Some of these had been in the Lightfast line and others (deco/neon) were retired and brought back. Wish they'd bring out some lighter browns and more pinks instead! I'm happy to see the Deco Pink, but I really liked the Deco Blue and Orange, too.

Some where discontinued and have been brought back.
Cool! I have the deco colors. I was able to buy them at my Community Collge bookstore a while back when they were clearancing discontinued colors. The other colors are new to me.

In agree. The selection of of pinks isn't very big.
I have the Deco Yellow (bought years ago) and have been using it very sparingly since there was no way to replace it. I was really happy to see that I'll be able to use it now. They don't have many pinks listed in the new colors, but perhaps it's because of the blendability of reds and fushcias and whites to get the softer pinks... I dunno - just a guess.
Anyway, now I need to expand my wish list at Dick Blick to get all the Prismas on there! LOL

I picked up a Gemini Masterpiece brand.....will I regret that I didn't get Gamsol?
I use the Mona Lisa brand because that is what I can get at Mike's using a coupon. As long as what you got is an artist grade of OMS you should be fine.
I am a Copic person but a few months ago my LSS had a class on colored pencils and oms. I took the class and am totally hooked. I only have Crayola colored pencils. Well I ordered the new 150 set of Prismas and I can't wait to get them. They are part of my Christmas present from my husband so I can't have them until then but that's ok. I'm going to pick up an electric sharpener so I can be ready to play. I'll still use my Copics too. Dina your coloring is what got me interested in the pencils in the first place.
Marcos Paper used to sell - proabably still does - the perfect little hand-held brass pencil sharpener - Bruynzeel is the brand. Comes in its own little case with extra blades. It's what I've used for years to sharpen my Prismas.

I would love to buy a ream and split it with someone.
I wanted to ask what kind of eraser is best to use? A soft one? Also I read on the Dick Blick web site to use an electric sharpener and a small sharpener, hand held. What do you ladies use?

You are going to get a variety of answers to this, as there are so many options.
Sharpeners: I use an electric pencil sharpener and a German hand-held model Alivn.
Erasers: I use an electric eraser, an artgum and a Moo.
I use the Prismacolor sharpener only. Don't happily. But was told somewhere not to use an electric one. I use a white soft artgum eraser. I would love to say I never have to use an eraser, but with having a dull point, I need one!
I have the Prisma sharpener too, and it just doesn't work as well for me.
Ohh you know what though? This talk of sharpening made me remember to occasionally sharpen a graphite pencil in the electric sharpener. The graphite helps keep the colored pencils from 'catching' on the blade. I was having trouble with mine catching last night and could not figure out what was wrong. This morning I sharpened two graphite pencils and then it sharpened my Prismas just fine.
Baby wipes for blending....very interesting. I've never tried it.
Well, I tried the baby wipes. It did smooth everything out, but it also kind of lightened and erased a bit. I'm not sure I like it, but then I'm not sure if I'm doing it right either
I wonder if SillyFilly got her set of pencils yet? I'm anxious to hear how she likes them.
I just figured out you were Instead of Ironing!! You and I follow each other's Blogs
I really enjoyed the pictures from your holiday
Ohh, isn't that funny having a convo here and not realising who we both were! Glad you enjoyed my holiday pics - wish I was still there sitting around colouring images like mad with no housework!! Yes, I take my pencils on holidays - all of them! I can't bear to be without them! I hope your new knee is getting better every day. I haven't been able to leave comments on your blog Most times when I try and leave comments on a blog when the comments form is an embedded one ie: doesn't open in a separate window, I get an error message saying I don't have permission. It is a Blogger problem which I hope will be sorted soon! It is driving me crazy!!
Have any of you seen the wooden storage box only? I have most of the colors, so I don't need to buy the set that comes in that nice wooden box, but I would just the box (if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg!).

Remember when you emailed me a while back about the comments thingy? Well, I monkeyed around with the settings and I think I fixed it. I've been getting comments anyway. I had to use a piece of html code because I have a custom background that is not one of the the default choices on Blogger. I had to Google all over the place to find out what to do, and then to get the code. I can't believe I actually fixed it!
I'm so glad I learned about using Baby Oil from Dini. I just love using it for blending!! I just made this one last night. My husband couldn't believe I did it with pencils because it looked so sooth.

hi everyone - i haven't been on in awhile - seems i have way too much going on all the time! anyway i wanted to stop in and share two images i have been working on with you - i didn't do any coloring at all for awhile ACK! these images reminded me how much i miss it! the snowball girl is on a layout i will be posting later this week and the angel is for a card i hope to get put together tomorrow - both are for videos i did over the weekend. after coloring the angel i added some twinkling h2os in the darkest areas so the second pic shows her tilted so the light hits the sparkle. i used polycolor pencils and a derwent blending pencil for blending
I seem to have a problem using SU Whisper White with my Prismacolors, especially if I use the colorless blender. Unless I use Staz On ink, the ink seems to smear, and I wonder if the paper is too smooth, or am I using the wrong ink? I usually use Versafine.
I've begun experimenting a tiny bit with gamsol, any difference in paper and ink I should use with that.
