Is there interest in asking for a sticky for Silhouette cutter info?

Is there enough interest in a Silhouette ( Cameo-Portrait) STICKY thread where we could share tips, ideas or how to do questions ?

cr8iveme 11-27-2012 05:07 PM

I think that sounds like a great idea.

However, I don't know how many people own the Silhouette Cameo or Portrait.

Personally, I own the Silhouette SD model.

Barbara Jay 11-27-2012 05:14 PM

We could have it as just "Silhouettes " so it would include anyone with any model of Silhouette
I think the RoboCraft works similar to the Silhouette , correct?
If so that could be included.

My thoughts are as new owners come alone they would have a resource such as we have for Cricut, Spellbinders, Copics, etc
I just don't know how many people own a Silhouette brand electronic cutter which is why I asked if there is enough interest

Or maybe a STICKY thread that includes all electronic cutters that use individual cut files instead of cartridges .

crafterinnc 11-27-2012 11:08 PM

Sounds like a good idea.

Great Idea.......... thanks for suggesting it :-)

Lemur 11-28-2012 08:53 AM

yes!

scrappingjoy 11-28-2012 09:02 AM

Yes, I own a cameo!! Love that baby!

1morethought 11-28-2012 09:08 AM

A big YES! I recently joined the forum, and it would sure be easier than searching for "Silhouette" each time. Although I've been lurking so far, I've already learned a lot from you all, so thank you!

asuncionshija 11-28-2012 10:15 AM

I'd like that too. I've been ramping up my usage lately so I always have questions! ;)

Cinnistew 11-28-2012 03:18 PM

Personally, I don't like the stickys... it's a pain to weed through all those posts. :(

g33kgr1 11-28-2012 03:30 PM

Silhouette Cameo here *waving*!

We could talk about blade settings for different types of paper... alternative sources for vinyl/heat transfer... trade custom made files... etc...

Barbara Jay 11-28-2012 04:24 PM

And share sites with freebie cut files that we find :D

ShortWizard 11-28-2012 04:32 PM

I think it's an excellent idea. I know Silhouette has it's own forum on another site, but this one would get more traffic, for sure. I have the original Silhouette and am always looking for tips and tricks.

craftykarla 11-29-2012 12:17 PM

Oh, YES, great idea Barbara Jay. Soon as mine arrives I know I will have alot of questions. And the links to other info, tips and tricks ar always welcome. Count me in.

amydav 11-29-2012 01:28 PM

YES.

smokiesgal 11-29-2012 07:21 PM

Got my Silhouette Cameo today and I am already in love!!!!

lisa808 11-29-2012 07:22 PM

Yes! I just ordered a Portrait on Black Friday.

HeatherHolbrook 11-30-2012 02:52 PM

Yes! I just got a Portrait and I LOVE it. I had an SD and loved it too but the Portrait is even better!

uncbballfan 11-30-2012 10:50 PM

Definitely!

Barbara Jay 12-03-2012 09:26 AM

There were only 17 people who said they would like a sticky for the Silhouette.

Based on the number of people who are members of Splitcoast, that response to me , seems like too few people to have a sticky.

Perhaps in time if the Silhouette becomes more popular we can ask for a sticky. Until then we can use the regular threads to ask and answer questions . I have found people with Silhouettes are very helpful in answering questions

Yes, I don't have the cameo but I do have the sd and would still appreciate a sticky

shazsilverwolf 12-08-2012 07:58 AM

I too would love a sticky, but until we can get enough interest, can I share this link with anyone who hasn't seen me post it up before? UKScrappers, has loads of members familiar with all the machines,it has lots of tutorials and help, and when you have been a forum member for a month you get access to the cutting files that members post up. :)

Your link doesn't work because there are 2 "http's", but I found your link on another thread, so was able to go to the site and register. Just wanted to let you know in case others wanted to access the site.

shazsilverwolf 12-09-2012 04:45 AM

UKScrappers Sorry, redid the link. I didn't notice that, I am doing everything lefthanded at the moment as I have my right arm in a splint, having chipped off a bit of my shoulderblade! On the plus side, I can now use four fingers to type with on my left hand, I started only being able to use one, :)

Cwmwcw 12-11-2012 08:40 AM

I would love a sticky for Silhouette!

scrapnstamp on the farm 01-05-2013 07:15 PM

I think it would be helpful to have one place to go for all information Silhouette too!

watcer14 01-06-2013 01:36 PM

Darn

I'd like to have the sticky... I just didn't see the link in time to respond. I own a Cameo.

Thanks

uncbballfan 01-06-2013 09:31 PM

Yes, now more than ever, although I have trouble finding info on the stickies, like someone previously said. I really wish we could have "sub" categories within the Silhouette thread. One for files, one for tips, tutorials, techniques, one for problems, ... well, you get the idea.

Hi, Barbara --

I'm finding your thread a month late, but here's a thought... Some of the Sticky threads started out as normal threads before they were made Sticky. You (or someone else) can go ahead and start your own new thread and post to it. Pick a title such as "Silhouette FAQ" or "Silhouette Chatter" and start building it as a resource. Post a link to it in this thread and in any other prominent Silhouette threads so that people know where to find it.

The point is that it doesn't need to be an actual Sticky to function as one. After the new thread reaches critical mass, if it seems appropriate, it can be made a Sticky at a later date.

XcessStamps 01-13-2013 03:24 PM

Yes!
My Cameo should be here in a couple of days. Never had one before and kind of apprehensive - I'll probably need lots of help!!

Cyndi_Ray 01-14-2013 01:57 PM

What makes the Portrait better than the SD?

Cyndi_Ray 01-14-2013 01:58 PM

And yes, I'd love a sticky!

shazsilverwolf 01-15-2013 09:31 AM

I discovered Pinterest recently(!), but today, found these two sites, with free cutting files.
Scrap Your Story,
and Birdscards , Had to share them :D
