Default HELP! How to clean an SU ink pad?

All my Christmas card layers were cut and embellished with glitter, and all that was left was to stamp the greeting on the inside and assemble them today. So what senior moment did I have last night? I failed to pour the clear embossing powder in the SU tray back into the bottle and forgot to cover my Real Red ink pad. The ceiling heater vent hit the powder and blew small particles into the ink pad that are barely visible. The minute powder particles on the ink pad are sticking to the stamp and what a waste of paper! I tried scrapping a clean knife across the pad which did not work. I went to Michael's and they were sold out of red. My SU demo. is not local.
Suggestions please. I would be most grateful.

I would think you could clean it up with a damp washcloth..

I don't know how well this will work, but try pulling the powder off with masking tape. It may take several times to get it all. I hope you have reinker for it. You may need that afterwards.

Perhaps someone else will post a better idea. Good luck.

Thanks Fawntastic, I tried the masking tape which sounded like a super idea, but it did not work in my case. That does sound like a solution for general debris. I was in such a bind I junked the new ink pad and went back to Michael's and bought red embossing powder. So I finished the cards using that and Versamark. I was in such a tizzy I never thought of this simple alternative while I was at Michael's the first time. So I'll re-order a Real Red tomorrow which is easier than trying to clean the other one. A lesson learned the hard way: ALWAYS cover ink pads and embossing powder before walking away from my craft room.

That is VERY sad! I've used an old bone folder and 'scrapped' debris off the pad - usually I have to reink after but it does work.

If it's not already long gone in the trash, try rinsing it out with water and then reinking. Nothing to lose if you're considering it a loss, anyhow. It just may work.
