Oh sweet! It looks like they've got most of the 12 new colors (10 of them), so if you're at the 120 and want to add on, go with the last 10 colors in the list starting at 1092 Nectar. I used that pencil and 1093 Seashell Pink for my Caucasian skin tones these days.

Thanks so much for sharing this site! And thanks to you too, V, for "enabling" those of us who NEED to add on to our 120 sets! (JK- I LOVE to be enabled! And you saved me a lot of time figuring out which I needed!)

Just doing what I can!

The two new colors that they're missing (out of stock) are Black Raspberry and Espresso. I love the Espresso, but I have yet to use the Black Raspberry.

Default Prisma Storage

Here is how I store mine. I found this at an estate sale on half price day, so I got it for $2.00!! Now all I have to do is make a list for each holder with color names/numbers. Used the color chart that came in the tin with the pencils on how to separate the colors.

Ok this is just horrible! I was doing some swaps last night and I've got all kinds of markers/watercolor pencils/chalk pencils/etc and nothing is making me happy anymore. I have no desire to get Copics whatsoever. It's like the Cricut--I'm just not that enamored of some things. I think price always gets to me.

Now I was reading throughout the forum about these prismacolor pencils. I've seen them at Michaels and just kinda looked and left because of the price. However I just found on Amazon, a set of 48 for $38.51. Free two day shipping for me because I'm an Amazon Prime member (I read a lot of books and my DH orders a bunch of stuff for his music so it's worth the $79 for one year not to pay shipping costs at all). I thought that was a great deal considering I really cannot afford a bigger set of these.

Is it worth it, to me, to just get the 48 pencil set then? Everyone around here seems to have 120 pencil set. I also saw that Amazon has the 72 pencil set for $49.28 with free shipping. That might be in the budget, but who knows?

And all the cards ya'll have made are gorgeous. I wanna do that and I can't get that with my marvy markers or my MS markers.

<-----Jumping up and down like a crazy woman

Yay ! My Prismas finally came this afternoon!! (I knew that you ladies would understand my joy!!) I just finished sharpening them and only had trouble with 1 out of the 120. I know there's been talk on here about what kind of sharpener to use. I just used the little metal one that came with the set and it worked great! Now, I can't wait to play....if only I didn't have to work tonight! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!!

I'm going to tell you what we tell everyone here...get the very largest set you can afford. If that's the 72, then so be it. You can always add colors later on. The 72 would be better as it gives you some grey tones, including 3 of my favorites, French Grey. For your price difference, you're getting an extra 24 pencils for essentially $10, that makes them 42 cents a pencil for those 24, which is an excellent price.

Jamie- all I can say is WOOOOOHOOOOOO! I can't wait to see your first project!

That is a good deal..never seen one quite like that. Is it glass or acrylic? I need to stay away from glass because I'm clutsy and might break it. I'm thinking of making one out of PVC pipe, I saw that somewhere on this site.

It is acrylic, I don't know what it's true purpose is, but it just JUMPED out at me and the light bulb went off!

I've got a few pages to catch up on after being gone for the long weekend. I took my pencils, baby oil, stumps and some stamped images with me. Got a few things colored - but not blended.

I do have a new card posted on my blog just now using the prismas and baby oil. While I was gone I read a colored pencil technique book and tried to put some of those principles to practice. I'll share some of those insights tomorrow or Wed with ya'll. I'm pretty tired right now and don't think I could think it out straight!

Anyway, I'd love to have you take a peek and let me know what you thought. I'm really happy with how her skin turned out as well as the sky/grass!

Looks great!! What kind of paper did you use?

Funny thing Cassie....I was looking on my desk here and there's a card you made sitting here. You got some Cuttlebug Folders from my wife.
Nice card!

I love this. What a find! I did sorta the same thing with some pots I got at Dollar Tree. I found a wire basket at Big Lots that they all fit in and separated the colors much like you did. Now I may have to find a way to "stick them together".

Did you figure all that math out in your head? Well, that narrows that down completely. Thanks for taking the time to do that. I really, really want these pencils. Really.

Possibly. But it's more likely that I used a calculator for at least a bit of it.

Nice card!

You know, I'm 99% sure it was just Georgia Pacific from WalMart for the paper. I ddi - now to just get some more dollars and shop in the Hambo store! I'm glad you think the card is cute --- I think it was from my friend Jacquie though...I was in a big hurry so don't remember exactly!

Thanks for all the kind words on my coloring. I'll get into my stamp space later and find the numbers I used.

My advice would be buy the largest set you can afford to. Then add singles as you can. I am sure others would tell you different.....but, that is MHO.

I also understand how you feel on the purchase of more machines/tools.....ie, The Big Shot when I already have a Cuttlebug. Does not make any sense to me either.

Thanks for the tip on Amazon, I shop there for books, CDs and DVDs but, did not think about the pencils. Will have to check that out!

You do not have to have the 120. I only have the 48, and I've survived. I'd like to have the bigger set, and may get it some day, but I have about a million ways to color, so I'm fairly happy with what I have. As much as I love SCS, we can be pretty bad around here about making it sound like you'll never get good results if you don't have the latest and greatest.

I am NOT talking about anyone specific, or this thread in particular. I am talking about the massive money drain that is our beloved SCS!!!

Mary I love the container!!! That is exactly what I am looking for. I want to separate my colors into the SU families since I own so much of their products. I will have to look at Target or Wal-Mart for something similar.

I posted this in the general stamping, but it is specific to this thread, too...I was just at Office Depot where all of their clearance is 75% off marked price. They had the 120 set for 100, which means it would only be $25!!!!! It is in the old box, though, not the tin. Grrr-of course I just bought mine last month!

Jealous! Now if only we could make it spin....

They make those rotating plates for people making their own lazy susans...I bet you could glue one to the bottom...

It would probably be easier to just put it on a lazy suzan, that way you've also got a spot to store other goodies.

I was thinking last night, has anyone ever put baby oil/oms in a niji water brush.

I thought maybe you might be able to blend just like you do with watercolors but was curious as to whether or not anyone has tried it, had success or hated it.

Any thoughts?

Not that I have heard. There have been discussions about adding OMS to an empty copic marker. I'm not sure the Niji would work very successfully. I think you'd get too much solvent on your work surface. I know when I use a waterbrush for watercoloring, I can easily get too much water flowing through it.

One of the main differences I can see that would potentially cause the setup to fail is the softness of the brush on the Niji. We use pressed paper stumps, which are very firm for blending, and as the solvent is absorbed into the paper, very little actually gets on the paper. I would try using OMS with a paint brush first, to see if you could get the results you wanted.

Check Ebay for Prismas...I got the set of 120 for $52.00! Brand new in sealed tin. Nothing but good things to say about that deal. It appears that there are a lot of good deals right now...I saw one set of 120 for $31.00! New in package...definately worth checking out. I have been very pleased with my purchase.
blessings.

My closest Office Depot is an hour away. Ah well. I have a fine collection of pencils anyway.

I did some step by step photos of my coloring style and posted them up on my blog if anyone is interested.

I posted the same info in general stamping, and so far it's been hit or miss as to whether they are marked down or not. So I wouldn't go out of my way to go to one, or perhaps I would give them a ring-a-ling first.
