcohol marker blender, not a regular blender pen.

I have the Prisma alcohol blender marker, but I don't use it. I just don't like it as well as the colorless blender of a stump.

My Gamsol, stumps, and sandpaper pad came today from Amazon. I love it. I think these stumps perform a bit better than the ones I got from Michaels. The Gamsol came in a plastic bottle with that spongy thing on the top, so you can just dip your stump over it. It does not tip over, nor do I notice the fumes.

The kit is from Inky Antics and I also like the the sandpaper pad better than an emery board which is what I have been using. I'm very happy with the kit. That glass bottle is expensive! yikes

I too have the little kit from Inky Antics. I like the bottle of OMS with the little felt or whatever it is on the top. It also has a lid that screws on for when you aren't using it. I am just wondering if I will have any trouble refilling it. I'll find out soon because it's getting real low.

Can anyone tell me about what pencils to use for skin colors. Maybe the actual name or # on the pencils?

I have been coloring away with my new pencils. Not very good at it. Its so different than Copics.

For Caucasian skin: light peach 927, and use blush pink 928 for cheeks

the colors i use for dark brown hair are Dark Umber, Dark Brown, Chocolate, Peach Beige. as for the shading the two samples on the order page for that stamp are a good place to start!

I looked through the whole floorplan yesterday and didn't see anything Prismacolor/Sanford at all. Lots of other companies though! So excited! Marti, come find me and we'll take a picture to share here!!

I did get my hair trimmed, but I seriously am soooooo low maintenance... no purple polish for me! LOL

I really like the highlights you put in the hair and jeans on the one on the right. I love the touch of eye shadow you put on both of them too. I wouldn't have thought of that, how fun! Do you like the look of layered colors? If so, that might be a nice look on the tee shirts. A purple and blend with a color next to it on the color wheel say a red purple or a pink.

Thank you SC. I thought about layering colors, but wasn't sure how to achieve that look. Mind you, I'm not using Prismas. I bought the Koh-I-Noor Woodless Colour Pencils. I think I will have to rethink the Prismas. I think the assortment of colors is a definite plus for the Prismas.

Thank you Jan. I'd like to learn more about coloring with colored pencils as I don't think I'll venture into Copics. They are a bit too rich for my pocket! Lol There is a LSS here in San Antonio that offers classes for beginners, but I think they are geared more towards Prismas. Seems like I'll be investing in Prismas soon!

I've never used Koh-I-Noor pencils before, are they very waxy?

I have a set of Koh-I-Noor's, and to be honest, I haven't used them recently, but for an inexpensive set of pencils they aren't bad. If you are interested in pencils but don't want to spring for a big set of Prisma Premiers, they're worth the investment. They aren't as waxy as Prismas, but if you lay down enough color and use OMS, they do pretty well for the price

Yes, they are waxy, but not as much as the Prismas. Not only that, but they are limited in colors. My mission is to find a great deal on a 72 count tin of Prismas! I already have five Prismas in Light Peach, Peach, Blush Pink, Scarlet Lake, and Crimson Red.

Amazon beats Dick Blick or Jerry's on sets of Prismas
